So many physical devices have already been swallowed up by smartphones. Organisers, audio dictation devices, notepads, watches...and cameras. It was interesting for me to see that now there is not really a reason to buy a dedicated video camera anymore. Smartphone cameras will get even better in the next few years. It’s just the natural change of time I guess. Progress is not nostalgic. ;)
Jajaja dude you have to be joking iPhone 14 will be around $1500 you can pick up a canon c100 mark 2 from 9 years ago and the quality of the c100 will kill any iPhone and the camecorder doesn't even record 4k
I've shot a couple of videos with phone after i sold my camcorder for not using it since years and I shot videos with my DSLRs too, but somehow i still like camcorders for my home videos and yes... i went back to camcorders and bought an old one. With the right encoder, even an old camcorder can take beautiful videos and amazing memories.
I think that’s a very valid point. I kinda know what you mean. I do use my smartphone now to record pretty much everything, but it’s not the same as having that camcorder with me. Maybe there’s something about the ergonomics and the shape of a camcorder that makes one engage differently with filming stuff. It’s interesting. Thanks for your comment.
And apple buys camera sensors from sony for the iphone and sony don't sale there good camera sensors out to anyone and I just want the devices itself and it feels better instead of using a phone for every device
I WOULD PICK THE CAMCORDER ALMOST ALWAYS, I CAN TELL PHONE QUALITY AND THE CODEX MOST OF THE TIME IS BETTER THAN PHINES, THE CAMCORDER YOU CAN RECORD EXTREAMLY LONG VIDEIS AND IS BETTER TI MAKE VLOGS
I have the Sony FDR AX700, I'm always going to choose a camcorder for video over a DSLR or smartphone BUT I still highly will use my s20 plus for 4k 60p recording for the convenience that phone gives + I feel that it is the more expensive camcorders that will overcome the smartphones but I highly understand that not everyone will have $2000 to get themselves a camcorder like the AX700 or even $1600 like the Canon Vixia H-G60. Smartphones really are taking consumer entry level camcorders out the market slowly but like everyone else says in the comments, optical zoom and sensor size that a good camcorder provides will never be touched my the smartphones.
Yes the iPhone beats the camcorder in terms what u were showing ,but what abt zooming and film sth at a far distance ?I am sure ur camcorder can at least zoom 20 times where the iPhone can only do 8 times. So,iPhone can't beat the camcorder in the zooming department.
That’s absolutely correct. I should have mentioned that. The camcorder can zoom on the moon at night and you can actually see craters. But it looks like the next iPhone might have similar features. I think huawai did it already.
@@TheSneezingMonkey thanks sir for agreeing cos zooming is very important to me, I like to film objects that are far away which I dont have to physically move to get it. Yes it's Huawei p30 and p40. Hopefully the iPhone would have similar features. But sir ,in ur video I can tell u like the iPhone better, but don't u use the zoom feature on ur camcorder ?that's sth the current iPhone will never achieve.
The camcorder as well as the iPhone have a digital zoom. I always try to use any digital zoom camera at full size, without zoom. Because essentially you’re just cropping into your image, while maybe digitally enhancing. So I’m personally not a big fan of any digital zoom.
I'm in the same boat, noticed much better quality on my Pixel 5 than on my Sony Handycam. The only problem with my phone is the storage, it fills up quickly.
I believe the Sony camcorder records video in two formats simultaneously AVCHD and MP4 and I expect you downloaded the MP4 straight from the camera. If so can I suggest that instead you take the AVCHD version and convert it on your PC to MP4 using VLC and compare the results then? Would be a better comparison maybe.
I can really tell a difference in the image stabilization in favor of the camcorder really when walking the iPhone looks jerky and body movement is detected
That is not correct. I understand that using a pro mic with a camcorder is easier but Im using the Rode Wireless Pro 2 directly with my iPhone. And the results are great.
Tengo una sony handycam hdr pj820 y un iphone 13 pro max, la verdad que en las pantallas del celular se ven bien, pero en los televisores de mayor tamaño se nota mejor la sony handycam
You are also talking about a camcorder OLDER than a NEW iPhone....why would an iPhone be better than a device whose goal it is to take good video...would defeat the purpose.
What a bully you are, comparing an old cheap Sony camcorder with your iphone. If you bought a new decent camcorder, not a cheap thing that you bought years ago it would beat that silly crappy iphone every day of the week in all departments. So what you are saying is that camcorders are all rubbish? pay a bit more skinflint and get a decent Camcorder, watch some youtube video's and you will see that all the good camcorders will blow your iphone away.
Agreed. I looked at the camera specs of the Iphone Pro 11 and it only has 2x optical zoom and 6x digital zoom. My Sony FDR-AX43A camcorder can do 20x optical zoom (it also has clear image zoom) and 250x digital zoom. The Panasonic Panasonic HC-W580 can do 50x optical zoom, which is insane.
I remember as a kid i always had sweet spot for camcorders... Too see them slowly getting overtaken by Smartphones is sad and nice at the same time...

Thanks for this... I feel happy and sad at the same time that phones can now do better than camcorders which were fully dedicated for video purpose

You compare iphone with pj series camcorder? You should test on axp53 then we all know iphone left behind
Great video!
Thanks for making it.

TheSneezingMonkey yes digital zoom on the phone isnt as good as a real optical zoom.
Thanks. It's like if you don't have a top level camcorder, you are better off with a nice phone for video
I dont like using iphones for photography,, modern high quality camcorders are way better than mp4 iphone compression
I'm in the same boat, noticed much better quality on my Pixel 5 than on my Sony Handycam. The only problem with my phone is the storage, it fills up quickly.
3:10 the camcorder looks better in this particular scene
iPhones as of 2021 can't zoom in from far away distances. So I'll choose a camcorder over a smartphone anytime
Even Budget androids like realme x3 etc zoom upto 60x but then again, the quality doesn't compare.
@@BadassBobY Optical zoom is better than digital
I have a drawer of old electronics that my iPhone replaced. It is what I wanted but I also feel sad.
Don't throw them away. Store them well...and one day you can show them to your grand children. It'll be like time travel. ;)
the camcorder wont ring or vibrate when you get a call.. and you cant swap out the iphones battery
Can you please send the abondoned camcorder to me?i will be very happy to hear from youe
But, if you use the phone for recording then you have to save some battery for calls/internet/scrolling tiktok&insta

My Canon camcorder is much better. Very smooth footage and great zoom. Only disadvantage is low light.

Is the iPhone footage shot in 1080p or 4K?
I believe it was shot in HD 60.
@@TheSneezingMonkey I thought HD was another word for 1060?
how did you get the iphone footage to look so good on youtube mine always converts and sucks
What do you use to convert the video? I use VLC player. It’s gives great results. I even made a tutorial video about how it works. It’s on my channel.
Are you using imovie?
