  • Eight-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle seemingly vanished while shopping inside a Florida store with her mother and two younger sisters. Rayne Perrywinkle met a man who appeared to be a good samaritan, offering to help the family purchase clothes they couldn't afford. The Perrywinkles went from Dollar General to Walmart with Donald Smith to continue their shopping trip. While at Walmart, Smith went to buy the family some food inside the supermarket. Cherish followed him and was never seen again. Find out what happened to Cherish Perrywinkle in this episode of "Prime Crime with Jesse Weber."

@@cadence6814 I'm glad you brought this up. Statistically, children are more likely to be abused by some one they know, not a complete stranger. This was a completely bad set of circumstances. The mother was planning on taking her children on a flight to see their father soon and she was shopping to get them ready for the trip with only a $100 budget. The offending man was well experienced as he had asked the cashier if the mother had bought the clothing that she had brought to the counter, to which the cashier said no. This was then when he pounced on the vulnerability. Predators look for exploits not much different to exploiting a hole in a fence.

This may have been when he decided his gift card scam and non-existent wife to show he is a 'responsible' person should come into play as he discussed these things with Rayne in the beginning to gain trust. I lost my kid at a Ross one day. My stomach dropped. Ran down every isle. Turns out he was hiding in the clothes rack we were at. It was such a relief. Never took my eyes off them after that. They are grown now but i still keep an eye on parents kids i see wandering off just in case i have to remind the parents to watch their kids.

I lived a life very similar to The last story, when I became pregnant, I gave everything up to be the best mom I could be and I have never looked back. It doesn't make sense to me how anybody could choose their shity party life over a beautiful life with a child

Even that would be too quick for him. He needs some TLC, Lingchi would fit the bill.

I’ve barely started the video, but she knew something wasn’t right with him, but she let her child wander round with him anyway? Why is she trusting a complete stranger like that? So strange.

Cherish’s case absolutely wrecked me it’s such a disturbing and heartbreaking case I know not many people are sympathetic to the mother but she was so poor and someone offered her to pay for her it reminds me of all that kindness content creators where random people approach strangers who look in need and offer to buy everything it’s awful how you can’t trust anyone not even someone who seems like they’re being kind

This shows just how horrific our legal system is to see how many times that monster has gotten free.

Yes, this is very typical. It's everywhere and usually handled with neglect.

The mother sold her child out! She should have all custody taking away completely!!! She is not fit to protect her own children.

My childhood best friend was married to Zach before he was with Krystal. They pronounced his name wrong, it's pronounced Kane. Anyway horrible story all the way around!

I'm very sorry for this unbelievable loss, but shame on the mother... I'm sorry - under no circumstances would I ever trust a complete stranger like that with my child. Even if I was down to my last dollar. The safety of our babies over everything, always.
