  • Easy Red Chile Hot Sauce Recipe | How to Make Hot Sauce
    Here is Knockout Kitchen's easy hot sauce recipe. The chilis used are Jamie Oliver's favorite red chile (chili, chilli). Even though these red chilis are rather mild, they do pack a surprising punch! This recipe also shows you how to jar hot sauce. Hope you all enjoy the recipe. Love the idea! I see you stored in mason jars did you process them or just refrigerate ? If you processed which method did you use water bath or pressure ? Thanks

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  7 лет назад +1

      Brandy Gallegos I just sterilized the jars by boiling them like shown in the video. When you put the heated sauce in the sterilized hot jars and screw on the lids, as they cool it creates a seal. You could put the jars back in boiling water if you wanted but it isn't necessary. As long as the jars have been boiled and the sauce hit when put in the jars it will create a seal.

    • @plurmingo1
      @plurmingo1 7 лет назад

      KnockoutKitchen as an avid canner, that's not safe, unless you're storing them in the fridge. As to why I asked if you processed them in a water bath or pressure method, you need to kill bacteria in order for it to be shelf stable.
      Thanks for the vid, I made your sauce with cayenne peppers, and it's amazing. I did process for 15 minutes in water bath for shelf stability, just in case someone else is/was wondering the same thing ! Happy canning !

    For how long can this hot chilli sauce without adding any preservatives or putting in the refrigerator

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  Год назад

      Well the salt and vinegar act as a preservative. If sealed jars it will last over a year. The colour will slightly change though and look less vibrant. A little opened jar should last easily 3 or more months. Just keep a look out for mold if you keep it out of the fridge. If no mold it should be fine. I haven't had mold grow on mine.

      Yes for sure. It won’t be as “fresh” tasting with dried but you can totally do it. You may need more chilies when using dried chilies. I’d soak the chilies in a little warm water first to rehydrate them. And you may have to adjust the water/ vinegar for desired thickness.

      Ahmad Al-Dossary I'm not quite sure because it's always gone before it has time to go bad. Jarred it would last a year but open I'm not sure. I would think a couple months. It would last quite a while. Just keep an eye out for mold and you should be good. It does after all have a lot of vinegar and some salt which is a preservative.

    I usually leave the "basic" mild red chilis on the shelves when shopping but in this form I might actually find a tasty connecting link between them and myself! 92 dislikes? too hot? too much garlic? I mean if you're like me and not a big fan of using fresh garlic and the amount shown on the video just add a small amount of dried garlic spice? Or replace it with something else ;) I know I'm gonna add some strong curry spice into mine.

    Im having one hell of a time trying to find the peppers you used in this video. As it turns out "red chili pepper" is not a name for specific pepper, but just a description, meaning a red pepper that is spicy.

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  8 лет назад

      Yes I don't even know that they have a name. Jamie Oliver uses them constantly. I find that they are the easiest to find next to jalapeños. You just have to look for red chilies shaped like them. They will probably just be called hot peppers, or assorted chilies or chilies. Best of luck and thanks for watching.

      I actually grow them in my garden. The tag that came with the plant only says 'Red Chili Pepper'

    what is the shelf life of the sauce..??

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  7 лет назад

      PRADNESH MHASKAR I'm not really sure. I have used it after a year and it tasted good. The red colour just wasn't as vibrant. I would imagine it would last indefinitely since it's mainly hot peppers and vinegar.

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  7 лет назад

      PRADNESH MHASKAR mind you I'm talking sauce that was sealed and unopened. I don't know how long an opened one would last in the fridge because it is usually used before it can go bad.

    please say the name of chillI..is this a less hot chilli/ sweet chilli??

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  7 лет назад

      It's actually just called a red chili. They are spicy but milder than a jalapeno. So not crazy spicy or anything.

    How do you make spicy sauce out of chili powder? Please comment a recipe, thank you :)!

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  5 лет назад +1

      Layla Hill I don’t really think that would work out. Chilli powder is a lot different tasting than actual hot peppers, and not very spicy at all. 🤷‍♂️

    Can you skip the onion part?

    • @KnockoutKitchen
      @KnockoutKitchen  7 лет назад

      Raidzor つ ◕_◕ つ yes you can totally skip the onions. They aren't completely necessary. Use a couple more peppers instead. If you make the sauce let me know how it turns out. It's a great sauce.

      KnockoutKitchen I tried it out and it came out pretty nice. A bit too liquid i think, i should use a bit less water and vinegar. Thank you man, great recipe! ;)

      Raidzor つ ◕_◕ つ yeah it's all practice. You could always simmer it a bit longer to to get the desired thickness too. Glad you tried the recipe out. Enjoy!
