Whenever I listen to this song I am always left wanting more. Nothing about this song is overpowering but everything about it falls perfectly into place. Love the sax, the soft backing vocals and Inga's beautiful voice. This song is a journey you don't want to end.
Soooo beautiful. Transports me to a euphoric and tranquil state. Gentle and moving and a haunting melody mixed with amazing saxophone and sweet vocals. I just adore it. 10/10
One of Iceland's best ESC entries! This was amazing and fantastic performed live! I remember that I thought that this song could win for Iceland. It should have been at least Top 5 definitely!
I see so many good comments on here about this song, for me as well it was one of the best of this year, Loved it... Iceland has some great song entries....thanks from uk.
trevors1961 In voting here in Iceland this has ranked as one of Icelanders least favorite entries and the 1991 entry Nína(Draumur um Nínu) always ranks way far highest and is in fact one of the most beloved Icelandic pop songs ever.
trevors1961 .Stéfan Sigurdsson.. thats a very interesting insight as to how Icelanders themselves feel and thought about this song.. I 💗💗 this song and singer BTW.. 😁. thanks Stéfan
What a marvelous song!I was really shocked to find out this awful placing they got this year! That song is OBVIOUSLY one of the best in the Eurovision history and, in my opinion, the 2nd best that year, just right after the MASTERPIECE from Switzerland! ;) Greetings from Cyprus! =)
Wow haven't seen this since I was 5 and it was live . It was so memorising then and again today ❤️ I thought she was so stunning and it was by far my favourite song.
As always, marvellous video and audio quality, my friend - and, yes, I quite agree this is truly a lovely entry of yours, great atmosphere and a wonderful performance by Inga (gosh. I'm starting to run out of adjectives here). I don't know how much better it could have done ('93 was a strong year, IMO), but I wouldn't have minded seeing it in the top-5, personally.
Thanks for that info, though I think it's kind of sad that nobody wanted to hire her, especially after all that effort. Oh well. Hope she's doing okay.
well, interesting info...still then surprising so many people from abroad liked it...I also liked those you mentioned, including 89 and that...if i had your love tune too...
I'm joining this "group" of admirers of this song. This so amazing, it makes me just drift away (Just like "mondjam el vetkeimet") and should have been in the Top 5 for sure (This IS my 2nd favourite icelandic entry, right after "Minn hinsti dans", of course :P). But I just wonder, one of the backing singers (1.12-1.15 in the video), is that the singer in Secret Garden's 1995 entry? However, great video and sound, thank you so much!
That's logical enough; Inga is all but forgotten today, the song was never THAT big a hit in Iceland - add the cult entries which most of our entries obtain and I'm not surprised it slipped so low in that voting (which, by the way, I'm glad I missed).
1:27 Is that Sigga? If it is, then she participated in Eurovision 5 times in a row - 1990 - Part of Stjornin 1991 - Backing singer 1992 - Part of Heart2Heart 1993 - Backing singer 1994 - Solo artist
PendulumFTW Sigga Participated in 1990 as part of Stjórnin,in 1992 as Stjórnin+Sigrún Eva Ármannsdóttir named Heart2Heart and in 1994 as the solo singer Sigga. Then in 2006 she was a backing singer for Silvia Night.
I'm afraid no one's heard from her since. This song was her 15 minutes on the music scene. Not the first or last Eurovision artist with that fate. She has done some roles in movies, though. I guess she wanted to concentrate on other things.
From all our entries this is among the least popular here in Iceland. Nína(91) remains by far the most popular then Minn Hinsti dans(97),All out of luck(99) and Gleðibankinn(86) are also very popular but not nearly as Nína.
I've got an existential doubt about the lyrics of this song: What does "Enn heldur af stað, brenna spurningar" mean? Is "spurningar" in this case accusative or nominative? Is "brenna" a gerund? I haven't found the expression "brenna spurningar" in a dictionary, so that is why I ask it.
"Brenna spurningar" basically means "questions are burning". "Brenna" is not a gerund here, it's just the verb for "burn" (but I applaud your perceptiveness). If I understand English grammar correctly, "spurningar" is nominative in this case. It is a bit of a weird phrase, anyway, in a very poetic form. "Enn heldur af stað" ("Once again [he] gets going") is particularly weird, 'cause it doesn't say *who* is going. Hope that helps.
Here you can find the direct translation of the lyrics. diggiloo.net/?1993is You have to read the 3 lines above to understand the context of this sentence.

More than Perfect! -Just Wonderful! :-)
She's certainly the most aesthetically pleasing contestant Iceland has ever sent to Eurovision
Beautiful song, powerful ballad, for me, this is real winner of Eurovision 1993. Greetings from Croatia
One of the best ESC entries in the Eurovision Song Contest ever. Inga should've won back in 1993.
That Sax is so beggining of the 90's ....love it love it love it....
An awsome song
Soooo beautiful. Transports me to a euphoric and tranquil state. Gentle and moving and a haunting melody mixed with amazing saxophone and sweet vocals. I just adore it. 10/10
I love it too. I can listen to it whatever emotions I'm feeling, happy, sad, or anywhere in between.
One of the best Icelandic ESC entries, my No. 2 from 1993 and an all time fave. Should definitely have been placed into Top 3 in that year.
Frank Bischof Agree completely LOVE it

Couldn't agree with you more Alex!
perfect song ! Thank you Iceland for all ESC wonderfull songs !
Thank you so much for the translation!
My pleasure!
So underrated. Should have been at least in top 3.
Quite agree. One of my absolute favorites!
Crimanally underrated! This would be a great winner in a terrific year!!! It had my 12 points back in 1993 and it still has my 12 points in 2016!

One of my favourites from Iceland.
I couldn't agree more with what's been said here, one of the best entries in 1993, which should have done so much better.
Hi from Serbia, this is such a nice song...very relaxing...good quality music.
thank you Iceland for this

Really beautiful song and voice. Love it. An all time classic from Eurovision.
I love this song, thank you Inga
its like a Sade song in a way . Everybody is gorgeous and sensual without even trying :)
Då vet du svaret!!!!
En av de bästa bidragen ESC 1993!
I wish Iceland would win the Eurovision song contest someday - would be great to host in Reykjavik for once.
love it...beautiful song

BEAUTIFUL SONG!
lovely!
now that you mention. It's a great tune, very colourful. I really like it you think so... kisses
My favourite icelandic entry is Sigga in 1994 and this is second best!!
goooood!
geee, this is such a good song ! wow, as Iceland had so good songs always
Ten points to Iceland!!!

Iceland Cyprus loves uuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!
Við höfum Egilshöll. Malmö Arena var svipuð að stærð.
i play´d good on the sax :)
The best entry from Iceland ever. What is Inga doing nowadays? Best regards from Luxembourg.
Last time I heard Ingibjörg (Inga) is a yoga instructor and from what I've heard, pretty good one.
Those were the days of ESC. I would listen to this song in my own grave if I could.
That's logical enough; Inga is all but forgotten today, the song was never THAT big a hit in Iceland - add the cult entries which most of our entries obtain and I'm not surprised it slipped so low in that voting (which, by the way, I'm glad I missed).

That's Erna Þórarinsdóttir. She was also a backing singer in '91. Sigga participated in neither of those years.

Rest in peace/Hvild í fridi Einar Bragi, guess God needed a saxophone player, so he called him sooner :(
Another great Icelandic song! And not a single victory for the country yet! Strange.... Love form Greece..
Deserved a much better placing

Iceland should've won in 92 and 93, maybe too cold for the Southerners
It certainly seems like that sometimes, lol. Thanks!
@DRSAXI Indeed you did, that was you?
This would've been a typical danseband-ballad. No one seemed to understand what that term or song was at the time

Thank you very much. Another doubt that I have is why there is an inversion of "brenna spurningar".
Probably just for the sake of making it work with the song's flow.

@@Euroviking86 Is "heldur" 2nd or 3rd person of the verb "halda" in this case?
but we don´t have a venue?
Yeah, whatever happened to her? What is she currently up to?
A beautiful song! If a ballad had to win that year, I would rather this than crappy "In Your Eyes" any day!
What Það sem enginn sér(What noone sees) that got 0 point in 89. Well we here in Iceland like to call it What noone sees or hears.
