The best Nordic entry that year, a tender and soaring ballad, plus a spotless vocal from Jill Johnson. I love it. The lyrics were inspired by the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, whose passing was still fresh in the world's (and especially the UK's) memory at the time.
I wondered why she was dressed in black. However any moving effect was lost on me by the distraction of what surely had to be a false chest.
I agree, this is a beautiful song. Some lovely lyrics, a sublime arrangement and a wonderful singer. I’m not sure what my favourite Eurovision song is, but Kärleken Är might be the one.

I would really like to see a song in Swedish from Sweden, but I don't mean Jon Henrik's songs, that something in them is done wrong for me...
Something like Anis Don Demina's "Vem är som oss" from Melodifestivalen this year, or Panetoz's songs ("Efter solsken" from 2014 and "Håll om mig hårt" from 2016), or like Timoteij's "Kom" from Melodifestivalen 2010...
Or even Samir & Viktor, or Sean Banan (I like his song from 2012).

This is by far the best eurovision song ever. So incredibly beautiful! Unbelievable it ended only in 10th position!
That's very good considering the horrendous start of the voting for them, Sweden received no points at all from the first 6 countries. But I do think it should have done much better, it is one of my favourites that year!

I still love to watch Jill. A gifted voice and I adore her high heels and her vampire outfit. Sweden is always above standards and never disappoints us.
Sweden frequently disappoints..by singing post Abba ditties in English and playing safe! But not in 1998!!

Sin duda alguna estaba en mi top para ganar eurovision 1998. Ella llena el escenario sola, pero con ese maravilloso coro, Jill johnson protagonizó una de las mejores interpretaciónes del pais sueco. Muy mal puntuada por el jurado y público, que ese año se estrenaba a la llamadas por teléfono. My 12 points go to sueden, ❤️ jill johnson.
Más bien fue mal puntuada por el público (primer año de televoto). Aquel año el televoto era la única fuente de puntuación, sin jurados salvo por Hungría (que por algún motivo no pudo hacer uso del nuevo sistema y otorgó ocho puntos a Suecia). Era de esperar que el público se decantara por otras muchas canciones mucho más movidas, frescas, joviales... que hubo esa noche, pasando esta gran canción algo desapercibida. Hungría no es un país que tenga especialmente buena relación diplomática o musical con Suecia, y para su jurado fue medalla de bronce, y pienso que es más que probable que con el sistema tradicional de voto hubiera quedado entre las primeras. Para mi gusto, Suecia como canción y Malta como intérprete fueron las mejores. Kärleken Är es un tesoro músical.

I felt deeply in love with this song back in 1998. I was 19, and then I lived just a series of experiences which I could see and feel verily reflected on its lyrics. Added to the wonderful music as a song, it made altogether a very masterpiece which became my favourite ESC song ever, then and up to date.

I agree with you, Gareth. Sweden, Malta and Ireland, in this order, are my ffavourite songs that year. I also love swedish flag also as much as spanish, as I am. And I also think Sweden must be an interesting and lovely country worthy to be visited.

Wonderful! Sweden should start sending great songs in Swedish. The same applies to other countries as well. The Eurovision should return to its roots where all participating nations performed in their native language, which was more interesting. Perhaps we should launch a petition.
