    People are way too hard on Terra. I agree, he’s such a great character!! I was excited to see this on my subscription feed

    This video was great Terra doesn't deserve the crap he gets, when you look at his perspective.

    I never realized Xehanort stabbed Eraqus in the back. I always thought he had like a "heart attack." But this makes more sense.

      Yep. That's what Terra means when he tells Aqua that he was a fool and helped Xehanort do it. He weakened Eraqus and Xehanort finished him off.

    Terra always seemed really realistic.

      To my way of thinking Birth By Sleep always excelled in a different way from the others because of the realistic flaws in all of the characters. But I think it's overlooked a lot because people are used to Kingdom Hearts being a little bit less subtle. :)

    Since Terra was so upset that he didn't become a keyblade master, he could've found meaning in his life by working at Disneyland instead!
    But seriously, this was a great video. I constantly made fun of Terra getting fooled by the villains, but I didn't take into account how "sheltered" he was. While I believed that Eraqus was MOSTLY right about "using Darkness is bad", he was still a jerk, overly fanatical about it, and could've handled the whole situation better. The part where Eraqus told Terra "I failed you", I personally didn't take as Eraqus trying to guilt trip Terra partly because he told Terra he (Terra) was right and Eraqus then said "My own heart is darkness (aka, I'm a hypocrite)". I took it as: Eraqus doesn't blame Terra for using the Darkness to protect Ven, but blames himself that Terra HAD to resort to that because of Eraqus' mishandling of everything. You articulated your points very well and gave a perspective of Terra that I haven't really heard anyone else talk about before. I look forward to more in the future!

      I hope the video highlighted just how infrequently he actually worked with the villains, too. He basically only did it in Neverland and with Xehanort as a general rule.
      As for "using darkness is bad" my next video is basically going to be all about the darkness. But until then I ask you, "What about Riku?"

    • @DynamiteBros
      @DynamiteBros 5 лет назад +2

      @@Hokius I pointed out before that Terra wasn't as bad as people made him out to be because up until when he used the darkness in Radiant Garden, he didn't really do anything wrong (if we're going with the "using darkness is automatically bad" rule). As for Riku, the reason I used the word "mostly" when I said Eraqus was "mostly" right about darkness being bad is because of how Riku utilized the darkness. CoM's message was finding the balance between light and darkness, but then I felt that KH2 contradicted that a little (if I'm remembering right, it's been a while).

      @Hokius  5 лет назад +2

      @@DynamiteBros Yeah, see, the way I interpret Riku's journey is less about balance and more about control. It might be a fine distinction but hopefully, I'll be able to justify it when it's Riku's turn to get a video like this. :)

    Great video! gave you a like! Terra is 100% my favourite from the Way Finder trio for his charchter and gameplay. Honstly tho, in my opinoin Eraqus is way more to blame than Terra. Eraqus and Yen Sid didn't tell Terra anything about Xehanort or how close Xehanort is to darkness when they knew he was and could have told Terra. Peaple also talk about how Terra fell for Xehanorts tricks... but never mention how Eraqus, ventus and also Aqua did at times too.
    I hope that in phase two of KH that Terra gets more of the spot light since Aqua got a lot of screen time in phase one and Ventus is getting a ark in KHUX. Maybe they can give him a redempion ark kinda like Riku? Or give him a new goal like instead of wanting strength or wanting to be a keyblade master, they should give him something else to show ho he's grow from the BBS Terra?

      Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! That's also an excellent point, I wrote this while acting as if Eraqus and Yen Sid didn't know how close to the Darkness Xehanort was but they clearly did. So they failed everyone that way, too. I don't know that Terra needs a redemption arc necessarily but they could definitely give him a PTSD recovery arc if they wanted, I think that would be awesome but I'm not sure if it really fits into Kingdom Hearts. At this point, I'm just afraid the Wayfinder trio might be completely discarded in the next phase of Kingdom Hearts. As long as they're heavily involved in some capacity I'll call it a win!

    Great video, friend! I really like the way you frame this as an ethics of care and advocacy for support. It isn't the darkness --but how one perceives the darkness--that matters. At least that's part of what I got from the Terra/Riku discussion. Also, it seems that confirmation bias is at play when Terra's friends believe he is consumed with darkness or is evil.
    Also, bomb music from Coney Island Disco Palace!
