Love seeing the smaller Clans getting represented :) As someone who knows nothing really about the lore, I appreciate more variety than „just“ the big five :) Would love to see more of that!!
Those video are just so handy, many thanks. I am now painting my Tyranids thanks to your video with the three colours schemes btw. The only difference with you is that i didn't used the Black Templar at the end because i like the colour scheme without.
Subscribed because of these Skaven painting series! If you consider another video of this, please do Clan Mordkin (though perhaps you will need some conversion :)
Firstly, don't worry about the bad camera angles. I didn't notice my camera was angled too high when filming the introduction to my Skaventide unboxing, and instead of showing the full back of the box, I showed like the top 2 inches 😂 When it comes to fur to skin ratio, it's often good to look at real rats. Though I've literally finished putting my first 20 together, and I've noticed around their wrists/ankles, there is actual sculpted hair, which is insane. I can't wait to paint these guys!😊
I'm glad you went for the old school Skryre scheme from the old heraldry book. I'm not sure why they chose to recolour it for AoS, that green and bronze looks fantastic!
@@MediocreHobbies Maybe but it would be cool to see more obscure clans get painted to encourage creativity. I'm planning to paint clan Skrittlespike because they're unique no one has ever painted them.
A recipe I use for bronze is to paint and highlight it silver, and then glaze it over with gore-grunta fur contrast. Sometimes leave it like that or highlight it with Screaming Bell. Turns out a real nice deep browny orange brass/copper colour.
I might actually do that Clan Vulkan thing, that's a pretty neat color scheme for Skaven I wouldn't have thought of, and the standard ones are pretty... I mean, GW even said that "Clan Eshin has one of the coolest color schemes among the Skaven" in their official painting video for them, and then proceeded to paint them entirely Black and Grey. Molder for the red armor or Vulkan for the obsidian blades and red fur looks pretty nice.
I think, that it is absolutely ok, to make Skaven pretty diverse in their color shemes. So maybe red for Clan rats, turquoise for Rat Ogors, brown for Stormvermin, green for Plague monks, Eshin grey for night runners, Blue&yellow for Stormfiends etc. Also the metallics can be absolutely mix&match. That aside, thx for your videos. Really appreciate 'em.
I guess you used Gore-Grunta fur for the belt as well as the fur tuffs? Is there a secondary color for clan Skryre other than green that is a predominate color?
another question. on your previous video you used cadian fleshtone and now your using kislev flesh. which do you think is better if you can buy only one to go over the guilliman flesh?
i use kislev flesh as a second highlight over cadian fleshtone, if you're only buying one go for cadian fleshtone as kislev is quite a big jump from guilliman flesh by itself.
As a general rule, Brass is more Burnished Gold-like. It's usually not QUITE as yellow as gold, but a polished brass and a polished gold are going to look very similar. Bronze has a more reddish hue. Not quite as red as Copper, but much more red than Brass.
I really hope you've gone forward on your clan Vulkan, especially with the amount of Weapon teams' you can put on a table soon! With the pestelin's theres nothing stopping you making your Monks and priests wear those robes....or frankly wait for the newer models!
Not sure one can field Rats from different clans at one time in the same game, but if your opponent is OK with it, then that works. Old World could be different from 40k or AOS.
There are zero restrictions on what colour clothes your rat's wear which is basically what clans are. Units in AoS have a keyword relating to their clan based on the type of unit they are and you need an appropriate hero to lead the regiment they're going into to form a normal regiment otherwise you can take them as auxiliaries.
@martinmountford1981 IT seemed to me that each clan has its own rule set or abilities. Thus, I thought they could not use them at the same time. I believe that you can field a Whire Scars and Dark Angels army at the same time, though both are Space Marines. If that isn't the case with the Skaven, then I guess I am mistaken.
Clan Skryre for me. They seem to encompass the iconic aspects that make skaven, well skaven. Not sure of I remember this right. Both brass and bronze are copper & tin mixtures. Brass is brighter and more ornamental, while bronze is darker and sturdier for making armor and weapons.
@@MediocreHobbies can't wait to get the paints i need to start, just figuring out how to trim off the scenery parts and merge the parts I can't with the base ideas in my head
idk why but for some reason til just the other day I had it in my head that clan Skyre scheme was blue and orange. I have literally no idea what could of made me think that. But thats how I had it in my head. I much prefer the green however...
Don’t feel too bad about having trouble telling brass and bronze apart. They’re very similar colours and they’re both horribly misrepresented by miniature paints, which often make them a desaturated copper colour

Thank you for the video ! I wasnt sure which scheme to to go with but clan Moulder is perfect for me ! Thank you !
Oh great choice! glad you enjoyed!
I’d really love to see a take on Clan Skurvy. I miss those pi-rats 😢
Already done for old world.
Now I want to paint skavens 😅. As ever, this channel's quality is amazing.
Cheers for that man, really appreciate it
Fantastic video- i was just looking at that book and had picked Volkyn, so great timing
Good choice!
That Volkn looked insane. Wasn't sure when you started but loved the end product.
Thanks man!
I loved the little rebreather on the Skryre option of the new Clanrats, so characterful!
Yeah the new sculpts are so cool
Love the paint schemes you used for the different clans, by the way. 😊😊

I wonder if you could paint the armour to look like bone instead of conversions?
Ok Clan Volkn is awesome! Pyromaniac rats who live in a volcano?! I don't think it gets much more awesome than that. Great job
I know right?! So cool
Amazing series so much appreciate these for us beginning in the hobby
Another amazing video! Please keep these coming 😊
Thank you! Will do!
These are very helpful painting videos.
Glad you think so!
Man, Fantasy/TOW is the one game where EVERY SINGLE FACTION is just so cool. I could see myself playing each and every one of them.
I know, it's too hard to choose. Just start then all haha
Thanks for the informative and well explained tutorial. Squeak-squeak! 🤩🐀🐀🐀🐀
You’re very welcome, glad you enjoyed it! 🐀

I'd love to see every single skaven clan painted!
Haha that would never end :D

Congrats on 50k subs!
Thanks so much!
Well done of 50k. Well deserved!!
Thanks so much!
love me some skaven content, I decided to go with a different clan this edition previously I was clan Mors now I'm doing clan Scruten.
i love the clan Volkn!!!! ty for the video!!!

Clan Vulcan is really cool like the scheme you came up with there.

More Clans needed yes yes!!!

did you mention what these were primed with? I didn't catch it if you did. Could you explain if you airbrush or rattle can and the product name?
@@GingerBreadMan... rattle can.
Chaos black solid coat and then a rough coat of grey seer over that.

Can you do a white/purple/gold color scheme for the Stormcast. Think it would look pretty cool 👌🏻
Also loving the rats ❤

I did indeed! I think the clan got updated for age of Sigmar so you can see more photos online of the colours!
Great content!

I think moulder is the exact clan look I want!
Perfect!
17:11 why use air color on paint brush?
It’s just a prethinned version of the same paint!
Hi Andy love youre paint tutorial can you do
1.Clan Skurvy page 46 yellow color and Clan Feersik page 60 purple color
Greeting for the Netherlands
Clan Skurvy is linked in the description! Glad you liked the video!
Bronze is muddy silver, brass is muddy gold...least that's how I think about it :) Eshin and Pestilent for me
Oh that’s a really helpful way of putting it! Thank you!!!!
carian and kislev flesh. what is different?
Cadian has more warmth to it, Kislev is a lot paler so it’s good to highlight Cadian with.
I really love the clan volkn and basing them in a volcano
That would be so cool!
@@MediocreHobbies can't wait to get the paints i need to start, just figuring out how to trim off the scenery parts and merge the parts I can't with the base ideas in my head
Why didn't you use the color "white" as a background on all the miniatures?
White washes out a lot of colours and I prefer dark backdrops for models that would never been seen out in the sun anyway 😄
Volkn lives! Yes-yes!
how about clan skurvy?

Brass and copper make bronze.
