    I'd vote for kicking the difficulty down and turning off hide the infested quests so you can go to the wasteland. Higher difficulty dosen't make the game any harder it just makes the zombies take 400 hits to kill.

      This is my big problem with a lot of these survival games. Dev's idea of difficulty is to make things into bullet sponges, rather than being creative and redistributing zombies in larger numbers. It's one the biggest dissapointments with 7 Days. There are a hundred ways to make something harder without making the mobs into indestructable gods. Just my humble opinion. That being said, I would just kick the difficulty down for the days your dealing with wasteland stuff, if for nothing else, atleast so you can check out some of those cool looking POI's.

      Worst case? “Hey guys, who has a weapon that isn’t broken?”

      R8 + HiPow Ammo+ shockwaves grenades + turrets and he won't need to change any settings. The thing is that Misery becomes a real problem later. Nevertheless, there is no need to rush the Wastelands. Loot should be good in both the Desert and the Snow while he levels up the Technogeek class.

    In our purge game the
    wasteland had about 80% tainted zombies in every poi. Can't imagine rebirth being any different. By this point we were using guns only with AP ammo. No sword unless it was a loner or a wraith or a wandering horde with ferals etc... We had to install the brass catcher mod because we never had enough brass. We would roll out with about 4000 rounds each of assorted bullets and slugs every time we left the base.

    I totally agree with the loot thing. It removes incentive and excitement from the game when things are so linear. The chance doesn’t have to even be that high, but if we had that chance to get lucky it would breathe life back into questing and looting POIs.

    • @DarkSunGameplay
      @DarkSunGameplay 5 дней назад +1

      It honestly reminds me back in Alpha 19, back when loot stage didn't exist and game stage dictated the loot you found. Back then, there was no increase in loot quality in containers, POI's, or biomes, either. If you were at x level and were finding (at max) quality level 3 tactical assault rifles, the chance of finding a green or blue edition was a flat 0% until you leveled up some more, and I'll be honest, aside from A17 perhaps, A19 was my least favorite alpha of all-time. I barely played it.
      There's another factor that GNS didn't cover, and that is that the maximum cap for loot stage is roughly a third lower in 1.0 than it used to be in A21. Even if looting was as important as it was back then, it wouldn't remain relevant for nearly as long before you would max out your character anyway.

Totally my own opinion, but it's like all my favorite things died in 1.0. I think TFP made everything so locked in and limited - they just took too much choice and surprise away - which is a huge part of the draw.

    I could be wrong... but I have been playing rebirth as well, I am only day like 25 or something, so no where near you; however, I have crafted the profession books for like 5 different professions and each of them says "if you hit level (let's say 6) for Sous chef, then you keep your levels even if you switch professions". That's how I understand it from reading them. So I am slowly getting all the books made to switch professions, and just waiting until I hit the 'proficiency' level before switching. I want to go through all the professions. The only issue is the grind it is to level everything up lol. But again, that is what I understand from reading it. So could be wrong, but you could likely switch professions and keep your levels in butcher, and butcher aura mod still be active, while starting new profession and class.

    Regarding the repair of the base by NPC - they give a report on items missing if they can't locate the items in a broadcasting chest. So when you go back into the repair option - there will be a report option if they were unable to repair something. Also on the mining, I think level 1 will return around 4k of the requested item plus the other byproducts of stone/sand/clay. As they advance, the amount slightly increases, but not by 2x - think incremental improvements. As someone who likes mining, I only use them to get resources I need quickly in a pinch.

    A couple thoughts on your experience with tainted and the comments you made in the outro. Melee against tainted is very hard, especially with the powered wakizashi, which is specifically designed for 1 on 1 high damage but kind of lags against crowds. Tainted have very high hp and regen, although the fire and bleed from the powered wak stop the regen (so do explosions, incidentally, for you madmen). But the powered wak doesn't have a knockdown, which can make it tough.
    Having said that, there is a way to buff your melee damage and attack speed, and you mentioned it - berserker. You'll lose the AK-74 until Berserker lvl 10 (except on horde nights), but you can still use your turrets (though not the special "drop free turrets" skill that the geek gets). You get very good damage and attack speed buffs as you level zerk, and rage kicks it into very high gear. If you want to primary melee, you would probably need to think about whether that's the way to go. Otherwise - yeah, tainted are very tough, even for max levels.
    If you were to switch to berserker, you'd still be a lvl 10 butcher, with all the bonuses you get from that - you'd just also get the berserker bonuses on top of it, plus rage (and the rage panther!). You would have to level berserker up, obviously, but you'd be doing it with a high level bleed and the powered wak. In your place, I'd wait until Technogeek 6 so I could keep my aura and turret skills (also you might consider looking at shockwave grenades, if you want some more utility - though it's one more thing to track and juggle), but it's something to consider if you want to keep progressing. Right now you've maxed your sword skills, so they're not going to improve unless you go berserker.

      @@GunsNerdsandSteel Agreed.
      the longer I think about it the harder it seems to be getting a balance here...
      Best scenario would probably be that you can loot high level items, but you can only craft the best ones / upgrade them to be the best with crafting.
      That way you can be happy about looting good stuff, but crafting also doesn't become obsolete because to get the best out of it, you will still need to craft stuff (/upgrade it).

      @d9sinc390 5 дней назад

      @@mementomori5580 Honestly, that would be a great thing. Get it so you can only get the best stuff by crafting it and by looting you can scrap the weapons into parts (more than just 1 part per tier so maybe a tier 5 bow could give 6 bow parts) and you would need a bit more bow parts to make the Tier 6 Bow, but it would be a reason to put in effort into crafting and would give looting a purpose too beyond just trash to sell.

  • @Kevrik
    @Kevrik 6 дней назад +3

    So i get the idea of the old style, it was great to shake things up and you didn't feel bound to a specific path that you chose 10,20 50 hours ago as a really good piece of loot in another tree and one skill reset and you could be someone new, it made it so in a single run you could experience things more and adapt the way the loot went keeping things fresh and really helping out with general game fatigue because the change in style felt like big upgrades even if on paper they were clost to the same tier or maybe only 1 tier higher.
    That said I think a bit of nostalgia for this kind of system is creeping in, it wasn't fun to have a system in mind but essentially not be allowed to play it or at least have it feel like you are purposely gimping yourself because the loot was going another way. While we adapted to the system I have seen more than enough get the other side of the loot gambling because we remember the time we open a chest and get the crucible in week one but we tend to ignore the runs where we struggle to find it week after week which is part of the downside crafting aims to fix, crafting gives players choice.
    My thoughts on the system is that crafting needs really three things to support it in the state it is in. First a simple crafting piece not to make a new item but to upgrade existing ones potentially to a significant degree. Finding say a shotgun refining kit that jumps a shotgun a full tier still gives that same kind of woah big score when you upen a box, but it doesn't detract from crafting, you kind of get a system where crafting is a bit slower but reliable while looting can be faster but you cant guarantee what you will get. Second quest givers need to have their loot changed to interesting items that allow you to expand to things you otherwise wouldn't get in the train to survive, survive with training which trains you to survive loop. These would be things like the boosters or trainers in rebirth but in a more impactful state as well as items that you cannot really craft/ don't really want to craft, this gives an incentive to quest because the item is cool and worth it if you don't have to grind the parts and craft it. The final tweak would be to create a new type of loot container, one that has a very small very specific loot pool or better yet a psuedo loot container that is more of a crafting station. For the crate it is linked to the site and gives something good and specific to that kind of area, a military site having a cabinet with specifically a good quality military grade weapon and a good piece of military grade armor. For the crafting one which I like a bit better at the moment it would be something like an industrial machine in POI's that we cant salvage or build, it has the materials to craft or improve a specific thing and then either breaks or runs out of an important resource you can only find in similar machines this keeps you from spamming it, food places can make a ton of a type of reasonable food, libraries can produce schematics or books, bigger firearms stores can manufacture a weapon of your choice from 2 or 3 options or tune up. These would only be in mid to high tier places (weaker ones could be in mid and so on) and the point of them is to give a viable way to switch over to something when you start to fell locked in.
    But that's just my two cents from someone who leans slightly more to the crafting than looting side but still understands the enjoyment that can come from lucky looting.

    To your ramble at the end..... Yes I have to agree. and the worst thing is, nerfing loot and traders did not make the game harder. I used to be fully equipped, like highest tier gun at around day 40 or something like that before 1.0. In my last playthrough I was fully equipped with the full ato shotgun at day 24. They just made all the POI's useless unless they have lots of books in them. I'm not a fan of the learning by looting system it is way too easy to manipulate so you just rush trough the magazines. If I remember correctly, Undead Legacy won't have this system.

      @kskdaredevil8512 5 дней назад +2

      Yeah, I got a Drone in my last vanilla playthrough at day 15. So much to the trader "nerf". I wish they would bring back a mixture of the learning by doing skills and the skills which you purchase by skillpoints. Also they should rearrange the skilltrees and give us the chance again, to loot good items and to get good quest rewards. There is still so much more potencial in 7days. They should work together with Subquake, Khaine and the other authors of those great mods and melt the best things of those into vanilla to create the best outcome. Like the schematic system of UL, class systems like DF or Rebirth and so on. And the game would definetly be better with a bigger variation of vehicles and weapons in vanilla like in the big overhaul mods. So much they should do, that we should send them a list. Overall vanilla how it is in the moment feels more like a unnatural streched experience with a lot build in mechanics to slow you down without more reason than to waste your time. Also, I miss the randomness of the traders.

Before I would loot cars on the way from spawn to group up with my friends and sometimes take a quick dip into the wasteland and pull out something like an iron axe. It's why I didn't enjoy Valheim as much because the progression in that game is so structured. Problem with Rebirth is that the multi-classing doesn't really work as well as it was supposed to. When you can/want to switch classes, zombies already evolved to the point where even basic ones have 500+ HP, making the class/weapon leveling real pain. Sure, you can turn the evolution off in the Settings, but that removes one of the best features of the mod.
    Anothe big issue is the loot - after you make whatever last tier weapon you want, all loot becomes essentially worthless aside from occasional mod (the special variants).
    And re tainted zombies - given how much health they have, the last shotgun becomes mandatory. Not only because it's the best weapon in the mod, but because you can make essentially unlimited ammo for it, while every other weapon type is bottlenecked by brass. Ramsey should consider adding 'Brass catcher' mod Khaine made for DF into the base game.

    The issue with finding stuff in loot is that it then kills incentive to craft especially if you can just head off to the wasteland loot some easy containers and boom end game gear.
    I think the solution is to remove biome modifiers for both difficulty and loot stage, make gear appear only in end loot chest, get rid of those stupid lockpicks and have it so the trader gives you an item that unlocks the chest. the quest rewards can give gear but it should be kept at quality 1 this way it still gives the player an incentive to craft the better version if they want more mod slots along with the benefit of well I can't craft it yet but at least I got this awesome armor or weapon, also a bump to the resources that are given 1 food item as a reward is stupid. As far as the zombies go I like what this mod does where it adds zombies that buff the others with more damage, defense or heals. I don't know why TFP gave up on new zombies with new abilities which would add more challenge.
    Berserker class is rough. I've been playing it and It needs work since you can't use the good guns and are stuck with pipe weapons outside of horde night. the rage buff you get for the class isn't that good since its limited by a cooldown. I think if the cooldown on it got removed it would make the class much more playable even if it was only through the use of rage capsules which you can't use if the cooldown is active.

    Hello and good morning, Tem. I wanted to say, first off, that I am enjoying your content especially this series. I know this is not really your forte, but do you think you could do a *'How To Rebirth' series? I am trying to keep up with everything your doing on this series, but I am seriously lost. I've looked over the Rebirth Discord, but I am a visual/hands on learner and do no really retian info by just reading it. Maybe things to do first, things to go for first, character pro's-cons, etc etc. Also, why are there so many of the pink/purple zombies in all the POI's?

    I agree with you. I don't like 1.x as much. If you follow their path getting all the CTRL-Y perks done when you can, and doing several quests each day to work through the traders, by about day 21-22 you are level 6 on your primary armor and primary melee weapon and on some ranged weapon. I'll have dew collectors and gardens to keep me in disposables. It's just too deterministic. I don't want to deliberately not do well, but geez. It was more fun before.
    I'm also unhappy about random gen roads. They don't go anywhere anymore. All travel is cross country now. Almost no roads go from one town to another or one trader to another. That's broken as. They've seriously taken a lot of fun out of the game for me.

    Nerfing the traders, and removing ' win the lotto' loot finds; funneling one into a Build path, works in games that have an story line and end game ( closure ).
    In a game like 7D2D; hollowing out the casino leaves the hallowed vacuous church of 'grind to no where'.
    I think the screamers showing up at the drop of a hat now proves the funpimps know they have unbalanced the wheel and are trying to move forward by stretching foundations: if the FunPimps are gonna put you on a path that path should lead somewhere: perhaps they should ask Grok to write them a story line in the style of Harlin Ellison wherein the essence of the futility of life fighting death is shown to not be a waste of time through a couple of "win the casino moments" combined with path grind payoff moments offering a way out of the zombie wastes ( or not if all your days at the casino are bad )

    Put ramps instead of jumping steps. They work better. Also use them around the base plate of your base.
    Also make sure to dig up 3 more blocks above APC spot, 2 for you, 1 for blocks. You can cause issues if you force your way into placed blocks, either you take damage, the block does and the apc wipes stuff out. Or you get stuck "falling" in the block, you just float there unable to do anything....don't ask how I know this.

    Btw why don´t you use the forth side of the Base to build a second tower as a crafting base addtion to have anything on the same level. You could even connect some floors of both towers.
    Then you would have "Two Towers" (the 2 Tower alliance) 😅

    Fun Fact: The wasteland is not the hardest place. The burning forest is MUCH worse (It has the full two skulls, not just 1,5 like the wasteland, also there is debris everywhere instead of the wasteland).
    Ich did the Witchhunterclass, Soldier second and then the Thug. The Savage (highest club) is completley useless in the wasteland. The Reaper (Scythe) is okay. The Stormbringer (Axe) is actually INSANE. Seems liek this is the only viable Meele-weapon for lategame so far. But yeah, wasteland and burning forest are just straight ammunition-sponges with no Loot that's really worth it. Kinda makes the lategame very boring sadly. But I really loved the mod!

    Hey Tem. Rough hearing you sound borderline discouraged/burn out. You're a great creator and I hope the community helps you through this rut. So, here's some info to help motivate you. Tier 6 items can't be crafted, only looted. There is reason to venture the wasteland and the burnt forest (highest diff in this mod). The walkman gives bufffs only when you have the music playing, good buffs too. Hit backspace with the walkman mod equipped, use the +/- keys to raise/lower volume. You can have it on and the volume all the way down and get the buffs. The music though is good, and the discords states it's streamer friendly. Super corn is where the money is at. 1 5x5 plot (25 corn) will yield 40-50k. Plant 3 or 4 plots like that and you can speed up POI's to impacting and loot and not have to mess with snatching up everything for nickels and dimes. That process alone after the first 7-10 days even makes me start dreading walking into a POI. Need the funds, can't -not- do it, but ugh. Soon as I get Farmer Trader unlocked, I spend the pillaged funds on super corn for seeds if I haven't found some by then. That's the fastest way into the chopper. You are not limited to 2 classes anymore, upon reaching level 8 in witch doctor, 10 berserker, 6 in everything else you can reclass and keep your buffs and knowledge. Witch doctor and berserker do have a few restrictions that can only be active while those classes are your current active class. So feel free to go ham and try all the classes out. The Purge scenario is really good, feels more like a story driven play through. A new update was released a few days ago, save friendly, that made snatching items faster, more items can be snatched up, bear rug and bear statue included, and some other stuffs. Hope this helps. Cheers.

    One if the rare games where the more they change it the less I like it. I would make the loot more random again and not based on loot stage. The higher the loot stage would of course increase the chance of getting better, and more stuff in chest. BUT there is still a small chance of getting a crucible on day one in some random garbage on the side of the road. Other thing I would do is change the magazines. I would make it so that all action skills are learn by doing. All crafting skill are learned and upgrade by reading magazines. I might even change the armor a bit by adding back in the accessory spot. For stuff like the cigar, puffer coat, bandana, and other stuff they took out. I would also think about a wallet spot that doesn't take up an inventory spot. The wallet would be limited to 20k and if you went over that amount then the extra coin will take over the next item spot in the bag pack.

    I wished rebirth had crew weapons like that in Helldivers. That tainted POI needed a mortar team just to rain down 81mm fire, because that is a difficulty that isn't fun anymore. That's a lot of problem with the overhaul mods, too many are just sponges that make it so boring.

    i see the point about finding loot and being like hell ya!! and that was fun dont get me wrong , but on the flip side i like the crafting for better stuff i feel that if u find the good stuff per say early it makes the game go by too fast imo if i was just finding good stuff all the time in boxes why do i need to craft stuff other than for building and certain things.

    Learn by doing, but have it capped by perks in attributes.
    You can’t progress weapons past stone/pipe without strength being above say, 2. Doubzies from 2-4.
    You need to use the items to progress them. But you also need to invest perks into attributes that have them.
    Learn by doing. But with perks.
    Legendary items should be purely random drops. You shouldn’t be able to craft anything above tier 5.
    Period. (Or make a new their 7, that is Actually Legendary, and only lootable. 1-5 odds in an infested cache on tier 6 missions.
    Random tool/weapon. Grants perk points. Has built in CUSTOM mods specifically for it that can’t be removed. (Think m80 with a Double Drum Mag mod, or an D-eagle with a built in muzzle brake that removes all recoil. Something along the lines of this just might be broken- broken. )

    I agree with the looting thing also. I still do it though, steal the loot just because I can. They've been restricting player agency in vanilla for a while now, I'm not a fan of that at all. Loot and traders aren't guaranteed places to find useful things well above a player's level anymore. Now we're hunting books to learn to craft instead of loot stashes for tangible items. As for learn by doing determining what a player specializes in, I'd rather have that than learn by books only like vanilla.
    Good decision to leave those Wasteland POI's to the purples for now!

    I think you're forgetting what 7 Days To Die is based off of; Minecraft. The key is to craft. People used to complain about the game being too easy. Finding a crucible the first week would be too easy. However, there should be, on rare occasions, times when you find high tier loot.

    To me "the good old days" was when you had to loot weapon parts and craft the weapon. Then looting a better part so you could incrementally upgrade your weapon was great. I don't like magically finding an incredible weapon. That's WoW stuff.

    As a new player to 7 days it does feel bad to put points into a weapons skill and never find one of those weapons. 3 points in shotguns and I never found a single shotgun until I had already crafted the level 6 auto shotgun. The devs need to turn back to a more survival-based system with the current looting style.
