I agree. I would add that Ruyi treasured & deeply felt the innocent, pure love of Ling Yunche. He wanted so much for her to find happiness, even wished that the Emperor would love Ruyi as much as she loved her “Prince Hongli.” Yet, he knew deep down that the Emperor would betray her and that life in the palace would be hard & dangerous. But, he stayed true to Ruyi his only desire was to continue to unconditionally love and protect Ruyi forever. Many blessings!!
@@dbeazrn3934 of course, Ruyi clearly loved Ling Yunche, Rong Pei and Suoxin and was deeply loved by them. These were a different type of love between master and servant. She always had to maintain a certain distance and superior relationship with them, whereas Hailan was like a sister to her all those decades.
Ling Yunche was definitely a tragic figure as his love and protection of Ruyi ended up making him increasingly more miserable until his death through no fault of his own. He never deserved any of it and no matter what Ruyi did she couldn’t protect him.

Because, and this is the only time you will ever hear me defend this asshole- He had no choice: His choices were either 1) Put Ruyi in the cold palace where she's 'mostly' protected ((Remember, everything but Ruyi poisoning herself to get out was discovered by the emperor because of the INSANE security the Cold Palace has)) OR 2) Wait until someone kills Ruyi just to get her out of the way while he finishes the investigation about Mei and Shu's children dying.
When everything happened he had very little if any power- Shu and Mei's clans were raving at the children dying as well as everyone wanting "Justice" ((The kind that's rushed)) because it just HAD to be Ruyi because of the Empress' framing and A'Rou's help and even despite her hatred of Ruyi the Empress Dowager knew that something was up because A'Rou tried to poison Ruyi.
His lack of power and ability to go "No, I'm the emperor shut up" caused him to have to make the choice that to keep Ruyi alive he had to go there. It's why he was so "apologetic" here and why Ruyi's not too much a fan., He told her why but in the end, she had to endure all the shit and it was his way of trying to make amends.
I think the emperor loved Ruyi but because of his harem, position, definitely his personality and other oitcome. He didnt love Ruyi like she deserved. There is time he showed effort but...yea

Dang even back then stretch marks was still looked down upon. It is normal for things like this to happen. Even some men get this when they work out. When your skin stretches fast in a short period of time stretch marks appears. Sometimes if they dont have an obvious presence then they can easily be 'smooth' out (not sure the exact term) and sometimes they cant. 😅

It's because all the women of the Harem historically had to go through a strict physical examination process before they were even considered. Normal things to everyday people like body hair, armpit odor, and noticeable scars were disqualifying factors (if I remember correctly) They were literally held to beauty standards that were beyond human. So yeah a member of the harem getting stretch marks would almost definitely lower her status.

@@RoyalDarkness107 other way to see it is that Empress Dowager doesn't want anyone to monopolize power, it would also serve as a warning to Ruyi, if she tries to monopolize or harming anyone for power, Dowager will not help her and possibly end as her Aunt of the Jingren Palace
Empress dowager want Ruyi shining and fight back for her right not just let empress and other concubine gain more power and dominant in the harem...
