    I use to love Action man as a kid. I had all the uniforms and weapons. Good memory's I loved the uniforms of WW2. There was a black Action man called Tom Stone which didn't last very long. I do miss those days when I was a kid. I am 52 now but I do think back to the good times I had with my Action men. 👍👍👍

    Back in '69 I remember most enjoying chucking my Action Man off the roof in his Red Devil Parachutist guise; I don't think the parachute ever functioned properly though. The Ski Patrol with the green goggles was another favourite.

      @AnalogToys  7 лет назад +1

      The Ski Patrol was a great outfit. I also used to chuck my Red Devil out of the bedroom window but the parachute didn't work very well did it!

      I had the red devil parachutist the early version of this came with a red white and blue parachute later ones came with an orange one which was bigger and worked slightly better. One of my action men got a broken arm out if it and spent many a month with his arm in a sling while different types of glue was used trying to fix it lol

    Oh yes man, I really like this video.
    I'm 54 now, and got my first action man when I was 10.
    I've still got them, my son played with them and went with me to action man fairs here in the Netherlands.
    Sometimes I make extra stuff for them, now working on converting a Jynn Erso ( star wars) doll to a real action-woman, using my 3D printer to print body joints for her in true action man style.
    It's a bit of a shame they never made a good female version, with flocked hair, gripping hands and scar... Well, I will.

    I can remember going to Blackpool for the illuminations one year in the mid 70s and there was a toy shop there on the front it was near the Dr who museum at the time and it had a display window set up it was it was action man heaven stood there for hours just dreaming it was better than the illuminations definitely my favourite toy from my childhood

    I can remember shopping with my mum when I was about 4 or 5 and seeing the Action Man display in the toy department of the store we were in. As far as I can remember I knew of them so there must have been a TV advertising campaign(?). Anyway, it was near Christmas and she said I could choose an Action Man and an outfit for him to wear. I chose the deep sea diver set. Seeing it again here almost brings a tear to my eye. It was the start of an obsession, and I think about 25 Action Men and enough firepower to start a small war went through my hands in the ensuing 7 or 8 years. Thanks for the memories

    Loved my Action Man as a kid. He's buried somewhere in the garage but I recently was given a big bag of broken figures by a friend. Having restored Dinkys and Corgis, I have come back in to AM through rebuilding and customizing what I was given. Thanks to Dave at Toy Polloi, I have had the best fun in ages rebuilding and bringing 7 little guys back to life. Now have grey and ginger customs. At 54, I'm keener on AM now than when I was a 70s kid. It is true..Action Man is a friend and hero we just forgot. But he's still with us. 👏

    I remember being about 8, sitting in the car with my best mate Ian and seeing the first adverts for the gripping hands (unless it was the eagle eyes). But what I remember was that childhood excitement. Only had 1of the items in the list - the deep sea diver - my Dad didn't want us playing with guns so I had to take my stuff over the road as he had all the military uniforms. Wish I'd kept the mountie uniform that I sent off for though.

    Brilliant! Thank you for the video. I have to agree to the number 1 spot, The Lifeguard. However it is a pity about the helmet, as so many have the plume broken off, which mine did, when another AM figure fell off a high shelf on to it 😭😭 I do have the Blues and Royals outfit, complete with unbroken plume, which is safely boxed.

    I was just wondering about the origin or reason for the Intruder figure. Then I watched this episode and you named it the worst, most fitting. What were they thinking, plus he is not at the correct scale. Why hasn't anyone ever made a Hitler action figure, the obvious number 1 villain of all time. Uses could range for Action Man, GI Joe, Big Jim, and Indiana Jones. Do you know the reason for this?

    • @kjamison5951
      @kjamison5951 6 лет назад +1

      Sexton Creations It’s too specific. Every GI Joe or Action Man was generic, save for hair colour. What made them unique was their kit. The Intruder was specific and as a result, was hated. Also, if Hitler was produced, why not Mussolini or Stalin or Churchill or Roosevelt...?
      Action Man or GI Joe became what YOU wanted him to be. He parachuted into combat, fought in the jungles and the French resistance. But in his off periods, he explored jungles, polar areas or space. He even played football and cricket.
      Besides, sales of specific characters like Hitler would likely suffer as there would only ever be a few uniform choices for them. Action Man had a huge wardrobe of outfits.

    The German one must be so popular as every kid had to have a German soldier for the Paras, Royal Marines etc to fight against.
    The good guys have dozens of allied soldiers to share the sales figures, the bad guys only have one to take all the axis sales figures.
    Divide and conquer, the German soldier didn't sell many compared to all the British soldiers, but there were so many British soldiers to choose from so didn't sell many of any of them hence why the nazi is just as popular.
