This bloke makes me proud to be an Aussie, down to earth, humble and absolutely magic to watch ride. Mountain biking is exploding here so I hope we can keep producing legends like Sam 🇦🇺❤️
Oh! So that's how reality looks for Sam Hill! At first I thought the video was faster than normal, then I realized it wasn't the video... It's just that Sam Hill lives on a different dimension.
I've never been the biggest Sam Hill fan to be honest. It's not that I dislike him. Just never really caught Sam-Fever- But one thing I do REALLY like about him... Is his "no fuss" attitude. He's never seeking the spot-like through trying to be funny, hardcore, entertaining... He just throws down with insane speed and awesomeness... And lets that do the talking for him...
Woah, internet strawman retort but no real answer to the question. How very unpredictable, cough. Rather than argue like petulant children i will wish you a good weekend.
He is like Yoda on a mountain bike. Simply amazing. And in his home town of Western Australia, nobody knows who the hell he is. Nobody outside the MTB community knows we have a multiple time world champion, which is strange because we Aussies normally love all our successful sports stars. People in other countries would know more about him than his own home state citizens.
watching sam hills hot lap i couldn't believe the speed. i was looking through my settings to see if i had the speed turned to 1.5 on youtube. it wasn't sam hill is just super human!
Once you get to see Sam's cam you're just admiring how fluid he is, how he can roll from insides to edges like no problem and just overcraft through mine fields without losing speed. Wow. I wish I could roll like that.
That was great. The first time I saw Sam was in Dirt Magazine, in 2002, or so. Good to see he's been doing so well. Thanks for picking his brain and for posting this. Good stuff.
I think at most it is proof that Sam Hill doesn't need/want those things to still compete (dominate) at an elite level. Not sure it generalizes to everyone though. Always a treat to hear his insights!
Clearly what Sam is running is working well enough for him. I ride a Sentinel which has 29 inch hoops and run clipless pedal. Don't think I've had less fun on other set ups. Do what you like and if he is winning why swap it?
He should make training videos, everyone with mtb would buy it 🤣so fast and smooth 👌 Actually scratch that Sam Hill & Yoann Barelli the banter alone would be hilarious
He usually lets his riding do the talking. Lol. No gloves & flat pedals. Eats corners for breakfast. He is a cornering machine. Sam Hill & Chris Kovarik Aussie DH LEGENDS.
Legend. Would love to see what Jesse Melamed could do on some of his local (NS, Squam or Whis) trails.....assuming he doesn't own all of the KOMs already.
It's quite comical to see all the comments thinking he really is that fast. The video was no doubt sped up at the end with the gopro. If you listen to his breathing you can hear that it's clearly sped up. No person breathes that fast, not even while hyperventilating. Also unless the gravity was doubled physics doesn't allow for those type of movements. He takes 3 pedals and is moving at mach 5 at the start. Not trying to take anything away from Sam Hill's skills, but there was no need to speed the video up pinkbke... And lastly to prove it was sped up, he started at 6:25 and ended at 8:36 which is 2 minutes 11 seconds, yet his time was 3:23. That means the video was sped up around 1.5 times.
No full helmet, no gloves. Smacked my chin with a fully on last Sunday, not wearing it scares me. Love how he comments on the dogs line, lol. Hand guards are actually a great idea.
Nothing about Sam is "enduro bro" and I love it. Really refreshing to see. Can Pinkbike chime in as to the average gradient of that trail? I have a feeling that it isn't as flat as it looks.
Serious question with disclaimer: I’m fairly new to this. All the coaching I’ve ever gotten has constantly stressed “get low, get lower!” , “flatten your back!” But it doesn’t seem to be what SH is doing here. What am I missing here?
If you bend your knees too much it puts your knees too far in front of your pedals/ bottom bracket. When that happens, your weight balance is thrown off. Concentrate on less bend in the knees and more bend at the hips. Like you're doing a dead lift. Watch how "lee likes bikes" teaches people to ride. Hope this helps.
i think that when you get good enought to doesn't need coach, you can make some changes and go over the basics good rules (like in every things in life that needs practice). Sam's way is not for normal people get another example jajaja keep it up bro !
Who do you think we should do a Hot Lap with next? Let us know 👇
Josh Bryceland or Remy Metailler
Zakarias Johansen
Get Adam Price the privateer to do one. Be really interesting to see how he gets on against the pros.
Loic, Finn?
lolo
That’s the most Sam Hill has ever talked on film ever......EVER!!!
Lol yeah
Agreed
There's nothing wrong with choosing your words carefully..seems wise beyond his years..

So relaxing watching the master do what he does best!
Dog's gone for the low line... :-D
No Strava lines. Take a lesson from this guy, Strava warriors.
Christopher Vidito .clearly as he was stopping mid segment to point at some forest items he realised a top 10 time wasn’t gonna happen.
Yes, no Strava lines, Hill lettin' it be known.
@@eriksaunders6087 Just did. It was excellent. More Miranda Miller, please. :D
I dunno, there some perty fast riders on Strava round here.
What's a strava line?
I can feel the gforces of his cornering through the camera. Ridiculous how good this man is at cornering

how can you not be a sam hill fan? i do not understand.
that's pretty much sam hill fever man. I wasn't the biggest fan too. But once I saw Maribor 2008.. I knew he was not a legend but the legend.
The world is a strange and confusing place man... It's almost like... People are different and like different things. :D

"work hard in silence, let success make the noise"
"dog's going for the low line" hahaha love the comedy!
This is amazing. More of this pinkbike!
In my eyes he's the best mtbiker ever lived

I wondered about the people passing them on the trails, if they had any clue!
I find it hilarious how sam explains how to ride the trail, hes like 'Yeah you just do it'😂
"you just kinda get on your bike and ride down..."
Just love the sound of the tyres smashing the Rooth and the ground
I love watching Sam Hill ride it is like the bike has a brain and Sam is just on it, Sam Hill and the bike are one. Great thanks.
Smoooth as Golden. Sam, you make it all look butter smooth at warp speed! You shred bruh!
that scared me just watching it :D crazy how commited and smooth he is on the bike. Just awesome to see hes point of view
"Pretty grippy." - he attempted to lie. --- "No. It's not grippy." HAHHAHAHAHHAHA I'm dying @ 4:24
Its more that its grippy for him with his level of skills and what he is used to ridig.
it was paul the punter too haha
@@aidan8594 lol hahaha just noticed it
Just had to check if my playback speed had jumped up X2.

Super powers on a bike. Nice ride, Sam.

The peak of pinkbike content.
It's tough to get my dad saying, "what the sam hill" ... out of my head ✔
Sam: try to carry some speed...
Me: fck that’s a lot of speed lol
Sam Hill “Goat”
Sams so smooth he doesn’t need a gimbal or hero 7 stabilisation
The master at work
you can tell its sam hill coming by sound that suspension makes
Nobody rides a bike like Sam Hill. He's like some kind of bike grand wizard.
Pretty sure I seen him overtake Luke Skywalker on a speeder at one point.
Raymond Chapman that’s gay
Grand wizard is the title for the head of the KKK.
27.5 wheels, probably a smaller frame than recommended and flat pedals. Proving that 29ers, big frames and clips don't make you faster haha
I think at most it is proof that Sam Hill doesn't need/want those things to still compete (dominate) at an elite level. Not sure it generalizes to everyone though. Always a treat to hear his insights!
or you could just run what size frame, wheel size, and pedals you have fun with... just a thought
I agree about the wheels but clipless vs flats it really depends on you but clipless has more advantage
Clearly what Sam is running is working well enough for him. I ride a Sentinel which has 29 inch hoops and run clipless pedal. Don't think I've had less fun on other set ups. Do what you like and if he is winning why swap it?
JACKYOUNG imagine how much faster he would be with a long , slack 29er ! Still use flat pedals though
impressive... that looked a great run.. nice.
Great video, great rider!
Sam Hill is a class act.
"Just gotta roll down this rock and fit through them trees."
Ooohhh, the RAW Sound
Nice trail.Sam is legend!
a master at work
There are mutants among us. Sam Hill is the chief one.
Reptilians
Sam Hill is a BEAST
that GoPro footage just makes this look crazy dangerous...Trees,roots,rocks everywhere!
He should make training videos, everyone with mtb would buy it 🤣so fast and smooth 👌

Watch Sam ride make me feel woefully inadequate. Damn the man can ride.
Sam: Just gotta slow up a bit to fit through those trees down there... Also Sam: Whooshhhhh
That is a sweet ride
Holy shit I had vertigo watching his lap, and he said it was slow. 😲
The guy is insane
Sam hill is a machine
750mm bars. Out come the saws for the die hard "oh we need 800mm bars for stability" crowd 🤣
Legend. Would love to see what Jesse Melamed could do on some of his local (NS, Squam or Whis) trails.....assuming he doesn't own all of the KOMs already.
Remi currently has the KOM on our test track! We'll need to get Jesse down soon...

So sick!
It's hilarious to me how he always looks so calm even after blasting through a trail. Breathing slightly heavier, haha
When you think you're in the inside, Sam will overtake your inside inside
No full helmet, no gloves. Smacked my chin with a fully on last Sunday, not wearing it scares me.
Love how he comments on the dogs line, lol. Hand guards are actually a great idea.
You can clearly see that hes a beast when he does hotlap without a full face helmet
Nothing about Sam is "enduro bro" and I love it. Really refreshing to see. Can Pinkbike chime in as to the average gradient of that trail? I have a feeling that it isn't as flat as it looks.
Definitely not the steepest trail around but some of the rock slabs and chutes are pretty steep!
Love my power saddle
The speed up POV tho!
Man I would love to have Sam Hill cheer me on while riding
That is the most anyone has ever seen Sam talk
Lol ikr
What tyres are they? They sound so well dampened!
Anyone know what brakes he’s using in this video?
Sam is freakin fast. Was that Paul the Punter on the camera?
Hey Sam, I love watching your flcks . Are you doing much in the way of new flicks ?
Hi, Sam's bike is a mega 290 or 275?
1:37 nooooooooooooo the disc :O hahahah
Eli Tomac! Ryan Villopoto! Justin Barcia! It would be good and you know it!
Sick video 🤘🏻
Christmas came early this year!

The branding on his outfit is subtle and tasteful.
When Sam hill says slow down he is not going slower he is going at a normal human speed 😂
dope handguards
Very polite!
So good ride and si little charisma
Sam is a comedian haha
Dogs gone for the low line.....
SAMMMM HILLLLLLL!
Hahah look at 3:44... His Face!! Ahaha LEGEND. THE MAESTRO!
6:44 things get serious'd
Nice trail, which one is it?
Oh and hot lap with Remy Metailler
Credit Line at Alice Lake in Squamish
The sound of both rebound valves working.....
Ducking hell it sounds like rolling thunder when Sam rides pedal to the metal
What helmet is he wearing?
What is the Sam's saddle?
Specialized power
That was insane. Although I couldn't understand a thing he said. You know us Americans.
Sam 🙏
Those dutty dawgs 😝
Encountering pros with cameras while glacially pick my way down the trail... MTB hell
was the pov shot with a hero 7?
Kero81 no, when he is at the bottom of the trail it shows him wearing a hero session on his chest
It was a hero session 5 in 1080 with the stabilization on.
Oh okay, thank you Guys. Is it just me or does the POV looks like Stopmotion?!
Dirty dogs straight line trails. Truth.
Why is the POV footage sped up??
nukeproofnukeproof is the best enduro bicycle
Does anyone know how tough those hand guards actually are? Obviously you're gonna crash anyway if you smash them into a tree but would they survive?
It's more about protection from branches and stuff.
6:18 technique 😂🤣
