This video will show how to correctly drain your Intex Ultra Frame round pool and then take it down for storage during the winter.
A few ways to drain the pool:
    1. if you have a main drain with the same diameter as the filter hose, you can use the pump to drain almost all of the water
    2. Use the syphon method
    3. if the pool as a small garden hose diameter drain, use it with the garden hose
In all cases, we’ll use the syphon method for the last few inches.
I’m going to show method 3 so you see both methods here.
Disconnect the pump from the electricity and move the 6-way valve to the N position.
Close both plunger valves by turning them clockwise.
Find the drain connector and hook up the garden hose to one side. Open the outside drain cap and push the drain connector hard until the inside cap opens up. Water is now flowing out. I recommend you bring the garden hose to your central sewage system as a huge amount of water is going to drain out.
It may look like the water will drain fast, however as less water will remain in the pool, there will be less and less water pressure and therefore draining the water will become slower over time. It could take a couple of days to drain everything up to the drain valve level.
When the water level is really low it’s a good opportunity to clean the water from dirt.
Once the water level is below the pool outlet to the pump, you can take apart the pump filter. Unscrew all the hoses. Remove both plunger valves (keep the washers with the plunger valves). Remove the strainer nuts and remove the nozzle and strainer from the inside of the pool.
Open the drain valve of your filter and give the filter some tilt so all the water will drain out.
Clean all the pump filter parts and hoses.
Once the water level is below the drain valve, use the syphon method to drain the remaining water. Remove the drain connector from the pool and from the garden hose. Put the hose directly in the pool at the lowest point where there’s the most water. I prefer to put the hose through the drain valve so the hose is flush with the pool floor.
The hose needs to be filled with water end-to-end. Instead of sucking water into the hose and getting filthy water in your mouth, here’s a nice trick: connect the other side of the hose to your faucet and turn it on for a few seconds putting water back into the pool, but just for a few seconds so that the hose will be filled with water. After a few seconds, disconnect the hose from the faucet and put it on the floor at a point which is lower than the lowest point of your pool. This will make sure the remaining water get drained from your pool.
Hours later, once the pool is empty, clean up the liner.
Remove the metal legs by clicking on the white button and pulling the leg downward. Continue around the pool removing all the legs. Each time push the liner inside so that the T-joints won’t fall on the liner but on the ground.
To remove the first T-joint, lift it up a little or push it towards the inside of the pool. Remove all the T-joints and horizontal beams. Gather all the pieces together for storage.
Flip the pool liner over to clean the outside of it. Then flip it back the right way up.
We recommend to put talcum powder all the way inside the liner to prevent the plastic from sticking to each other while in storage.
Stretch the liner on the ground and fold the pool walls as if it’s a square: first you fold 2 opposite sides and then the other 2 sides. You get a square with rounded corners. Fold one side towards the middle of the pool and do the same symmetrically to the other side. Once again fold one side half way to the middle and do the same with the other side then fold one half on top of the other. Now roll the liner all the way to get a nice cylinder. If you still have your original box, put the liner inside. Otherwise, find another box. Put some more parts inside the box as you can fit. Don’t expect to put everything back the way you bought it, that’s impossible. Find more boxes for the remaining parts.
Enjoy your garden until the next summer.

Thank you so much for this video! We left our pool up last year. Heavy snow made the cover collapse and in the end made more work! Protecting the liner ( temperature) is something I would have never thought of. Thanks again!

Thank for your thorough advice! Really helped. One suggestion that really made it easier was related to 8:16, for removing the horizontal tubes. On my pool, the liner was stuck to the horizontal tubes as water probably seeped in dried. I inserted a small rod into the liner space to “unstick” the tube from the liner. Unless this is done it was impossible to remove the tubes. Also, having a person hold the T connector while another pulls on the tube makes it a lot easier. Next year I’ll do this after in the sun for a while so that the liner is warm to allow it to be stretched and flexible easier. Thanks again for taking the time to help others!

Glad I could help. Indeed, this happens to me as well. The liner gets stuck to the horizontal tubes. But I find that I can just put my hand in there and detach it with just a little force.

Thank you for the detailed program. We are going out now to take it apart and you have answered many of my questions. WE appreciate your knowledge, and hope that we can get a lot in the box, but because we live where there is a lot of cold weather, Pittsburgh, I am going to store the liner in a heated area so it does not crack as my slip n slide did. Have a nice remainder of the summer.

Great video, exactly as I do it with mine here in the UK, a nice warm dry day is the best time to do it, as its important to have it completely dry to prevent mould. I am able to store mine outside over the british winter in a 240L 'Wheelie Bin' with the lid sealed with duct tape. Its useful to turn it upside down and crawl under looking for any pin prick holes, these are back lit from the sunlight and show up quite well.

We have the same pool. We've taken it down and stored it for the winter. We've also tried treating it and covering it for the winter; while leaving it up and covered saves time in the Fall, with all of the rain and leaves accumulating on the cover, I'm not sure it saves any time in the Spring. We are now draining it and will have to clean it anyway. Even though it's a lot of work (pools are a lot of work, in general) I think putting it away for the winter is the better option. Thanks for the video.

    • @SyncopaProductionsRS

Yes, it is expensive, but not if you look at the long run. Not mowing is one part. We used to have a gardener so now he has much less work to do.
And if you live in a hot climate then watering the grass is another big saving.

    2 questions..
    1: is your lawn real
2: isnt the powder an issue for refilling next season?

      Hi Elly,
      1. No, my grass is synthetic (and I love it :-)
      2. If you check my other video about setting up the pool, you'll see that we clean the powder before filling the pool with water. It's pretty easy to clean. Talcum powder doesn't stick. And if some powder is left over, that's also no big issue as your filter and skimmer will take care of it. It's no different from regular dust that's piling up in the pool.

Quick question for you. How do you clear out the baby powder next time you want to get the pool out? Thanks!

      Hi Alison,
check out our other video about installing the Intex above ground pool here:
      ruclips.net/video/XcZCvzl993w/видео.html
at 6:28 you can see us clean the pool walls with a cloth and then use a soft broom to bring all the powder together. You don't see the end in the movie, but we used a wet rag to pick up this pile of powder into a bucket.
      Good luck with your pool!
