Wayne Bergeron MASTER!!!Thank you for the video! Tell me please, Wayne plays the mouthpiece "Studio" or "Classic" on this video?

It's tough to tell, but I know his mouthpieces are color coordinated, with the studio being silver and and the classic being gold, seeing as the video is greyed I looked for how the metal reflected light, and there seems to be a significant difference in the luster of the metal from horn to mouthpiece, which leaves me to believe that he is playing on his STUDIO piece during this video. Hope this helps!

@@MGNarwhals Thank! Very thick, dark sound, so I thought it was a CLASSIC. It's amazing if this is a studio!

@@Yureczato no problem! And yes that's part of what makes Wayne the best! He doesn't let the mouthpiece determine his sound, just the ease of compression and frequency. Gotta love his prestige tone and efficiency!

What mouthpiece would you recommend for young beginners? 7 years old? Or even younger, like 4? I'm thinking of using my Bobby Shew lead...

Gauthier Östervall don't they start a lot of kids that young on a 10 1/2C

i agree with you on the young beginner starting with a mouthpiece that is just too darn large for their lips. Wish i had known then what i know now. Those players who are die hard Bach m`piece users are stuck in the old, out dated and obsolete designs from a hundred years ago...

I agree on Bach mouthpieces. The only reason I use one right now (1 1/2 C) is because when I returned to playing after a few years hiatus (didn't have time while also playing piano, organ and teaching) is because everything seemed to fall into place better than on the Schilke I had been using.

A neck puff is not caused by "poor breathing". I have recovered from a HUGE neck puff. Ask me how.
But his idea about the mouthpieces for beginners being too large is good advice.
The real problem we have with masters like Wayne is that they really don't understand the physics. Despite the minor problems he claims he once had? His chops basically always worked. This kind of combination only occurs in a small % of trumpet players. The rest of us simply MUST learn what physical laws are i play and then patiently correct our chops. This takes about three years. Read the STevens-Costello system.

How did you recovered? When I play the trumpet I have a puffed neck as well. Do you have some tips? Thanks

To reduce or eliminate a neck puff first requires developing the ability to identify those muscles in your neck and around the larynx that are able to withstand the tendency of the throat cartilage to expand once the air becomes pressurized inside the body. There are two kinds of occupations well known to produce a neck puff,
      A. Glass blowers, And,
      B. High note trumpet players.
Now before you get all nervous thinking to yourself,
''Am I going to ruin my throat by continuing to play high notes''?
Just remember to think critically while remaining optimistic. As I once had a HUGE neck puff but today it's barely noticeable.
