Great tutorial. One question, did you scoop the front neck part out a little more than the original pattern piece? Yours looks like it sits lower than the one I made. I like that better.
I actually used a straight stitch - this neckline doesn't need stretch to go over my head and after 2+ years of wear, no popped stitches yet. Though a lightning stitch would be great if you prefer :)
Thank you for this tutorial. Very helpful.
So glad you think so, thanks for watching! ~J
So very helpful Tami . The fabric is gorgeous too.

That looks so so nice!!!
Thank you! It's an easy technique for a professional finish :)
This is really good. Thank you!
k3of5ks you are so welcome!
Beautiful finish - love this so much better than a band you can see around the neckline! Classy. Thank you!
Glad you like it!
This looks so good xx
Live, Love & Learn Naturally thanks!
This was super helpful! Thanks so much!! Just a possible tweak- when you were sewing the music is pretty loud. 😊
Christy Campbell haha- getting the music right is my nemesis! Sorry about that
Beautiful finish, love it, thank you Tessa! Got the pattern. What fabric did you use for the facing? Such a professional finish!
Tamara Karlin Thank you! the main was DBP and the facing is DBP as well, just in white ❤️
@@LoveNotions Thanks Tessa! I thought it was like a knit binding, lol!

yoliebean I didn’t, I cut it just as it was on the pattern but maybe it’s a little lower because of the neckline facing?
Thank you, I understand it now, perfectly! Do you always line with a different color?
Jeanie McMahon nice! As far as the binding fabric, I did two with the white DBP and one with the main fabric to match :)
Do you use a fabric that is more stable for the facing?
Did you use a stretch stitch or a regular straight stitch?
I actually used a straight stitch - this neckline doesn't need stretch to go over my head and after 2+ years of wear, no popped stitches yet. Though a lightning stitch would be great if you prefer :)
Can you achieve same result with serger? I have double fold bias binder.
You can but it would be a little more bulky. This is our preferred method for a super clean and neat finish. ~K
What size did you make with that size neckband?
Robin E this is a size large
Is there a reason you didn’t use the same fabric for the neck binding?
Demonstration purposes. Usually using the same fabric is fine, though! ☺️ ~J
Also, some people like using premade fold over binding vs making their own. Use whatever you have on hand! ☺️ ~J
The way you did the neck binding, it looks like alot of bulk.
It is not at all bulky. And we recommend using a lighter weight fabric for neck binding if your main fabric is on the heavier side. ~K
