      Unfortunately, it's an industry standard issue! I have had both Ford and Chevy. Ford's customer service is just as bad. In fact awful from my experience and they are having lots of quality issues. I currently have a Ram that I've put 220,000 miles on without any issues so I can't talk about their customer service. Sorry about the headache for you. This isn't how they build and maintain customer loyalty!! I hope you don't have further issues. I've been debating purchasing the zr2 myself as a second truck as well, so it makes me second-guess the decision for sure!! Keep up the great content!!

    Just remove the fins and place a wire mesh to keep debris out. They're there for aerodynamics, basic fuel economy bs for the Z trucks, my 17 Silverado Z71 had them as well and I simply removed the fins since they really don't do anything. Then just ground the sensor, clear the code, and be on your way.
    You're welcome.

      or just get the raptor to where if something goes wrong the dealership will cover it. This is completely lame on how GM wont cover this part..its an offroad vehicle, why would they add this at the bottom to save MPGs makes zero sense.

    • @TheWolfMatt
      @TheWolfMatt 11 месяцев назад

      @@sunny8784 Not everyone wants a Raptor (though nice they may be). They're rather impractical unless you're always taking it off-road. Most of the ones I see have never seen dirt in their lives. Hell, my 19 GMC Sierra Denali has seen more mud than most of the Raptors out in my area. For me, the 6.2L in my Denali makes more sense than having my 17 Silverado Z71 as it's more comfortable for the family, has a 12k tow rating, can do plenty of off roading with the tires I have, and gets close to 34mpg on the freeway. Hard to beat in a Raptor for what I paid for it (49k used).

    • @sunny8784
      @sunny8784 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheWolfMatt they arent impractical, they have very similar specs to this bugged out chevy. In fact it has 100 more HP and more torque. It has crawl control, various settings identical to the ZR2, if i was going to rate the ranger, colorado or the tacoma, it will be ranger raptor at the top of the list, then the Taco then the ZR2. ZR2 has had major issues and bugs, such as the battery dying with software updates, these louvers, and its surprising on how this colorado cost more. im sorry but its another chevy fail.

    I was trying to buy a zr2 Colorado with the Baja package. MSRP it's a 62k truck. After 3 days of dealing with the sales person and picking out colors and options etc, placing deposit on this $62k truck, that is MONTHS out from delivery, I get to the part where I'm applying for an auto loan through GM. Another more senior sales person walks up to the table and puts down a piece of paper, then proceeds to explain that this already VERY expensive midsized truck is going to be $10,000 over MSRP because the Baja ZR2's are produced in such limited numbers and they only get so many of them. Nevermind that this truck hasn't been delivered and as far as I can tell they're ordering it for me. He claims that it's going to eat into their allotment of this specific trim level. I got up and walked out right then.

    • @LiveLifeGolden

      They hit you with that just after the point they reeled you in and assumed you'd cave. What you did is the only way to impact them. Walk away. 62k off their monthly quota. I'm sure someone had some 'splainin' to do to the sales manager. No matter what anyone says, they are not flying off the lots. Not many people spending 72k on a truck.

      It is BS and some chump with money to burn paid it so they keep doing it. The worst part about it, if you have an issue come up are they going to give you a white glove treatment? Nope. If they were smart, they would find a way to make you be happy to spend that money, create a luxury service experience package that is mandatory on rare cars, home pickup/delivery of vehicle with loaner, etc but nope, they just want to make a cheap buck.

Recently I noticed the top of the steering wheel splitting and i sent a pic and they came back and told me that it looks like something hit or fell on it. I could go on for an hour typing out all the crazy things they tell me so it can be my fault. The pleather on the door handle has wrinkled up and is splitting as well and they told me "you are wearing lotion on your hands" which I dont think ive ever done in my life. The materials they use are so cheap and paper thin its ridiculous. All they are doing is making sure I will never buy another one of their cars again and I will caution everyone i know not to, as well.

    I haven't bought a brand new truck since 2001. I paid 22k. And had it 15yrs with no major problems. In the beginning had a couple small things and Chevy treated me like a king. It's sad to see whats going on these days. And I hear it's with all of them. I refuse to get a new truck and pay the price they want for something that's made cheaper than the old ones and not as dependable. In the last 10yrs it has just got insane in my eyes. So what I did is got a 2004 pre emissions truck and fully restored it for 25k. I'm mean every down to every sensor and bearing and rubber boot. And one step up from factory engine and trans. Basically a brand new truck for 25k that they want 100k for a new one. And mine has was less Bs to go wrong.. as I don't take it to the shop anyways. Because they also are ridiculous. But your right, I don't know how the city folk do it. Must be why everyone is drowning in debt and we are about to see the biggest debt collapse in our lifetime. I'm pushing 50 and have learned from the past. I'm debt free and don't play their games anymore. If everyone would just do the same they wouldn't be able to play games. Just look at this year's Superbowl. The cheapest ticket is 8k. You tell me how a normal man is supposed to take his son to a game. It's insanity. If no one would buy a ticket then the price would come down. But it will probably be full. So they will keep on screwing normal man out of it. It's both the companies fault and the morons among us. Just like this country is. They will keep on pushing until it breaks because people don't stand up anymore and just allow things to go on. It really is a sad world we are in and getting worse by the week. And people just allowed it to get this way. If everyone would of stood up to years ago and just refused the prices and crap service then it would be different. But Chevy just like everything else will keep going until something breaks, until people have had enough. Until people demand to be treated like a king again. But if the look at the way society has completely lost their balls I would say its not going to happen soon.

      I’d have to disagree. There is a small GM dealership close to my house. Not the closest, but second closest. My last truck was a chevy, and any time I’d walk in…they’d greet me with a smile, handshake and a “hello Mr such and such”. Went in for warranty work, and they touched up the paint on my front bumper and antenna. That dealership is great, truly a 5 star dealership. The bigger dealerships don’t seem to care as much like I am just another guy walking through the door, although they seem to have more qualified technicians working for them as they can pay them the dollars. I’m not saying the techs at big dealerships are “better”, im saying that they took the class to be qualified. Try a small dealership in the future, seems to work out for myself.

    Its not just GM; its all of them now. Ford has known issues with the Raptors and they claim its nothing until the truck is out of warranty. Doing the service work is terrible. They sell it as an off road machine but god forbid it has dirt on it when it comes in. Toyota is the same way now. You spend a lot of money on a bumper to bumper warranty only to find out there is a laundry list that isn't covered. This vid helps others in pointing out failure points and asking, "is this covered?" and if they say yes, record it or have it written down. That is what I will be doing for the ZR2 Bison. I think its BS that you have a CEL under warranty and you have to pay to get it diagnosed - that is all dealers too.

They had all sorts of monitors and meters on it while I drove the vehicle for a few weeks, but it kept blowing fuses and codes and going into limp mode. The end result was me going to a Lemon Law Lawyer and GM buying the vehicle back/taking it off lease and then them giving me a check on top of that.
    I've had many GM/Chevy products before and since, so it didn't scare me off, it only left a bad taste in my mouth for a while and the next vehicle I bought after that was a Chrysler product, which was technically a Mercedes with a Chrysler body and suspension.

I want to off road but your history has me concerned. Just bought the ZR2 yesterday. I hate to buy warranties but did buy the additonal 3 year warranty, with one caveate. It was $3,400 and I told them point blank, with respect, that I'd buy it at 50% off. Finance guy said he'd "look at it" and I clarified that I'd absolutely buy it if he cut the price in half. I told him I would it haggle. Half off and I buy. He checked with his mgr and I got it at half off. After watching you vids I'm sooo glad I did. Shouldn't have to buy an additional warranty but all the OEMs are dirty. Next truck you buy, bargain I the warranty. I did the same on our Blazer. My Father had the engine burn up on 2 Chevy Monte Carlo cars back to back, around 120,000 miles on both of them, and they were different models, different engines, and 1 year apart.
    One was a 1998 Monte Carlo LS with the small v-8, engine burned up around 120,000 miles. So then he got a 1999 Monte Carlo SS with the big v-8 and the engine burned up on that one around 120,000 miles too. And when I say burned up, they just quit running and the engine was locked up, in both of them.
    So then he bought a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT with 78,000 miles on it in 2014, with the 4 cyl wand a 5 speed, and 10 years later it has 168.000 miles and it is still running good. I got it when he passed away in 2014, and I still drive it every day. I just drove it to Peoria and back today.

    This is why I don't pay for the extended warranty. They are worthless. You owe more than the truck is worth the lot first day off the lot and then you're paying additional upfront warranty costs that wont cover you anyway. I had a sales person tell me "you know this truck has problems from the factory so you should get the extended warranty to cover the repairs, it will save you money in the long run". So I didn't buy the truck. These companies need to be held accountable for substandard products. I had an 04 Chevy and loved it. Didn't cost me one cent in repairs. You're really better off just riding a bike at this point cause there are no good options. They probably have think tanks comparing their vehicles to the worst out there. "At least ours isn't as bad as theirs". Great business model.

    Im running into the same thing with Tesla. I have so many issues and they constantly tell me to get lost basically.

      I had it happen with my 2016 Tacoma. Just like this kid, I was wheeling offroad and something broke because my 4WD wasn't working right afterwards. Just like this kid found out, when you play offroad and break something, it's not covered by warranty.

    Often times the service dept will upsell the parts that they get from their own parts dept.
    If it’s a part like the one mentioned on your video, simply check their parts department for the price difference
    To be honest certain things are covered under the factory warranty and extended warranty
    The only item I had that wasn’t covered under any of those warranty’s was my battery which didn’t have a full 3 yrs of usage but I bought the battery myself from their parts department and save $100
    This issue if it doesn’t get fixed with resetting the computer by clearing the code try to buy the part and replace it yourself

I kept fighting with Chevy because they didn’t want to fix it. They ultimately agreed to buy it back but with huge penalty (lemon law sucks in CO). I ended up just trading it for a Jeep Gladiator. Not everyone’s choice but I love it. I’ve had a ton of different vehicles and never been happy with Chevy.

Returned the truck to the dealership and it has sat there eversince. Going on three weeks and they say that the rear main seal is gone and will need to be replaced (breand new truck picked up with 3 miles on it and returned to the dealer with 200 miles on it). Repairs have not started and it still sits in the dealers lot. BEWARE THis is not a good vehicle.

    Bobby you ain't complaining too much, we all need to vent, and I don't mind at all. I'm just glad that unlike Chevy, you're finally getting your head out of your ass and ditching the bowtie. Personally I'm a Ford guy but I've been having some issues with my 2018 F150, the 10 speed transmission had to get a rebuild at only 40k miles, at the literal end of my 5 year warranty, just barely made it, as well as bad bearings in my differential. New trucks are garbage in general, they don't make them like they used to. Personally, as much as I love to shit on imports, I would love to see you do a Taco build. Especially if you picked up an older one, but really any Toyota is known for being reliable and that's what you need for your lifestyle.
