Man. You’re taste in compressors is *chef’s kiss*. Ive been deep diving in Vari-mus and have been directed to your channel several times now. Im curious- with all these beautiful vari-mus you have had experience with, which do you reach for for vocal tracking specifically? Been looking at the retro 176, revolver, 124, 660 etc…. Getting abit lost with all these good options. Many thanks.
I wish my taste in compressors was a little more affordable 🤣. Seriously though, I'm so glad you've found some useful content here. For vocal tracking, I would either go with a Sta Level, 176 or Revolver. As much as I love the RS124 it's just not fast enough for some vocals(unless you follow it up with an 1176 which can be a killer combo!). The RS660 is cool but there were 2 or 3 vocals I tried it on that just didn't jive with its tone(it didn't like midrange heavy vocals) so I'd hesitate to have that one as my only comp. It's more of a specialty piece to me. I hope that helps!
This is an amazing demo for people really wanting to hear the gear. Compliments your other related video perfectly. Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos Chris! Thanks so much for checking them out and for taking the time to comment.
Cheers
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate the support.

Lovely demo. Have you ever used it on dialogues or anything spoken?
Thank you! I didn't use it for dialogue but I can imagine it would be great on that in similar way to how it excites a vocal.
I didn’t listen to this video on my studio monitors, but on my headphones it sounded very transparent in terms of compression.
It is quite transparent in compressor mode but can definitely get thick with character in limiter mode when needed.
@@SeawellStudios Thank you very much for your responses!
Do you think this catch peaks fast enough for rap vocals?
In limiter mode I think it would be.
