- Somalis in #Minnesota are experiencing high rates of Autism. While the culture has no word for Autism, one mother shares her pain of the having to raising two sons who are born with this complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviours. Marian Ahmed, started the Somali Parents Autism Network to help others end the shame and stigma. #SomalisWithAutism #EndTheShame #AutismAwareness
very touching story. i have a little gorgeous boy who also has autism and let me tell you this it's the hardest disability I've ever came across walahay. the cure of autism is first accept it. secondly don't be ashamed of your child . educate yourself and and give that child as much love as you can. there is a reason allah gave you this special precious child. GIVE THEM UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND BE PROUD OF THEM❤
+Zam 3 Love heals all things! Thank you for sharing!
may Allah give them they're healthy back insheAllah sis

Zam 3 Masha Allah, acceptance is the cure
How’s your son? Hope him and you are doing well
I am from Ethiopia and agree with everything you said, especially the fact that us Africans are unaware of autism and the classification of normal and crazy people. Even tho I am only 17, I try my best to break the mentality Ethiopian parents have on classifying people. I am proud of what you guys are doing.. Keep up your videos.
Queen Sara I actually live in dubai and am a Somali from the Ethiopian region I do speak 4 languages. all fluent Somalia Oromo ahmaric and English I meant a Ethiopian kid who's brother had autism My younger brother also had autism. so my mother and my friends mother would meet and talk. eventually I was put room Quran classes with this kid it was hard to communicate with him since he only knew Arabic and his English was a little off so I was sitting memorizing the Quran and his older brother the one with autism read with the most beautiful voice ever
and I started to realized that Allah truly has given everyone a chance and for it to be denied in Ethiopia and somalia makes me Mad not only because it's ignorant but it dehumanize's people .
non verbal autism is popular in ethiopia?somalian and ethiopian is caucasoid.severe autism is popular in asia too. but i never seen the subsaharan non verbal autistic kid.true autistics
My 10 year son has autism.my son used to wander a lot when he was 3-7 year old but alhamduliah he is a different person today he outgrown a lot of the autism symptoms. For example he speaks well, he reads he writes, and doesn't wander any longer masha alaah. Also he goes to dugsi , has good eye contact, and good attention. I just want to share my story so the other mothers who have young children with autism can have hope. Thank you sister hodan and marium for sharing with us this great story.
Abdigani Ali Masha Allah.Did you enroll him in a special school or ABA therapy?I have a daughter who is non verbal and am scared for her future!
@@farhiyai1381 same. Does your daughter get aba?
Thanks for this integration tv, a really good video.
my 5 yrs old son has recently diagnosed with autism and it is really hard for us as a family he is the most kind child and love him unconditional and i gave him more time than others (i have a daughter and another son) my older son asks me why i spend more time with his brother and i explained to him it is really hard my Alhamdullilah may Allah make it easier for us Insha Allah.
Insha Allah things get easier for you and your family, brother. You are not alone, God is with you supporting you every step of the way through the ups and downs.
And, by the way, you sound like a very loving, caring father who is attentive to his children's feelings, Masha Allah. Your older son may still be too young to understand now, but Insha Allah, as he gets older he will see and appreciate the effort you are putting in with his younger brother and the sacrifices you are making for the whole family. He'll see that you are a great role model for him and his brother, Insha Allah. Take care.

+iheartSomaliland ! Thank you for always sharing positive words! I really love to see us encourage others to share and end the shame on many topics in our communities. Sharing is caring!
+Hodan Nalayeh Thanks Hodan, keep up the great work, Insha Allah! You are giving a voice to people who really need it. Take care!
Illahay ha idin caafiyo curuurta Somalia I love you our children
Mashallah what a strong hooyo. More Somali mothers need to seek help and get diagnosis for their children rather than treat them like they are not normal.
Youi are my hero masha,allah
God bless you sister.
I don't understand why someone disliked🤔. Great video, very informative! Keep these documentaries coming.
This is a real problem and many Somali People are recently diagnosed .
I don't know if it is a new thing or previously there was a under diagnosed cases , but surely there is a one thing and that is it is a common problem, we have to investigate and search exactly what make this a Somali predilection disease ? meaning common in Somali .
Is it the Qat or some thing else ? this is the question, and we as a Physicians we need to find a solution . Thanks Hodan Naleye for the presentation and the Beautiful program.
+yahye hassan abdi Thank you for your feedback. Our medical community needs to look into this and other health issues that affect the community in high numbers.
I totally agree.I actually think I know the cause
Maanta Hodan waa inaga hoosaysaa, ha loo duceeyo.

I can hear it okay Listening on a Mac OS 10.11.4 using Safari 9.1 Hmmm
i can't hear her voice during the interview either. can you please fixed?
Remove your headphones .i was having the same issue.
Greate program that benefits the community. Thank for your noble work. TSG: I think it's about time that you pronounce you name in Somali rather in American English. Never will you see a Mexican Journalist pronouncing his name in English. They always say their names in their Mexican dialect. Just a though!
Autism diagnosis in 1 in 32 specifically in the Somali community is pretty high. More needs to be done to find out what's behind it.
speaking as a psychology major, we're trying. To find a "cause" for autism generally is very hard.
I can't hear Marian's voice during the interview. Is it only me experiencing this problem?
+Ridwaan ali Are you using headphones?
+INTEGRATIONTV I tried watching it again without it and I can hear Marian's voice now. Thanks for replying :)
I have a child with autism and it is really hard some times but I love my child very much i have heard that homeopathy treatment helps has anyone here tried ?
Insightful program. Well done.
There wasn't, until recently, a word in my language (NC dialect Cherokee) either. It's associated with settlers, and still rare amongst us. Even now we say it's a disease of the yonega, the Euro-Americans. This video may require a change of terminology. I'm a native speaker and even I don't know the new word for it, having moved from my community nearly 20 years ago.
i can't hear what she said
waaawww soodhawawda wallahayay qaali maaac dhamaantiin
But what caused? I saw boy like that before.
I can hear
Back then when i used live in Somalia, i remember our neighbour who have girl well she wasn't Autistic, but she psychological ill they use to hide her from da other pple just bcz its shame or curse to talk ab these kinda problems . Its sad dat our somali pple will never come forward n open up ab their struggle to get help n educate others. Its kinda taboo to talk ab mental problems in our community as well as sexual transmitted diseases. As health worker by myself it hard to convince our ummah its okay to hard sick child or it okey to have some sort of health issues. Da results is always da same bcz of their ignorance they won't get a proper health care bcz of da stigma n what other pple will think ab them😢
Why is there no sound. In the tslks...
the is no sound
Autism spectrum disorder is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. The disorder also includes limited and repetitive patterns of behavior. The term "spectrum" in autism spectrum disorder refers to the wide range
well done
I'm not Somali but I'm Muslim and I have a new vlog about our life living with autism our son has 3 years old has autism. At this moment he is totally non verbal .. Our vlog is called Yahya's Dunya
Maryam Ahmed. I can sense asthma or respiratory symptoms from the persons speech. Please take care of yourself as you take care of those beautiful kids. May Allah make it easy for you.
I agree with this, Am living in Nairobi and our whole neighborhood there is not 1 autism or even crazy all young somali kids are very healthy, Hamdulilah.
There must be something wrong happen when somalis went to west and all of sudden their hight rate of autims

My little sister has severe Autism and people just don’t understand that
masha Allah, look good in hijab sister
oh by the way both familys are somalians too
Bismillah. I hope that someone benefits from what I'm about to say because this problem that Somalis are facing is no coincidence. Having done so much research on this topic I have come to a very well informed decision that its mainly the vaccines. Please my Somali people stop vaccinating your children. There's a study done by the CDC which was ultimately covered up that shows black boys being more like to develop autism after being given MMR vaccine. Please do your own research and those moms who don't speak the language, I hope someone informs you Insha Allah. May Allah protect all our children and every child.
Being more likely***
I agree with this statement.
Thank u 😘😘😘

that vaccines scares me the most I have 3kids 5, 2, and 8 months I didn't vaccinate them but my older son was born in Somalia and he got some shots which is probably water like coz he got measles shot and still he had the measles when he was 9 months
"There is no word for Autism in Somali".
Actually there is a word for Autism in Somali but it is 'superstitious belief word.' Autism is called in Somali (Daabeel, translates to wind in English). back in Somalia when a kid has a "autism" you'll hear people saying
~ waar cunugan Daabeel baa hayso, in other words the kid is suffering autism. Somalis believe when specific particular superstitious wind hits someone they get autism.
Not True
Diva Chevy It is true-Somali are superstitious people, they call autism "Daabeel" -wind. You might not know or heard about it just like the lady on the video but Daabeel, " means autism in Somali and a wind it has two different meaning.
+Somali pirate Daabeel if it already means wind how can it mean autism also?
Diva Chevy Somali believe superstitious wind causes a person to function less in other words become "autistic". So they call it Daabeel just like they call malaria "mosquito" kanaco, means mosquito. Somali people call the disease what they think "causes" in this case they think a particular wind causes autism so they call it Daabeel, wind. Also the word Daabeel has two different meaning in Somali.
+Somali pirate OK
ska jir tallaalka "mmr" vaccine waxaa la siiyaa markii carruurtaadu ay 15 bilood jiraan oo siriinjadu si gooni ah ayaa loo daaweeyaa
yeeees yeees
I know those kids they go to my dugsi
I heard that kids with that are smart
Not all
It's called Insect
To overcome this emotional harm come back to somalia your origin of culture 😭😭😭
SHUT UP
So let's name autism as qabole 😅😅
Good word right
autism is somalia is baac baac or maqane joogi , or hawada ufuranyhy , thier is no name for it and if you tell somali to describe that he would end up insulting the victim .
bax hoyada wasee
Yes there is a word for it, my somalis friends say it in english, " worthless crazy". Sorry but its true
Many somalis received multiple vaccinations before coming to the states in refugee campsand after their arrival. This is a direct result.
D M Al Yousef stop spreading misinformation.Vaccination don't cause autism .
Chelsea Jane Why does it only affect those who migrate to America and not those who live in Somalia. It has to be something external. It can't be genetics because we would be seeing the same rates in Somalia.
No vaccines guys
Somali are pure blood
