I use weekly mileage for the 80-20 rule. So If do 30 miles per week, 6 are at high intensity, 24 are at an easier pace. If I'm marathon training and run 50 miles, it's more like 10 miles high intensity.
Smart move.
60-70% of max hr will require me to walk or jog a little, bring hr down and resume running. Repeat. Is that ok?
I do it when I have a scheduled easy run but I’m more dead from the previous week more than usual on the treadmill.
Due to fatigue it’s hard to get out of zone 2 anyways.
Smart strategy. This is when HR can be very useful. That and staying within, say, threshold range when you aren't feeling super sharp, or finding a range to run "marathon pace" early in the season when you're not yet in great shape.
if I ran at 60 percent of heart rate instead of perceived effort I'd probably be walking.
Yeah, it feels like HR zones can be a on sliding scale, with so many factors confusing how you should approach it. RPE for the win!
The only zone I run in is the Twilight Zone".
