We had the vinyl at home in the 80's and I remember singing African Queen as a toddler. Nostalgia had me googling and I bumped into Caribbean Queen and I thought all my childhood was a dream. Also a European Queen. Probably undercover activism, but Billy Ocean's brand was clean and he tried to cater for all. I'm from South Africa and a British singing this meant a lot. I grew up humming these lyrics in my head..
Same here, only I recalled all of the versions and wasn't sure which was the real one and which were just confused memories. Turns out they were all real and I'm not losing it as much as I thought... 😅

It was basically the same song just depends on where one lived. Caribbean Queen was the version released in the America’s, European Queen in Europe and African Queen for Africa. Even in the music video at about 1 min a poster on the wall clearly shows European Queen before changing to Caribbean Queen at 1:03 min mark.

I still have the original 12" single within my vinyl collection to this day because I love the song. However, on n the B-side of the 12" edition of the single there are TWO songs, the first is 'AFRICAN QUEEN ( No more love on the run - new extended mix)' as heard here...and the second is 'Dancefloor (extended mix)'. You're welcome by the way... EDIT: The version of Caribbean Queen on the 12" single edition, is also an 'extended mix', and that's why I bought it in the first place.
