If you notice when the lights come up you can see them pushing the piano off stage after Pau singing Breathe. How that remarkable young woman could go from her performance of Breathe to killing it on the drums on Enter Sandman is beyond me.
I feel very fortunate to have been one of the 8000 folks in the room to see this performance live. Wow! I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany and the strings very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a dark lullaby. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. The strings add such a mood to this.
You were very lucky indeed to be that concert! These ladies sure do know how to put on a show! I'm also not much of a Metallica fan and feel the same way you did about this song.(Metallica even came to SA and I went to the concert but was more interested in the other bands that played that day) I heard this song so much growing up & felt like it was over played but just the way The Warning does it breathes a whole new life into the song! Really loved the addition of the strings. 🔥🔥

I like this version better for sure. It isn't that I don't like the original, I just think it got over played & people got sick of it. The running joke is that it was nice of Metallica to write "Enter Sandman" for TW before they were even born. 😁⚡🤘
WAY better than the original. They totally rearranged it in 2021 for Metallica's *The Black List* album. Now it has depth and meaning and movement lacking from the original. The string section is a wad of whipping cream and a trio of cherries on top of the dessert.
For me it's like a great family version of the song, different from the original which is metal, I think trash, or one of the n+1000 subgenres that metal has.
I thought their performance of this song was better in their Theatro Metropolitan video. The orchestration is ok. But it took a lot of the spontaneity, rawness, and metal vibe out of their version like most unnecessary record producer style “sweetening” usually does to any good rock song.
Better than the original? that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in my life. You are banned from listening to Metallica ever again at least for a year. Ridiculous
