At this point, Metallica should just sign over the rights for Enter Sandman to The Warning. The Villarreal sisters now own this song, and this performance is my go-to version for Enter Sandman.
As the saying goes, it was awful nice for Metallica to write Enter Sandman for The Warning before they were even born! ⚡️🤘
That is the joke i never cease to crack at this reaction videos. It is the law that at least one member of The Warming Army has to post it.
*Backstory of strings:*
The Warning's manager, Rudy Joffery, thought it would be nice to put a string assemble for two special *"X Anniversary Shows"* the band would perform. Shows were in Monterrey (Warning's hometown) & Mexico City (Pepsi Center). The string assemble were all women string musicians from Monterrey. The string assemble was hired to perform *"Black Holes"* with drummer Paulina doing a solo version on a piano. Then do a *"Enter Sandman"* version with the band. But Pau decided before showtime that she will also perform the song *"Breathe"* at the Pepsi Center in between *"Black Holes"* & *"Enter Sandman".* Backstory about *"Breathe"* can wait for another day. But the string assemble didn't had or was required to back Pau on *"Breathe".*

This song may have been covered a zillion times but never like this!!! The Ladies now own this song! Nice reaction.
This reimagination provides a glimpse of their virtuosity as musicians. Numerous bands, including famous ones like Motorhead, had covered Enter Sandman across decades. Out of the 50 odd groups invited by Metallica for Black List album, about 20 (including Tool) revisited this legendary song. None of them had the creativity to think outside the box & the conviction go beyond the iconic structure of Enter Sandman. By slowing down to halftime, by inverting its structure & by introducing the 3 part refrain in middle with "Hush now baby" The Warning finally completed what James Hetfield set out to compose decades ago - an eerie lullaby for his son.
Here Pau showcased her phenomenal talent as a background vocalist. Sometimes staying lower than Dany's vocals, sometimes ramping up power with higher range Pau almost sang the whole song. Ale stayed in the lower frequencies.
BTW my favourite reimagination used to be Clapton paying homage to Dylan with a touch of reggae in Knocking on Heaven's Door till I came across The Warning with Enter Sandman.
A lot of metal riffs can be found in classical music. The combo just works so well. I agree with everything you said!

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a dark lullaby. The strings only add to the spookiness. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

They killed with this version! Took it to a whole other level. I love The Warning’s version when it’s just them a lot more than with Alissa Cara!! I have to say I was a little disappointed when I found out that Metallica reached out to Alissa instead of The Warning to do a cover for the Blacklist album… But then again not surprised, I haven’t been a fan of Metallica’s stuff from at least the last two decades. I love early Metallica, Black Album and earlier, after that they started going downhill for me. Especially after the 2000s. I do love The Warning though ❤⚡️🤘🤘
The sisters have said that Metallica did reach out to them directly. The label put the two together.

@@guillermoochoa7345, that's exactly how it went down. The idea came from Alessia and their joint management, and was run by Metallica ('s management). Then, and only then, an official invitation was extended to The Warning.
Metallica inviting The Warning directly is one of those embellishments of an already plenty impressive story, by enthousiastic fans, that just won't die, just like the myth that The Warning being the first song on the Blacklist album was a deliberate choice by Metallica.
@@Hans_Reese thank you for confirming what I new was true. I was 99.9% that’s how it all went down, I’ve heard it from Rudy and several others from the team and record label. Yeah I agree with you there’s a lot of myths regarding this topic by ill informed enthusiastic fan. I guess I misspelled Alessia’s name, not a fan of her music and honestly never even heard of her until this song with The Warning. Not saying her music is bad, just not my cup of tea. The strings placement on the stage was very appropriate. They weren't an after thought on the side - they were center stage and wrapped The Warning ladies in their sound. Easily my favorite performance of this song ever.

Love it with the string section, ever since discovering symphonic metal in the late 90s/early 2000s I knew this was a combination that often works! As for concert videos, they have evolved immensely. Look at a concert video from the 70s, 80s, and 90s they are very stark. They are still good, but just look a little bare. And I don't mean they need to have gimmicks or explosions, lasers, etc. Just the general design and lighting is a whole new level these days. Thanks for the thoughtful reaction. These sisters will never disappoint.

Theres no questions this is their song now lmao its so damn good. Juanes who is huge in latin america featured in the album as well did a good job, but it was the same as the original. The Warning owns this song.

As a Mexican band they can easily cover or do their own reversions of some of the greatest bands from mexico and "latinamerica" and introduce them to the world, but instead they choose to cover songs the whole world already knows.
They are certainly talented but one of their big flaws is that they are too whitewashed and offer nothing new
