- Taken from the new retrospective collection The Best of LEMON (Greatest Hits) (2018) - LEMON's first few releases (the debut Fresh! EP (1999) and the albums Lemon Up! (2001) and With a Twist (2005) - (incidentally the album that launched Freshly Squeezed as a label) - are the bridge between the kitsch Lounge/Easy Listening scene of the late 90's/early naughties and the Vintage Remix/Electro Swing movements of today.

@@FreshlySqueezed I first heard Mr Bongo on the Ursula1000 mixtape All Systems Are Go Go, early 2000's was a perfect era of big beat, UK breaks and labels like Skint, MoWax and Ninja Tune were making big choons.
@@weaponsgrayedd So this is the origin of the whole Freshly Squeezed label and ethos. Lemon's second album With A Twist was our first release (ZESTCD001) back in 2005 and Nick Hollywood (Lemon) runs the label. Those amazing references were all part of why we started this... great that the history is getting acknowledged!
@@FreshlySqueezed I keep forgetting Nick is JFB, check his Shambhala video scratch track on RUclips that's where I met him but back then completely forgot he did an album with Skeewiff and is easily one of my fave scratch DJs of all time, keeping the Brit funk alive n well. Biggups Freshly Squeezed, safe as fuck choons!
Soundtrack-y. Doesn't really progress, just sticks in the groove. Music to stream in the background, basically. For free. Maybe the whole genre is like this, who knows.
