- Attaching the hose to the back of a vented tumble dryer can be a bit fiddly. In this quick tip video I highlight the biggest stumbling block.

Thanks always thought you had to glue it in. This is the only video that shows how it's done,
I have had dryers that needed something like a cable-tie or jubilee clip to hold the hose in place, and I also had one that had a screw-in feature like this that then clipped onto the machine but I haven't seen any that needed glue. I'm glad this was of help to you.
Yer thanks for replying,Although I screw the pipe in the connector it always seemed to come out , that's why I have to glue it, Thanks anyway,I'm glad you took the trouble to reply, A lot of you tubers don't bother.Keep the videos coming.

I've had tubes that kept falling out in the past. One solutions that worked for me was to keep screwing it in until the "thread" got wedged in. But I've also had a dryer where there was no stop so glue would have been in order if it hadn't fitted. I've also had one that the tube screwed in ok but the receiver kept falling out of the machine but I fixed that with a couple of self-tapping screws.
Hi, you are my saviour ☺️🆘☺️, thanks, just setting up my brand new drier from HOTPOINT, and instructions gave no idea as to connect vent 🤔😞😢 and after hours of you tube searches eventually found you, ( they always say things come good to those who wait) and boy were they right, why can't HOTPOINT deliver this info? 🤐 I have yet to use the dryer, but hey, I'm just happy the vents connected, might not even use the dryer, l think l will just sit back and admire the vent, courtesy of YOU 😘😘😘😘😘😘

I bought a length of plastic pipe and cut it into bits to form a Zed Z shape, then used that to vent it outside through the hole in the wall. It's the same diameter as the machine hole, so pushed straight in. No more plastic corrugated dust collecting flexible pipe!

I have been researching about these vents a bit. Apparently it's best to use metal for longevity and safety against fire
I agree that metal would be better on both counts. And in some settings it is a requirement. The PVC hoses are very common in UK households. They are cheap to replace and shouldn't be at risk of fire.
I've had a plastic one for over 25 years and never had any issues.
They're not as flexible... My hotpoint machine doesn't have threads to turn pipe securely into machine but a metal connector and then have to use cable tie.
hmm, my dryer doesn't have that fancy bit to screw it on. I have to use tape! Must be a UK thing. Thanks for sharing

From personal experience I've found the attachment mechanism to be sh*t. It can come off and you get damp air being pumped inside the house instead of being expelled outside.
I've have found that in the past. Some dryers are better than others. I like to make sure that i've "screwed" in as much "thread" of the hose as possible. Sometimes giving the metal of the back of the dryer a slight kink with some pliers can help to lock the attachment in place. I had one dryer many years ago that had a self-tapping screw to hold the connector onto the dryer.
My hose does not go in that way as the wire is the other way round?
That's odd. All the ones I've seen are the same as the one in the video. Are you in the UK?
@@TalesFromTheTinkerage Yeah Aberdeen, it just won’t screw in the way you do it, the metal of the vent goes the other way 🤷🏽♂️ I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong but I’ve tried countless times and different ways but still nothing, I thought the hose was the wrong one but apparently there all universal, my brain is burst 😂🤦🏻♂️
@@neilbuchan1489 That's really odd. All the ones I've seen have the wire in the same arrangement as the threads on a screw. I'm all short of suggestions I'm afraid. Other than maybe picking up one from Toolstation/Screwfix to compare, knowing that you can take it back if it doesn't solve things.
