I am a Township Clerk and if this is The Annual Town Meeting which was Tuesday for all Townships in IL. The Clerk is the only Official at the meeting. The voting body elects a Moderator. Supervisor is No Body at the Annual Town Meeting. And the Budget is on Display for the Public body to view..
She was taught to govern by her single mom who was taught to govern by her single mom. And so on and so on! She is grossly under qualified for the job she holds! She probably doesn’t know how to handle her own money and yet she is in charge of A WHOLE TOWN!

I live in the Thornton Township and this woman plasters her face on everything. Frank Zuccarelli wasn’t perfect but he was a public servant and did a lot for our communities.

@@chrismachabee3128 I’m referencing when she said she was speaking to all the black people in the meeting, there were several white residents there, but she decided to exclude them and address the black residents only, and then she went on to try and use some kind of “we stick together” appeal and approach to get them to hear her out and give her a break. It didn’t work. It was a gross and pathetic attempt on her part, and it was immensely disrespectful to her non black community members, as well as disrespectful to her black community members who deserve to be treated as residents who are seen for what they’ve contributed to the town and for what they are experiencing in the town, verses being seen as an automatic pawn in her game because they have matching skin tones.
Even the person filming the meeting said out loud “she just dissed all the white people” when she grossly excluded them from her addressing the room.

I grew up in those red bricks, what we call the projects where I’m from because they’re all red brick buildings, I grew up seeing people climb their way to the top using their community as their team and base, but as soon as they get somewhere they start with the funds tampering, the grifting seen so often in local politicians and seats, and the classic bad politics act that so many of us have grown to despise.
And it infuriates me to no end. As it should everyone.
Imagine for a second what you would do for your community if you could wave a magic wand and have the title of mayor, seriously, imagine what you’d do. Would you be spending tax funds on luxury living, creating record breaking debt, and putting your community on the map in the worst way, or would you be out there reaching out to the community, meeting with the schools and teachers, finding out where help and funds are most needed, building community centers with the best resources for the kids in the community, giving them a safe and fun environment to go to after school and during summer breaks, a place where they can experience the kind of things that under privileged kids don’t usually get to experience, a place where their thirst for learning and education can be nurtured continuously, beyond school, I know I day dream about that kind of stuff all the time. About the things I would love to see my community build for these kids, for us, for our future, I know I’m so sick and tired of the snakes.
And I see her. She’s a snake.
Your heart sounds good. And I respect that.
But she’s not deserving of any slack, not now. With God’s grace, she’ll find herself and redeem herself, for her community and for herself, and she’ll learn to be humble and learn how to actually be a shining light in the world around her. But right now, she’s treating an entire community of people like a joke, and she’s set them up for the kind of problems that will take years to recover from. All for her ego.

It signifies that you think you are better than your constituents and the peasants in the crowd. A mayor isn’t supposed to be put on a pedestal like that. They are there to SERVE the people. It’s similar to a king wearing a crown. Kings have been known to have a superiority complex and have the peasants serve them. Which is why the president doesn’t wear anything like this. It would signify that he is to be served instead of the other way around. Symbols play a key role in society and human behavior.

would disagree with your framing of the argument. As the mayor, she is the leader, like it or not, therefore she is above them. Not better, but she is the power, where not one person has power like she has to doo things, understand. And maybe the golden Mic reflects her having that power, she has it and they don't.
Mayor are suppose to serve the people, but they are not servants of the people.
She is the leader where no one else is. And if you must use royal anologies then she is the queen, and her people serve her, to do the jobs that need to be done.

Kings usually run tyrannical empires. Where they are in charge until they die and the peasants serve them. That’s not a good thing. So her golden mic can be compared to a kings crown or like you said “A queens crown”. That’s not good!!!! There’s a reason why we don’t allow Kings to run the government anymore. She doesn't have the police power in South Holland where the Township building is located. The Township consists of 17 towns. She knows she can't bully all of us.
Dolton's a lot more disrespectful, plus she grew up in Dolton and has been in governement quite a while and she knows the Doltoion people, who I think are jealous of her political success.
Dolton is her little job and Thornton is her big salary job. Thornton Township oversees 17 different towns. She behaves much better there.
