From what I've gleaned, the law firm submitted a $950k bill to the town and it went unpaid. That's where the "financial burden" comes from.
That's just a small piece of it,they are in the hole for way more that 900 thousand and change.
Delgado was not representing the village(trustees/residents) but Tiffany Henyard. That's why he was never at the "secret squirrel meetings," or speaking up for the trustees at the village meetings. This is why they're reporting him to the bar on ethics violations
I’m trying to figure out how they thought it was legal or ethical to pay him all if these tax dollars and have him only represent Tiffany? Isn’t she required to pay for her own lawyer if it’s for her personal benefit? He defends the village on cases as long as it’s Tiffany’s side he’s defending but will go against the village if they are against Tiffany. And then in board meetings he flat out refused to give any legal advice to trustees BecUse he’s “Tiffany’s lawyer” not the villages lawyer.
I hope attorney's have some level of accountability and if there are ethics violations that they will be properly investigated. It does appear that he pledged allegiance to the mayor, and sadly abandoned his ethical duties to the village board. I can't see an attorney not supporting the release of financial information/records for a public body. If there's nothing to hide, I would be giving them everything except the checking account no, the Who/What/When and How much? And let's be clear, there shouldn't be anything to hide!

I would think the financial burden is two-fold: (1) they aren’t getting paid for work done, (2) Tiffany doesn’t listen and will expose the lawyer/law firm to litigation.
