This was by far the funniest reaction yet! It felt like the boys were gonna dip at any moment in pure disgust lololol
He mentioned he hopes they didn't kill the dog in real life. Always good to remind them that as real as they make things look they don't actually harm animals.
Yoooo.
These two men are far too wholesome for this film.
That’s what makes this and their individual reactions, commentary and opinions/review at the end even MORE interesting 😊
@@BrokenInBeauty ya completely agree 💯💪🏻😊
On the animals, the main dog in this is Jed, a wolf dog. Just to assure them that in real life, Jed goes on to star in several other films, including the 1991 White Fang and its sequel. The animals aren’t hurt in real life.
"Fear is NOT allowed"... love it!
Rob Bottin is the Special Effects master of this film.
He attended my high school, a few years ahead of me.
While still in school, he did an internship working on the original Star Wars movie.
In 198O, I walked by his house, and he was making life-sized werewolves in his garage!
He later designed and created the original Robo Cop. 🤙😎
The special effects in this movie still blow me away! Bottin's amazing.
"He should not disrespect the dog."
Damn right!
Yeah, The Thing is still one of the most terrifying movies of all time. The existential dread of a creature that can be anyone you know, could even be everyone you know, turning you into merely a part of it. It has all the knowledge and memories of its hosts, and every single piece of it is a whole. A shapeshifter that becomes what it eats.
I can think of very few horror movies that scare me like this one did back in the day.
Here i am, rubbing my hands together in glee for their reaction. Thanks for introducing them to this horror classic!
Proud of you kids for making it through The Thing. This movie is the reason I hate cgi. If half of the things modern creators did had this much passion and effort we’d still be in a golden age of film. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
OMG I can't believe you showed them this, I hope they will be OK. ☹ (me worrying before even watching this video)
I was exactly the same, luv, don't worry! These two lovely gents have such an adorable innocence about them that I almost feel quite protective and maternal over them! Lol! I did get a "bit" genuinely concerned when I got this notification just a minute ago. Sincerely hope they're not completely traumatised, or they watch a less "horror" version of it or something 😬
I was laughing the whole time it was amazing and funny lol 😂😂😂
I think also this was a bit shocking for these guys. Maybe next time something like Spirited Away by studio Ghibli might be a good idea.
@@Temeraire101spirited away would be a great choice!
Some movies aren't suited for some people, The Thing it's also almost unwatchable by many Americans. I don't think we should decay all of their innocence😂
So sad people didn't like this masterpiece back then!
Their reactions to the alien body horror effects were very visceral. That's the power of practical, in-camera effects. No CGI. It was all hand crafted by talented special effects artists and animatronic engineers like Rob Bottin and Stan Winston.
Totally agree, practicle effects win hands down.
Never clicked so fast. I first watched when I was 12. 40 years later, it's still one of my favorite films.
I'm gonna check out the 1951 original, I haven't seen that in literally ages
I wonder how they're going to explain this film to the other villagers.
“Exhausted and slowly freezing to death, they acknowledge the futility of their distrust and share a bottle of whiskey.”
"I'm very scared, man"
- "FEAR IS NOT ALLOWED"
😂
Alien is my favorite sci fi horror movie. But I have to admire the craftsmanship of The Thing. Saw it when it came out and all these years later I still won't watch it alone.
I saw this movie when I was 18 yrs old in the theater when it came out. It’s still one of the best sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen. No CGI but man made special effects.
Gosh, I still feel squirmy from watching such a grotesque horror movie. Great reaction though. I'd like to see them react to Halloween which is not disgusting and super gory at least.
Thanks for your suggestions
@@Cinephilesreact786 Another classic John Carpenter horror film is "The Fog." It too is not very gross, but it is creepy and unsettling. I like the slow build up of suspense in Carpenter's best films.
Regarding these old sci-fi horrors, The Thing is probably the most horrifying, even more than Alien, while The Fly is probably the most disturbing and disgusting. To this day these old movies look great, computer age still has to kneel to the classic practical effects. I personally saw Thing at about age of 10 years and I wasn't quite ready for that.
Oh this should be a good one... I got my food ready and my evil smirk before I started watching 😂
Best reaction to the Thing ever!!!! Love you guys thank you!!!! Bless you.
My dad let me watch this when I was 8 years old. Good job dad! Still have nightmares from this film.
It's always funny that everyone reacts to the thumb cut more than anything. I gues it's relatable and personal enough to trigger a response. (they held hands)
Guys it's me once again!
Here's my personal recommended movies list:
1. Both Firestarter versions: 1984 and 2022
2. I, Robot
3. Death Race 2008
4. All the three Chronicles of Narnia movies
5. The Final Destination franchise
6. Under Siege 1 and 2 by Steven Seagal
7. All the five Die Hard movies
Wow, you threw them into the deep end with this classic! I thought their stomachs were going to explode Lol!! 😆
Although frustrating, the ambiguous ending is perfect for this suspenseful movie. The real dilemma and enigma is whether or not McCready and Childs are both human at the end, or whether one or both of them have become Things, which keeps you wondering and wanting more.
Wanted to say I really enjoy the little editing quirks you've developed over the reactions. Keep the quality coming, you guys are all great
When I saw the one guy wretching and looking away during the dog transformation scene at the start, I knew these men were in trouble 😂
a masterpiece of practical effects
Sleeping was a bit of a issue for me for a while at age 9 after watching this best movie ever.
I remember convincing my dad to watch it instead of MOTD when I was 9 worst decision ever
🤣@@MogMonster87
If they're interested in more horror movies maybe they'd like *Silence of the Lambs* or *Stir of Echoes*, *The Shining*, *The Mist*, *Get Out*, *Misery*, *Frailty*...wow, there are lots of good ones.
This is the reaction I was looking for. They might need some therapy afterwards. Can't wait for the petri dish scene😂😂 they are gunna jump so bad.
One of my all time favorite movies, glad it can be shared and experienced by others
*Naveed and Mansoor, it's so funny watching you both squirm and hide your eyes but peek, too. I know that feeling! The actor you said you liked his beard and eyes....that is Kurt Russell and he does have beautiful eyes.*
I love watching all of them reacting to all these movies
These reactions are amazing! This is one of the best yet!
Another classic film. One of the best sci-fi horror movies ever!!! I hope you enjoyed this!
Interesting Facts: Norris (the guy who’s chest bursts open, chopping off the doctor’s hands with its bear-trap teeth) had a bad heart, and when the Thing took him over and perfectly imitated him, it also faithfully recreated his heart defect, which eventually caused Norris to suffer a heart attack for real during a high-stress moment. The Thing would have been happy to hide itself in a presumably “dead” body, but it couldn’t tolerate the electro-shocks from the defibrillator and was thus forced to reveal itself. (Incidentally, at the beginning of the movie, the spaceship was flying erratically because the crew was desperately trying to fight off the Things that were aboard their vessel and causing havoc. That’s why the spaceship attempted to make an emergency landing on the nearest planet and ended up crash landing in the Antarctic. Only one of the Things as survived the crash and made it out of the ship alive, only to freeze in the ice.)
I'm so glad you chose this movie. A classic that was underappreciated in it's day.
Their reactions are priceless!
As for the allocations of stars, I would give it a star because it is a slow starter, because that's how you build suspense. Modern films that go in guns ablazing have much less emotional impact. A slow starter tricks you to fill in the blanks with your own imagination, so you write the story that is perfect for you.
Much more genuine reactions than from "RUclips influencers". I love it!
Thanks 😊
Damn this is hands down of the best movies ever made- enjoy! I hope they'll be as invested into finding out who the thing is as the community that has kept this movie alive for decades now.
I tried to watch this movie when I was about 13 and couldn't get past the dog turning inside out. I didn't watch it again until a few years ago when I was 50. It's a rough one at times. I've found that when it gets to be too much for me that concentrating on and appreciating the artistry of the special effects let me get through it. Also, any plans to show Interstallar and Inception for reactions? I would *love* to see what they think of those movies. Actually, add Arrival to that list, too. 😀✌🏽💗
Thank you so much for adding this! If you want another horror classic, may I suggest The Exorcist?
they saw it already i believe
I'm still waiting on them to do "The Exorcist"! 😂
My new favorite movie critics! Love you guys and the honest detailed reactions. “Cujo” is a classic Stephen King horror, suspense movie, well worth watching.
The theory is that Mac was not carrying a bottle of booze at the end but a bottle of kerosene. When he saw Childs drink it without any reaction, he knew he was the Thing, which is why he chuckled. I’m entirely positive someone else has already made this comment here but I’m lazy and have no reason to look
I use to do something similar in the 1980's with folks from the Middle East, but I'd begin with "This is a documentary..."
"The Mummy" would be a fun horror adventure movie to watch
which one? there are several
@@toomanyaccounts The first one first, ofc.
@@rickymartin4457 which first one? the 1911, the 1932, the 1959?
@@toomanyaccounts the 1999 one
The Reactions of my two Moviebrother are priceless ❤🎉😂😂
when its just childs and macready in the final scene, you can see macreadys breath in the cold air, but you don't see the same thing from childs, hinting that he is the thing
The last 2 were essentially expecting to die.
My dad actually helped do the advertising for this film when he used to work in Los Angeles.
The BEST John Carpenter film is Big Trouble In Little China!
But I bet these guts would love Highlander.
So many scary movies back in the 70s and 80s it was fun to to go to a theater to watch em. Specially since you could smoke cigarettes.
While this is properly labeled a horror film, it's as much about paranoia as it is about alien monsters.
Throwing them into the deep end lol. The movie is a tough, scary watch for sure. Would love for them to get to a few more horror classics so that they could watch Scream 🍿 think they would like the more humorous tone, as well as being able to follow along with the same characters to root for movie after movie!
Haha a lot of women also liked Kurt Russels beard, hair and eyes too!
Great review guys.
That one holds up 40 years later.
I have another movie to suggest for you guys...it's called Overboard and I think it was made in 1985. This was another fun one....thank you.
Perhaps have them watch another 80’s horror movie “The Fly” and see how they like Jeff Goldblum in a role outside Jurassic Park.
The absence of women in this movie was intentional, as they were more likely to try calming down the situation but the story was meant to escalate with men’s aggression toward each other and increase tension.
lol! it was an antarctic research outpost. there tend to be no women at such remote sites
I'm glad they did appreciate the practical effects 👍
😊
The thumbnail alone is something worth enshrining
“Bohht Gharab!!!!!”
Awesome like always! you should show them "ROBOCOP"
which one?
@@toomanyaccounts There is only one Robocop "Peter Weller -1987/1990" ... they should also watch the number three to complete the original trilogy but not necessary 👍
I loved that you let them watch this one. The Thing is a classic. I know it may have been terrifying but the movie is very exhilarating and they are very mature and wise men so they would know how to separate reality from fiction. However, it's always good to get that emotion of what could be.
Tremendous. Its a tough watch the first time.
To wash away the disgust. I would recommend The Mask of Zorro 1998.
John Carpenter is AWESOME, so is "The Thing!' So is "Halloween!" Have they seen "Halloween"? The classic, number one movie? I hope they see it! My favourite, besides Jaws and "The Thing," is on that list.
John Carpenter is an old fashioned name. John is the most common male name. His last name is a job. Many European last/family name are based on our ancestors jobs, like Baker, Cook, Smith, or Carpenter. Some names like Johnson means son of John.
I know i'm not supposed to laugh but their reactions tickle me lol
😂😂😂😂why not
Prodigal effects will always be best
Thank you for responding to the request :D
Your reaction was priceless!
If you guys need more horror to react to I would like to suggest that you add the 1983 film SLEEPAWAY CAMP to your list.
Great suggestion!
@@Cinephilesreact786 Oh, no! Give 'em a break!
I've been waiting for this one! Love you guys!
You guys are awesome! I always look forward to your videos.
Maybe "Shining" the next one? Or historical movie "Last Samurai" will be great to watch.
Ah, dont torture these poor souls by introducing them to horror movies! lol I say stear clear, these folks are too wholesome for movies like this, but this is a classic though
This is my favorite horror movie of all time. The practical effects are still amazing, and the story is engaging and gripping.
You guys have to watcha Escape From New York and Big Trouble In Little China next (don’t worry there not as gory as this 😅) and much less traumatizing I am so sorry for you guys this movie is a trip
This was a remake of an even older movie.
Blair was a little smarter than the others, so he realized very quickly that the biggest issue was to be sure the Thing never reached civilization. He as much as says that if you listen to his ravings.
I suggest Steven Spielbergs “Duel”. Possibly “die hard”, “the fly (1986)”, or “Ghostbusters”
If they want good horror movies show them the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I love the Thing and Alien movies. You cant beat practical effects.
You guys are pretty cool. I only wish I could play your videos in the background while I do chores. I wish I knew your language, but I'm terrible learning languages. Still fun to watch you, though.
Some war movies they will enjoy: Fury, unbroken, dunkirk, midway. All quiet on the western front, platoon
There are so many good movies to watch, but you all are off to a great start selection wise. That said, I would suggest the movie “The Black Phone” is you all want a recently made suspenseful, thriller movie. I think you guys would fine it interesting. A couple other movie suggestions for now are: The Bourne Identity series, Die Hard series, The Goonies, The Pelican Brief, and Hacksaw Ridge. I am sure you all will get plenty more suggestions from others. Enjoy you movie watching experiences. I enjoy watching your movie reactions. So, thanks for sharing.
Their is a Video Game of the Thing which was a Canonical Sequel towards the 1982 Version. Trust me John Carpenter makes a Cameo in that game.
WOAH! I didn't know I needed this
Shitfire guys we watched this as kids and understood its just what was big, and the movies were 1000 times better.
The Antarctic research station maintained a team of huskies because a dog sled team is the most efficient way to travel through snow and ice over a perpetually frozen landscape.
The original Black/White version is such a good Film love it
I'll be playing The Thing the boardgame soon for Halloween ^_^
Fyi, only skelleton crews over-winter at the bases down there. The winter weather makes supply flights virtually impossible, so only maintenence staff, an administrator, and just enough research staff to keep experiments running stay behind. I applied to be over-winter support staff once, $50K for 3 months, a couple of decades ago. But i had no shot, the positions were very competitive.
Freaky movie hey guys The Thing is my favourite horror movie I'm 53 now I was 16 the first time I saw the Thing still freaks people even in the west even now 37 years l loved your movie reaction Villagers
Word of advise.. the 1980's had the best movies and writers. Science fiction and horror. If this scares you don't see "Hell Raiser"
You guys should watch IT Parts 1 and 2. I feel like you would appreciate all the humor in addition to the scary stuff.
I suggest watching the 2010 movie called, "The Crazies", it's very dramatic and intense.
VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS (2017). Is a good science fiction movie suggestion.
