It is incredible how well this movie is holding up, how good it looks and how well made it is...geeesh, this is from 1972 with a budget which is a fraction of modern day blockbusters many of which cannot even measure up to this!

There are, of course, touching scenes especially between Ogami Itto and Daigoro, such as when Daigoro was given a choice to decide his destiny (go to see his mom or on the vengeance journey with his dad), or when Daigoro was hogtied and suspended above a well only for his dad to cut the rope and set him free.
Loved this movie. So many deceptive attacks on them only to fail miserably against them. Especially since the cart is tricked out with weapons itself. When he says the cute little boy’s name, I’m like “oh boy they are done for.” 🤣
Y'know, the Japanese title of the movie actually refers to the River Sanzu, the Japanese equivalent of the Styx. It's a symbolical barrier that separates the world of the living and the afterlife.

The sadness of the source material is that the antagonist sends his entire family and clan against Itto and daigoro, and every single one of them dies except the elderly leader. There is such a mutual hatred/respect/love for each other, that the antagonist even considers daigoro his grandson

Saw the clip of this franchise with the 3 hired ronin assassins with the desert massacre, was between 10, 12 yrrs old in the 80's. Well, dad...watched your sensei Ittori flicks! Be proud! ^sionara odosama!
Great! My parents would take me to see all the old chambara movies in the 60s when I was little and it was a family night out with dinner and then to the local Toho theater. These were always special occasions because dad was a doctor and had very little time for the family. In the early 70s when I was in college I can't tell you how much we loved seeing these so when I say that seeing this brings back very happy memories - I'm not some kind of psycho! :)
The guy at 4:18 gets what's probably the Lone Wolf's single goriest dispatch in the whole series. You do not drop the Wolf's Cub down a well. You just don't do that.
Wow.. the movie version are even better than the syndication/tv series... 👍🏻👍🏻 Itto Igami : Deadlier and gory-loving Daigoro: sadistic Baby cart: menacing..😅
2:13, even the baby is hood as F**k, he knows the score, F**k these assassin bitches! LOL this series is incredible! Not hard to see why so many anime call back to this XD
Thanks dude, welcome to Carnage Counts! We are hitting horror pretty hard right now, but have some openings on the schedule for November/December, any specific genre you would like to see?!
The Warriors blew my 13 year old brain, I thought it was just so badass, impossible odds stacked against them, they make it to Coney Island just for the bad dudes to be waiting, good stuff man (Shogun Assassin is fantastic too, I put these movies on for background noise at this point all the time, so not discounting that at all!)
This was 70's cheese at its finest. Over the top, in your face, outrageously offensive, bizarre, and loads of fun! Hanzo the Razor is even more twisted.
Probably not. The Mack Bolan the Executioner series of action novels ran from 1968 until 2020. His body count is easily in the 10 to 15 thousand range. (Marvel's Frank Castle the Punisher character is pretty much a direct copy of Bolan.)

Having grown up on "karate movies" in the 70's, I don't know how I missed this series...but yeah, makes you think about the effects on child actors given that the one that did the movies went to jail for gun running, and one them that did the TV show for murder...per imdb.
The lone wolf and cub series were ahead of it’s time 🔥
Daigoro gets #21. The look on his face is priceless. I have a cat who looks the same way when she's about to start kicking ass.
Sounds like your cat now walks the path of the demon in hell
That is the most defensive baby carriage I've ever seen!
He's packing heat!
Just wait dude, just wait
Yeah, it comes with a bonus setting of Gatling guns, with an awesome firing rate.
The kid or "cub" knew exactly where to tap his hand on the cradle's handle to extend a blade sword that plunges into one of the female assassins.
Daigoro was nothing to trifle with 😂

I think samurai jack got its inspiration from this but I can see that
You can also see inspiration from this in The Mandalorian.

River of thr dead. They say it costs at least 6 Mōn to travel the Sanzu River.
I have the all the manga of Lone Wolf and Cub. The movies and shows were great, but the manga was fantastic.

I found a TPB of some of that '80s Lone Wolf and Cub not too long ago actually. Sin City is by far my favorite he has done.

I saw Shogun Assassin on TV late at night in the 80’s, and none of the gore was cut. It was shocking at the time.
Such a outstanding action sequence deserves all credit.

Ogami Itto might have more kills than any other single character. More than James Bond. More than Jason Voorhees. He kills pretty much everyone.

Awesome.
I remember this being called "Shogun Assassin."
The US version edits a couple different Lone Wolf and Cub movies into what is called "Shogun Assassin"
They covered virtually every Ninja-Samurai cliche for pennies on the dollar.
And I loved every second of it
This is the series that inspired Mandalorian. It is based on a popular comic book.❤
The fact that women would always try to harm single man with child is evident from this movie 😂
