The guy losing his head at 3:42 is one of the finest, yet simplest, use of camera perspective and practical effects I've ever seen. The illusion is pretty shocking. This is classic stuff. Thanks.
That was a very sweet story on the previous video, I'm glad you enjoyed it and have happy memories. That's really cool that you saw these in theaters, sounds like you had a really cool dad!
Since it was first published Lone Wolf and Cub has influenced basically everything that’s come since. It’s a hugely important work, it literally cannot be understated how many things have thematic elements from the original publishing
I showed the American cut of the first two films to my ex-wife's family, who came over for a free meal.,which I cooked of course. Her male cousins got excited when the blood started gushing. The women were upset because in "Shogun Assassin" the body count was narrated by Digoro,(the cub) because "a child shouldn't have to live like that". I said, "A child shouldn't have to live with you all as a mother".'" I said that to myself. I think that's why the marriage lasted 15 years.
I watched it for the first time recently ish, I had seen Shogun Assassin but never this. I was looking through HBO for foreign movies that would subtitled, I had just had a baby and was wanting something I could watch on MUTE, it was everything I ever wanted in a samurai movie
Movie suggestions: Interview with the vampire (1994) Matrix resurrections (2021) Army of the dead (2021) Tales from the hood 2 (2018) Resident evil welcome to raccoon city(2021) Spider man no way home (2021) Venom let there be carnage (2021) Goodfellas (1990) Bones (2001) Hell of the living dead(1980) Candyman(2021)
Gonna point out Tomisaburō Wakayama was an actual Judō & Kenjutsu Master, he was an actor 3rd but of an actor family, he was also near or at 50 when he made this, you can not fake his precision and speed.
@@CarnageCounts Oooh, here in the UK i could only get ahold of 4 LWC DVD's Sword of Vengeance Baby Cart at the River Styx Baby Cart to Hades Baby Cart in Peril What have i missed ?.
I forgot how wild this movie was, lol. I mostly just remember the Wave Slicer technique because it was so cool, but there are plenty of great moments in this classic.
Any recommendations for more films like this? I own all the lone wolf and cub criterion collection, also the Zatiochi. But I’d like some hidden gems no one really talks about. As violent as cool.
I got to say this looks cool I've not seen this before or even heard of it but I going to see if I can find it. This could have been a movie to give to my dad on dvd but the thing is my dad don't like subtitles me on the other hand I don't mind them. It's like when I got my dad a double feature dvd of the raid and the raid 2 I had to make sure they where dubbed in any and they are luckily. Any who I might just watch this myself.

I’m so glad you are back to pumping out kill counts more often! 👍❤️🔥
Me too!
I love these old Samurai movies, no flashy gun fights, romance angles, or car chases, just a man with a sword against the ones who wronged him!
Lone Wolf and Cub is why I love Samurai Jack so much. Its influence is was the foundation for one of the series.
@@lastswordfighter Cool, I didn't know that.
Well said
I love how the sound effects during the fight scenes seem to be only what's on Lone Wolf's mind during the fight.
These bring back such good memories! Thank you!

I think the game Sekiro might be inspired by this movie.
They all have a child to protect, and Sekiro in Japanese literally means lone wolf.
Since it was first published Lone Wolf and Cub has influenced basically everything that’s come since. It’s a hugely important work, it literally cannot be understated how many things have thematic elements from the original publishing
Nope. Sekiro was mostly inspired by Dororo
It's good to see you again, I miss you 😘😘
Good to see you again, CC! Fingers crossed for more samurai flicks?
I sure hope so.
"what are you waiting for, kill him"

I've never heard of the movie until I heard about the manga. I'm surprised this movie is 50 years old.
I'm 58yo now and I saw this movie in a movie theater when I was a little kid
I saw this movie when I was a little kid, now year 2024 and I'm already 58yo and still I can watch this movie, one of my all-time favorite movie

I like lone wolf and cub very much 👏👏👏👏👍
In the flashback scenes when Tomisaburo goes on a rampage the only sound you hear is the sword cutting flesh and the blood flowing like a river.
