This guy must be a know-it-all stupid blind-sighted, hungarian fool. (I am also Hungarian but am ashamed by this fact tbh). In this country everyone seems to praise german cars for whatever reason. In their eyes a BNR34 is a piece of shit, az NSX is ugly and slow, so is a fully built WRX STI. Only the 20 years old 3L turbo diesel vw engines are of worth.

With a good turbo this car does about 5.2 which is pretty quick for a 2 litre 4 cyclinder. Love the boxer engine

Ich bin ihn damals direkt nach seiner Markteinführung gefahren und muss sagen, dass ich bisher kein besseres "Drivers-Car" erlebt habe.
Der GT86 ist das beste Beispiel dafür, dass man keine 3, 4, oder 500 PS benötigt, um wirklich Spaß am Auto fahren zu haben. :)
Für den Spaß auf der Landstraße im gesetzlichen Rahmen ist er einfach nur perfekt! :D
Auto-dietschej mag sein, hatte vor meinem jetzigen Auto auch ein Auto mit eigentlich wenig Leistung aber eben nur 1000kg, gutes Fahrwerk, Saugmotor der bis 7,5 dreht und alles noch mechanisch, auf der Landstraße machte er wirklich richtig Spaß. Aber im Alltag ist man doch auch mal auf der Autobahn usw unterwegs und sich dann von jedem Diesel versägen zu lassen wir einem einfach zu blöd auf Dauer 😁 mir persönlich zumindest
Und dann kommt er, der lausige Corsa OPC/Clio RS/Fiesta ST und zeigt dem tollen GT86 wie man mit ner Landstraße wirklich umgeht. Was richtige Autos mit dem anstellen steht dann nochmal auf nem ganz anderen Blatt.

Ich weiß nicht welche der von dir genannten Wagen du so gefahren bist, aber ich für meinen Teil nehm dann lieber den Heckantrieb und Saugmotor, dem alles und jeder um die Ohren fährt, aber hab dafür eben den bereits angesprochenen Fahrspaß. Aber weißt du was, das ist zum Glück alles Geschmacksache ;)
Hast du zufällig auch erfahrung mit 350z gesammelt? Um die beiden vergleichen zu können?

Auf der geraden schnell fahren ist keine kunst. Das kann jeder horst.
Ich habe einen gt86 und fahr auf der autobahn auf langen strecken zwischen 130-140. Tempomat stellen und cruisen.
Soll der diesel SUV seine 180 fahren, ich fahre auf kurvenreichen strecken fast allem davon. Erst recht denen, die glauben autobahn ballern ist das allertollste.
Es kommt drauf an WIE du schnell fährst. Nicht wie schnell du fährst.

@@cringe9406 All cars today have his own "VTEC". GT86 is called “DAVCS” (Dual Active Valve Control System) on intake and exhaust, because Toyota has his own system for his other cars valled VTT-I.

Pedal dance mode, this is true 0% TC mode. There’s videos on how to achieve it and I’ve found that mostly drift racers know about the dance, given that he’s just going in straight lines I doubt he had it engaged.

And if you want more power throw a supercharger on for 500. Youll make 350hp.

You can get a supercharger kit for 5000. 350 hp.
As an 86 owner i think this car is brilliantly balanced, grippy when needed and drifty when needed and good fun... however it could use more torque and BHP.. just another 40-50bhp would have been nice.

Sithene you just don’t understand. The 86 handles and corners at higher speeds then most cars that are around $70,000 or less. You can buy a new 86 for 30,000, hit it with a turbo or build the engine and your faster then cars that are in the 70-100,000 range for less then 40k. And this is a new one I’m talking about. If you get it used you can build one that will beat Caymens , 5.0 stangs, Vettes for around 30k total. This car is a platform just begging to be modified, it’s all about making it your own

i30 N all the way. And I am a die hard Toyota/Lexus guy who never owned anything but Toyotas/Lexuses and have always been completely happy with them. i30 N is an INCOMPARABLY faster and more practical car (both hatch and fastback are 5-door). And the quality is good enough. I am HUGELY disappointed by the GT86. It needs AT LEAST 250 horsepower. Just 200 is a fucking JOKE! Especially the version with the automatic transmission, that is literally HORRIBLE - top speed like 130 mph... OMG!!! GT86 is a slower car (acceleration and top speed) than my Lexus LS 400 (I sold many years ago). The i30N has nearly twice the torque of GT86!!! You will NEVER regret your choice... And it is less expensive... A complete no brainer - i30N >>>>>> GT86.

jr nascimento Yes. It is Tuned by Toyota. And This engine is Horizontally-opposed cylinder engine that has short strokes so it’s a high rotation type engine. I mean It has high horsepower instead of less torque.

This 86 was not built for Straight Lines. It's Low and Inner Center Of Gravity + NA was for better handling during twisty roads. You'll notice the greatness of this during corners.
This Car was built for fun driving not for tuning and spending 60 days on garage haha.

Sadly the German market is the only market which doesn't get the 205 hp software upgrade of the facelift. Though I am not sure if it makes the torque dip better or worse.

The only drawback of the car is its model. It's has a sporty look and deliver only 200 hp making most of us to say that it's slow etc etc etc. With that super car like model, everybody expecting 400 500 hp. But it it had the same model as a normal civic, mazda, toyota, many would say that its fast

It probably is, and I don’t give the car any points I the acceleration department. BUT. The car is simply fun in the turns lol I’ve driven C Class Mercedes, Lancers, sat in a Supra and a Hellcat for drifts and drags and I’d still not give up my crusty lil 86 for any of those cars simply because how it hugs on the turnssss i take full 90° turns at 45 miles per hour and barely hear a skrrrt. But, if i wanted to, i could pop the handbrake, turn off the traction control and get a beautiful drift out of it. It’s just so much fun you know? 😩❤️

They already sell extremely well and more power means the need for more durable parts, which in turn adds weight, which needs more power to propel, which then gets expensive beyond the realms of this particular car's target market.

The whole point of the car when it was made was to create a cheap fun car. That’s it lol.
Also, if you want speed out the box you should just get the heavier older cousin with less turn radius and no automatic tiptronics. The Supra 🥴 I’ve sat in one and the Supra is more of an actual race car while the 86 is considered a track toy. The Supra is fun as hell when the turbo kicks in (comes with turbo) but the stock 86 just dominates in winding roads
And business wise, it would be unwise to drop a turbo into the 86 at manufacturing because it would make people not want to buy the Supra at all since it’s niche would be gone as the turbo’d stock car from Toyota

Too bad people are arguing about cars, manufacturers and straight line performance :( Its childish and indeed very sad. Though I may have one car I can still appreciate the other for what it is. I do know a thing or two about cars, their internals and the engineering that goes into 'em but never say one is better then the other since I can't even manufacture a spark plug myself. It is just not within the average users' right to judge these complicated machines. Humanity has taken a seriously wrong turn -and not just in this regard. People are stupid.

Ich finde es mittlerweile echt traurig wie deutsche von PS geblendet sind. Es interessiert nur wie schnell das Auto geradeaus fährt, nicht wie viel Spaß ein gewisses Handling machen kann. Jeder der dieses Auto kauft weiß zu schätzen was es einem gibt. Und wenn man unbedingt mehr Leistung haben möchte, kauft einen gebrauchten, bastelt einen Turbo drauf und ihr habt für 20.000€ knapp 400PS auf der Hinterachse (OHNE TÜV :D), dann fährt er gerade aus sogar schnell ;)

WRX nope, TYPE-R have a 320 HP and 400 NM torque because it equipped with turbo this car just have 200 HP and 205 NM torque and naturally aspirated so TYPE-R is clearly win

Also bin mit meinem aktuellen Audi A3 etron genau so schnell. Meiner ist schwerer und ist definitiv nicht auf Sport ausgelegt auch wenn er 204 ps Systemleistung hat.

Was soll man dazu sagen? Du vergleichst Äpfel und Birnen. Der Audi e-tron hat vom Start weg bis ca. 2000 U/min das reine Drehmoment des Elektromotors, das übrigens bei 330 Nm liegt (sind fast 130 Nm mehr). Kombiniert mit dem 1.4 TFSI ergibt sich ein Systemdrehmoment von 350 Nm. Der 86 hat "nur" 205 Nm und ist nicht aufgeladen.
Der 86 ist weder untermotorisiert noch langsam. Er tut das was er soll und das sogar verdammt gut. In seiner Klasse muss er sich vor keinem verstecken.
Der GT86 ist weder gut motorisiert, noch für seine Leistung schnell. Ich frag mich was Toyota da gebaut hat. Mag ja sein, dass er sich schön um die Kurven fahren lässt, aber das macht doch auch kein Spaß ohne etwas Dampf unter‘m Kessel.

Natürlich vergleiche ich die Leistungsdaten mit einem Kompaktwagen, welches wie oben beschrieben definitiv NICHT auf Sportlichkeit ausgelegt ist. Klar wird der Toyota vom Handling besser da stehen, aber die Leistungen passen einfach nicht zu der Beschreibung als "Sportcoupe".
