Great video and scenery. I was born and raised in Scotland, and used to go fishing on Loch Awe, but most of us took all the old buildings and castles for granted, though we did explore them, and back in the 1960's there were no restrictions and keep out signs. I've been right down into the dungeons of Kilchurn, pronounced Kilearn.
Such a wonderful and beautifully situated castle ruin. I love how you captured it with your drone. Wonderful golden hour shots as outro. Very nice video and castle presentation again, my dear friend.👏👌
Thank you. The location of this castle did most of the work for me. Beautiful hills, loch etc made camera angle choice pretty easy. Glad you enjoyed it.
It’s a tricky call - but I enjoy using the visuals to emphasise the history and that has to involve putting text over the video. Thanks for your comment.
Many thanks. It’s possible to film if you request permission from the owners, usually Historic Environment Scotland. I would then suggest using a sub 250g drone - so that you can get close to the buildings.
Such a beautiful place, it must have been idyllic to live there in warmer months, and as long as they had firewood for the fireplaces in the winter - is that why Scotland has so few trees or did they burn peat ? I guess the lairds were warm enough with plenty of serfs to run around looking after them ! I would not have liked to be a poor person in those times !
Yes, a very dramatic setting. History seems to suggest that as soon as society was suitably settled, the families moved to more comfortable accommodation - suggesting that life in a castle was more functional than comfortable. Tree loss in the highlands was in part due to the introduction of large sheep herds/flocks that would stop new growth. Another reason for the reduction in trees was the building of railroads where the timber was used for sleepers. Yes, no matter how cold a castle was - the occupants still had it way better than the average person who lived in smoke filled ‘Black Houses’ - small cottages often shared with their livestock. Hope this answers some of your points.
Absolutely stunning footage of this magnificent castle and scenery 👌 😍 liked and subscribed 👍👍
Many thanks, and much appreciated.
Campbell’s have to be watched constantly!!!
Every video I watch of so many glorious castles I really wish i could go back & see it in it's glory days ! Thanks for your video - lovely shots !
Yes, to see them in their day would be truly amazing - and potentially a little risky:) Thank you for your comment.

This was the very first castle that I visited while on my trip around the Highlands of Scotland. Great views on the lake from the towers!
Thanks for sharing
1 question? Why destroy the visuals you captured? When you could have added it all to description box. What a good video i applaud you

@@SeekerfilmsI welcome the informative text and think your videos are in an excellent format, really enjoyable.
WOW there is A LOT of ruined castles in Scotland! The history there is absolutely mind blowing!
There certainly are - so many stories attached to each one. Thanks for your comment.
Great footage captured! What did you need to do in order to get permission to film near castles with a drone?

@@Seekerfilms thanks for the info. I'm planning a trip to Scotland in the future and hope to bring my DJI Mavic Mini 2 which is a sub 250g drone.
What landscape 👍
It does make taking a picture that bit easier. Whichever direction you look - it’s all gorgeous:)
