  • CW: Darker topics in fiction are mentioned including SA, toxic relationships, and violence. They are not deeply explored, but are mentioned. Take care of yourselves.
I'm eager to hear everyone's thoughts on this. I'll be doing another video on the ethics of darker topics in at some point in the future. That is going to be a much longer video and much more in depth, but it does take time, so I'll be taking into account the comments from this video and would appreciate any input or insight my audience has to offer.
    Thanks for being here.

I've actually been planning my own thoughts/discussion video on how I feel about the presentations of dark content in romance novels, particularly regarding genre, so I appreciate getting to hear another perspective on the matter from someone I'm subbed to. 😌
All the power to IV Ophelia for her hyper-awareness of what she's writing, and being so diligent to warn readers that she isn't at all encouraging it. I feel like too many other authors (like Col-ver) give off the vibe that they write about dark and/or toxic content much of the time purely for sales, but without any consideration for handling such sensitive topics, or how it might affect their readers, especially for those of us who consider themselves quite good at mental picturing (like me), and that's largely what the critique centers around for me personally. 👩‍⚖
Btw, I love the new inclusion of your little avatar/icon. 💜

Thank you very much! I'm eager to hear your thoughts as well! Yes, I really appreciate IV Ophelia's transparency and the multiple warnings she put out. I'm glad this book challenged me and I think Dark Romance is certainly a nuanced conversation.
Thanks for being here! I'm glad you like my Avatar! My friend drew it for me :)

Thank you for making this review. I recently finished this book and had similar conflicting feelings, especially with chapter 48. But your review helped me come to a better understanding. You are right the author's morality shouldn't be questioned based on what they write. And Ophelia herself warns us that these characters are not good people. I commend Ophelia for taking so many risks with her debut novel as you've said many authors stick to the safe stuff.
While I wish the ending was more clear and written differently I still enjoy the majority of the journey. Silas and Alina's banter is so exciting and sensual that I couldn't help but binge the book in two sitting.
I do have one question. What book would you recommend that is similar to this one?
