Actually not only is this Randy Travis's song but he's got a lot of massive hits!! He was at the top of the game when he had his stroke!! It's been over 20 years ago. They just got him a couple years ago on the stage to honor him & he could just barely get the words thank you out & they had to take him back to his seat. It was a sweet sadness. Sad for all that happened to him & how many yrs & hard work it took all those yrs just to do that & all the great music & doing what he loved that he & his fans missed out on. But sweet because most people don't come that far from a stroke & he was mentally able to know he was being honored & see the love and support from the country music community as everyone stood and clapped!! It was so heartfelt!! He's also the one who done "Three Wooden Crosses" & many more greats!!! Love 💘 Randy Travis!!

This was written and recorded by Randy Travis back in 1987, from the album 'Always and Forever' and it's been one of my favs since then. Carrie does an excellent job here, but I like the original better.

You're an interesting guy, Ty. It's interesting that you're blown away by this performance but when you listened to her rendition of How Great Thou Art, you were like "Meh." I know you've heard many different versions of that gospel tune, and so have I, and I have still never heard anything quite as moving as her version. BUT I love your reactions to her stuff. You should listen to Randy Travis' original track. He is a country legend who im sure Carrie is a big fan. Going to "pop" would be a downgrade to a real country artist, even a suggestion. Country has a rich history and is not just music but a way of life including conservative values. Carrie is a special person and singer, but even she knows and respects those legends who came before.

I hate country, Carrie is literally the only person in that genre I'll listen to. I don't think she has a very traditionally "country" voice tbh, she just sings with a lot of twang. I feel like she has more of a pop belter type of voice though. Listen to her soulful song "Low" off her new album.
