- The Articles of Faith are a set of 13 core belief statements that were written by Joseph Smith in 1842 as a response to a newspaper editor’s request for information about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Articles of Faith were officially canonized as scripture in 1880.
The Articles of Faith describe fundamental beliefs about the nature of God, the mission and Atonement of Jesus Christ, and the holy scriptures. They also address the importance of religious freedom, tolerance for the beliefs of others, missionary work, baptism, and obedience to secular laws and governments.
The Articles of Faith provide a good summary of the beliefs of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but they do not include all the Church’s beliefs. Members of the Church believe in continuing revelation-in other words, God’s continuing communication with people on earth, which allows for new doctrine to be given. The Articles of Faith contain messages that help people become better followers of Jesus Christ so that they can return to live with God.

Why weren't black people allowed to be priest till 1978?
Claudio Perrone, because that’s how long it took for the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve to receive the revelation that they should. Any answer that someone gives you that explains more than this is speculation.
DEVON BLAKE
Well that’s ok then. 🙄
Devon's actually got a pretty good answer, but I have a thought or two that you might find useful. God has so much that He wants to give us, but we're not always ready for it. For example, God gave Moses a law after the Exodus of the people of Israel from Egypt, but right away Moses had to deal with idolatry and then go receive the law again, and it wasn't until thousands of years later that the people were ready for Christ to teach them the higher law, and even then, they killed Him for it. Our lack of faith slows us down in receiving what God wants for us. Evidently, in 1978, we were ready to know that all worthy men should be permitted to hold the Priesthood and be ordained to priesthood offices.
Black people did receive the Priesthood before 1978, during the time of Joseph Smith in the early days of the Church. In fact, there is no recorded revelation where God said they couldn't hold the Priesthood or attend the Temple. In 1852, Brigham Young announced a policy that instituted the so called Priesthood and Temple ban (the Church is not sure why or where it originated from). Over time, several explanations and speculations were used to justify it, sometimes erroneously as doctrine, but the Church disavows all of those today. In 1978, the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles received a revelation that pretty much reversed the Priesthood and Temple ban. For now, I believe it's best to put the past behind us and move forward in the spirit of unity as the Savior taught.

@@Forensica Do you think that racial tensions in America when it was introduced have anything to with it. That time period is one of the worst for whites and blacks because it was at the peak of hatred and greed which would bring the country into a civil war. For the church to be integrated in those days would have surely meant the end of its existence.
As an ex-Mormon, I take particular issue with article 3, which states in its entirety: we believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved BY OBEDIENCE TO THE LAWS and ordinances of the Gospel.
Which flies directly in the face of Ephesians 2:8-9, which very clearly states: for it is BY GRACE you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast.
SummerSunshine1988 The gift of grace, made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, is one that must be continually partaken of during one’s life. It cannot be a singular event for the recipient: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). Because the Savior stands at the door and knocks, we are able to choose through the gift of agency whether to open our “door” (i.e. our lives) to Him. Even after opening that door, we can choose, as many do, to close the door of our faith and conversion to the Savior and His gospel throughout our lives. Despite the pain it must bring Him, the Father will force none of His children through compulsion to return to Him. Therefore, as part of the prerequisite for receiving the Savior’s grace in our lives, we must accept it, for it will not be forced upon us. Think of giving someone a gift who either does not want it or more appropriately said: someone who rejects the giver outright. Faith in the Jesus Christ and repentance, get a person onto the path towards salvation and exaltation. “Grace is not the absence of God’s high expectations. Grace is the presence of God’s power.” (“His Grace Is Sufficient,” Brad Wilcox; Luke 1:37). Growth and development, in all aspects of life, take time. At least this was the case for the Savior of Humanity: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:52). We are empowered by the Savior’s grace when we accept it and apply it to all aspects of our lives. Merry Christmas, brother.
You choose one verse from the entire New Testament as the entire basis for salvation. What about Christ's command to be perfect found in Matthew 5:48? Or that we must show our faith BY our works (James 2:14-18).
@@scoutmiller7912 In regards to Jesus' command to be perfect, He didn't tell us to be perfect and then leave us to figure it out on our own. He told us to be perfect and then proceeded to die for our sins because He knew that we could never be perfect. Our perfection comes through Him alone. Mind you, grace is not an invitation to sin as much as we want and of course we should always strive to be obedient, but neither is grace a carrot that we must jump through hoops to earn. The reason grace is a free gift is because we are utterly incapable of being perfectly obedient as the law demands.
In regards to showing faith by works, yes, I agree, we do show our faith to the world by our works and if we do not have works then we do not have faith and are not really saved. But even our good deeds are like filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6) and do not earn us salvation. Salvation is a free gift by grace.
@Chucku Farley Jesus said He came to fulfill the law of Moses, and He fulfilled it by becoming the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so that we are no longer under the condemnation of the law. I am not foolish enough to argue with God over anything, I just have to read the Bible and believe what it says.
Matthias was chosen by the remaining eleven to replace Judas after his death. Paul was chosen by God to bring God's message to the Gentiles as it says in Acts 9:15. Paul was by no means self-appointed. You can read about his conversion in the book of Acts.
@@mafillehermes7821 Merry late Christmas to you as well.
The Bible itself has already declared that it is a living and active document! So any additional doctrine stating what the Bible has already said is excessive and not needed. But I did come to this video to learn, and that is what I did! Thank you for the informative video.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV
John 21:25 "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." Every time we receive more of the Word of God, it's wonderful!
Modern-day living Prophet s and Apostles - mandatory elements of Christ’s true church, then and now
Living apostles, prophets and teachers would be a part of Christ's true church -Ephesians 2:19-20, 1 Cor. 12:27-28, Mark 3:13-15
Two modern-day, living prophets of God will be killed by evil men (thus, legitimate latter-day prophets) - Rev. 11:4-12
Christ's warning about false prophets did not state that ALL prophets would be false, for the system of prophets and apostles was to perpetuate (and did) after Christ’s departure- Mat. 17:15, 1 Cor. 12:27-28, Acts 13:1, Acts 11:28-30
God does nothing unless his secrets are revealed to us through the mouths of his prophets - Amos 3:7
Living prophets were part of the post-Christ church - Acts 13:1, 11:28-30, Ephesians 4:11-14
Mankind is solely responsible to believe in the prophets - Luke 16:19-31
God has always spoken through prophets, and never said he was done speaking through them - Luke 1:70
God speaks to Ezekiel through a prophet instead of choosing to speak to him directly -Isaiah 37:4-5
Many of Christ's true prophets got killed in the "Name of God" (Joseph Smith martyred as well) - John 16:2
Christ's ways have not and will not be changed ever (this would include speaking through prophets) - Hebrews 13:8
Hebrews 13:8 KJV

Please show love and respect for these wonderful videos. These videos weren't intended to be fuel for contention. Jesus taught very strongly in the Bible against contention. He even said to go the extra mile and love your enemies, including those who unrighteously use you, and persecute you. Even if we don't share the same beliefs, let us learn from each other on how we can help make this world a more kind and loving place. I challenge all of you to say just one thing that you like about these videos without guile, or a hidden meaning.
The same Jesus that's gonna comeback and by his very word cause entire nations to fall??? Paul said that anyone that preaches a false gospel is condemned
@@Jay-zp3kn this is a very good point and one hat often causes confusion, we need to look at the situation that the last days are :) "wickedness" is spread over all the earth, "Satan will no longer be bound" and all who choose Satan to replace their Father in Heaven, God, and make the choice to preach false things to lead people away and decieve them, I believe that'd the kind of person Paul is talking about. God is a God of justice AND mercy, he can't can't one without the other or else he wouldn't be perfect. All His judgements are made perfectly, something we as current Mortals have no way of understanding. So all the nation's that will fall will have chosen Satan's way, and the peoples "hearts will be hardened, and they will be stiff necked" when there are rapes, murder, assassination in a country and its almost completely taken by spiritual darkness, God will tell the righteous and all those that will listen to get out, because He loves His children and weeps at our wickedness. And when all that are righteous are escaped, I believe then he will destroy it, and the scriptural evidence of the story of Sodum and Gommorah represents this. And even if the righteous CAN'T get out, they will be spared :) there is a story in the Book of Mormon about that. If you have anymore questions let me know, but I would love to encourage you to look to the scriptures for your own answers! :) I've found things before that seemed contradictory, but I've found that whenever in the gospel I follow seems to contradict itself, there's always something that I didn't understand, not some flaw in the doctrine :) I would also love to invite you to read the Book of Mormon, it is the keystone of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's religion, and helps with the interpretation of the Bible. I love you, and more importantly God loves you, and would like you to know that God is with you in your life- and you will see Him if you ask to see His hand in your life 😄💖
@@Jay-zp3kn Yes, the same Jesus. More specifically, Paul said in Galatians 1 that those who preach a false gospel would be "accursed", which is not quite the same thing as being condemned. Following any falsehood deprives us of blessings, and the opposite of blessing is cursing. But contention tends to incline people toward holding onto their ideas all the more firmly, and doesn't help them come to any better understanding. As we hope to preach truth, we find that it works much better to do so without contention so that those who truly seek it will not be turned away from it. But people are free to choose, and someday, Christ will make it very clear.
@@Jay-zp3kn Jesus does NOT cause the nations to fail. They will fail because of the influence of Satan, whom they worship. Jesus will come and make an end of ALL nations and he will rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I choose to say this in print. Had it not been for my loving/faithful wife & eternal companion Kitty and the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints I would not be here on this earth. Do recognition on two counts here!👌🏽👍🏼

Grace through faith alone are we saved ,that's it , nothing else....
Jesus Christ taught a lot more than that. Be willing to accept what God gives us.
Not even when Jesus told the rich young man what he had to DO to gain eternal life? Not even when Jesus said that if we love him to keep his commandments? Not even when Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be baptized before he could enter or even see the Kingdom of God? Not even when James said that Faith without works is dead? It's sad that you and your church will take ONE scripture Paul said that by GRACE ONLY are we saved, not of works, but gloss over MANY scriptures throughout the Bible that speak of works and how we'll all be judged by them. Paul was talking about something ELSE entirely.

If I want to buy an Audi car, I should only go to official Audi sites and not look at any other sites or reviews?
@@jonsixtythree The Audi site would naturally be the first place to go, given that they would have official and accurate information on their own products. Similarly, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' web site is the only place where you can get official statements of doctrine. It's also possible to get others' testimonials, but always do so somewhat cautiously, as they may have other agendas. In particular, there are some who active spread misinformation about the Church because of some sort of grudge; be wary of that. I'd be willing to answer any questions you may have, to the best of my ability. But frankly, there is a lot of wonderful stuff on the Church's web site also. It's kind of amazing, and really helpful for a lot of people; you'll see if you take a look.
Jay Britton Fisher Have you read the Gospel Topics Essays on the church’s website? What did you think about it?
@@solangesmusic.1877 I'm sure I haven't read 100% of those articles. I would typically turn there when I'm interested in a particular topic, rather than going through one at a time. I have found those topics somewhat fascinating. It's helpful to really know about those things when people hear something strange about the Church so as to explain things better. There are some things that sound strange or even uncomfortable if not understood well, but when we turn to God in prayer, He can give us both comfort and knowledge. I've seen it in my life and others', and it's wonderful. Most of the time, it's important to focus on basics, though: love, service, kindness, faith, repentance--we tend to need to work on those.
Jesus Christ's Atonement is truly for all - Jesus suffered for all mankind, not just for those who are good looking or who are good at public speaking - Not just for those who are well read or who have studied the Bible their whole life - Jesus suffered, died and was resurrected for everyone! This belief does not contradict the Bible or the Book of Mormon. When I help someone in need, I do so not because I think I'm going to get extra brownie points in Heaven, I do so because I truly want to help those in need. My faith in God and Jesus Christ comes not only by lip service, but by action as well. Watching or being a part of a sermon is always better than merely hearing one. I know there are Christians of all sects who practice this, so therefore I don't know why anyone who truly considers himself or herself a Christian would disagree with it.
Baffling how people could and would give a thumbs down to this. Even if one does not espouse these beliefs, can we not respect each other’s differing beliefs and be civil? You worship how you want (or not), and I’ll worship how I want. Let’s be more civil to everyone.
Maybe they felt it was not well done, or seemed lacking. I think a video on the 13 articles of faith, should contain all 13. They blurred out the second article of faith, why?
They fat thumed it?
I don't think a dislike amounts to being uncivil. But ok.. righteous as always
Disagreeing doesn't mean disrespecting. It means disagreeing, which a thumbs down would represent.

“We believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly”
What a sweet way of indirectly saying that the Bible we have now are false.
Hello @Jeremy Tan, members of the Church believe the Bible is the word of God and that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. For you or others interested, you can learn more about our belief in the Bible and Jesus Christ through a short video at the link below: ruclips.net/video/GtYpkAQGRkU/видео.html
Jeremy, are you aware of the multiple translations of the Bible, even in just the English language? There are indeed many, and not all are of equal accuracy and value. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses the King James Version of the Bible, and you can even access it online through the Church's web site at churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures .
I was given the Joseph Smith Translation, “Inspired Version” of the King James Version, but I loaned it to a missionary just before he was transferred. Unfortunately I didn’t read it.
Without actually having absolute proof we still probably know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon
are the word of God.
Actually, I have been to other Churches for years (before I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Some other Churches I had attended twist the words, the meanings, and manipulate their congregations with false ideas and beliefs about the Bible, sometimes to get gain or control. So, yeah, as far as it is translated correctly can also mean that, as well.
I love how They showed the first part of article 3 and only the first part 😂😂 allow me to finish it. “...by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.” -Articles of Faith 1:3.
In other words, mankind can be saved Through their own merit and not by the grace of God alone.
Edit - spelling
Titus 3:5 goes against that saying "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"

Our third Article of Faith states, "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel." Jesus didn't teach us that we are saved by our words or good intention alone, but by faith in, and obedience to, his teachings. Whether you believe the LDS church represents his teachings well is another issue, but we aren't saved by mere "faith alone."

Galatians 2:16
Galatians 3:2-3
Works have no effect on our salvation, they are result of our faith in Christ.
James 2:17 addressed the issue of faith without works being dead, when this is put into context with Romans 3 and 4 you see works have no affect on our salvation however they do show a living faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 addressed the same issue, saved by grace through faith thanks to our merciful Father, and also works have no impact on that salvation so that none may boast.
Scripture denies any idea of salvation from anything other than faith and grace. Galatians done the same and tried to intertwine works and faith it just isn't the way scripture shows us that, I pray you all find the truth
I am a convert since 1995, and I still believe and feel that this is the True Church of Jesus Christ.
Odd that they neglected to mention the seventh Article of Faith states: "We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues...

Christianity is the truth
Why would you do a video on the 13 articles of faith, and not cover all thirteen?
Here is the 13 articles of faith:
1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinancesof the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersionfor the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of handsfor the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I so absolutely love our excellent Church media. So creative and well done!
Since both Christians and Mormons believe in the bible we shud put to light the importance of the verse in revelations 22:18-19 " I warn every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if any one adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. Bible RSV version
Hi, there. I'd love to share some things to help you understand. First, "Mormon" as used to refer to the Church of Jesus Christ or its members is just a nickname. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints most certainly are Christian. We usually study from the KJV Bible. Second, it's important to understand what John was talking about in Revelation 22. At the time John wrote that, the Bible didn't exist. The Bible wasn't collected and compiled until several centuries later. Thus, anyone at the time would have known that John was referring to his own book that we call Revelation. It's interesting to note that Moses used similar language about his own writing back in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32. We don't reject any scripture; in fact, the writings of the Bible encourage us to embrace all scripture that God gives us. Feel free to learn more about the restored Church of Jesus Christ at ComeUntoChrist.org.
@@00Fisher00 how do you explain Ephesians 2:8-9?
@@user-ly2xw8to3t It's just a statement about the grace of Christ. None of us can ever merit salvation without Him; our best effort will never be enough without His grace. But His grace can suffice for us. Is that something you've been unclear about?
Are you aware that John, who wrote the Book of Revelation, wrote his epistles AFTER the Book of Revelation? Should those be rejected and disposed of?
John refers to the Book (scroll) of Revelation, NOT the Bible which would not be constructed until many years later.
I have a question, or two. So, Mormons believe in the KJB, but also the Book of Mormon. Does the Book of Mormon line up with the scriptures of the KJB, in its entirety? If not, how do you justify believing in a book of "scripture" that doesn't line up with, and possibly contradicts, the KJB? I just know that even when reading the Apocrypha books, before deciding that they should be considered inspired by God, they're compared to the KJB, to see if and how, they line up with the KJB. Growing up as a non-denominational Christian, I was always taught to verify that things written about God/Jesus/Holy Spirit lined up with the KJB before considering it truth/beneficial/accurate. I'm just trying to seek understanding. As a kid, I was taught The Church of Latter Day Saints was really The Church of Latter Day Satan. So, I never really learned anything about Mormons. However, as I'm learning, as an adult, not everything we're taught is correct and I see Mormons love Jesus. I'm trying to connect the dots. Like, I've learned so much about Catholicism, its evil history, and understanding of why people feel you can't trust the KJB as God's word, why people say the Jesus we worship isn't the real Jesus, etc. Saran was super successful in creating confusion and nonbelievers with the creation of Roman Catholicism.
You have great questions! You also clearly have some understanding of the differences in varying versions of the Bible, which puts you ahead of many people in that respect. First, I'd be interested in hearing what brings you to believe in the Bible in the first place. How do you know it's the word of God? How would you explain that to someone who had no knowledge of it?
I've studied the Bible (mostly KJV) and the Book of Mormon a fair amount. I find that 1) there are many different interpretations people have of Bible passages, and 2) when people cite contradictions between them, what they're really highlighting is contradictions between doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ and particular interpretations of the Bible. It's good to recognize that some things taught ostensibly with Biblical support are in fact based in incorrect interpretations.
Sorting things out and finding truth can be difficult, but God has given us a tool in our day to help us--the Book of Mormon. For my part, it is actually because of the Book of Mormon that I am reassured about the divinity of the Bible. We are given a promise by God that has guided and helped millions of people. The final author in the Book of Mormon, before he buried the book (only to be found much later, in our time), knew that we would have it someday, and he wrote (in Moroni 10:2-5):
"And I seal up these records, after I have spoken a few words by way of exhortation unto you.
Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
I encourage you to learn more and seek to know from God Himself that the Book of Mormon is true. You will not regret it.

@JavyMcdeez, we believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' edition of the King James Version of the Bible is supplemented with footnotes, study aids, cross references, and some excerpts from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. The Book of Mormon and teachings of living prophets also bring greater clarity and light to the teachings of the Bible. Amen...and amen. Spoken with love, this is the most important message in these comments
I never get why we continue to use the King James Version of the bible when our chief complaint about it is it's not translated correctly? Here's a suggestion, start using a better translation. How about the RSV? I like the NASB, it's accurate too. But seriously, KJV? It's almost as obfuscating as when the Catholics did everything in Latin.
This is the official version because it was the best translation available at the time. It isnt a problem if youd like to use another version. I had an institute teacher who loved using the New Internation Version. Again not a problem. Actually, better yet, teach yourself Hebrew or Greek and do your own translation. It's much more meaningful that way. You find that there is so much more to learn from the scriptures that the words used in any translation.
As for your point about the translation... I think what the church is referring to isnt the translation of what we have, but rather the translation which has been made over the many thousands of years which have caused the the loss of many plain and precious things. I could be wrong but though I'd share it as I understand.
The KJV preserves a lot of meaning that is lost in other translations. Some of the language is rough, but it's still very useful. I've heard that the Jubilee translation is also very good, but I haven't studied it.
SentByHim We use the KJV because, as J. Reuben Clark explained, it treats the divinity and messiahship of Jesus Christ with greater reverence.
It's because Mormons are at their core KJV onlyists. They can't stand another Bible since their "prophet" tried to write in the same fashion and failed spectacularly. He liked that version as well since he literally quoted it with the translator's notes in his forgery better known as the Book of Mormon.

Did you notice how article #3 was cut short and he did not state the full article? Now I just wonder why that was? Could it be because it contradicts the clear teaching of the one and only word of the living God the Bible? I just read a Mormon scholar who plainly states that Mormons "Do not believe in the inerrancy of scripture." Mormons MUST undermine the inerrancy and perfection of holy scripture in order to make way for their extra-biblical and uninspired books. That is in contrast with almost all mainline Christian denominations and Article 3 is SERIOUSLY opposite of what the word of God, the Bible, teaches. Nobody ever has been saved by obedience to laws. It is faith in the shed blood of Christ, the Lamb of God that saves and no works of righteousness that we can do saves us or helps to save us. Titus 3:5,6 Joseph Smith was a false prophet and those who follow him will follow him to eternal damnation.
Are you not aware that there have been multiple translations of the Bible, and that they are not equally valid? They are sometimes significantly different, and some versions of the Bible even include books that are not included elsewhere. Concerning obedience to God's word, we absolutely rely on our Savior, but Jesus Christ Himself taught that our actions are important; for example, in Matthew 7:21, He said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." May I ask you about your beliefs? I know why I believe that the Bible contains God's word, but why do you believe that?
Please explain how the Book of Mormon is God's Word? We are not to add to or take away from Scripture.
Prophets give scripture by nature of receiving revelation from God. You are probably referring to Revelation 22:18-19, which was written by the apostle John. When he wrote in the first century AD, the Bible had not yet been compiled into the single volume we know today. The prophetic writings existed separately. Anyone who read his words at the time would have seen clearly that he was referring to his own written work: the Book of Revelation. Moses said something very similar toward the end of his own writings, in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32, but of course we don't reject everything that follows Deuteronomy. God is free to give His word to people on the Earth any time He wants. John's final written words were these: "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." (John 21:25) Do you really want to know whether the Book of Mormon is also the word of God? Read it for yourself, and pray to God to ask Him directly whether it is. He will answer you through the Holy Ghost, as He has done so for millions of other people.
Hi there, thanks for the opportunity to clarify our beliefs. The Book of Mormon is not a replacement or substitute for the Holy Bible, but a companion to it, and it testifies of Jesus Christ as our Savior. Latter-day Saints believe in an open scriptural canon, which means that there are other books of scripture besides the Bible (such as the Book of Mormon), and that God continues to reveal His word through living prophets. Revelations 22 warns against adding to "the book of this prophecy," or the book of Revelation. Nowhere does the Bible proclaim that all revelations from God would be gathered into a single volume to be forever closed and that no further scriptural revelation could be received. You or others interested can learn more about the Book of Mormon here: ruclips.net/video/nyV61Hh9KdA/видео.html We hope that helps!

In Islam, we believe that there is One God and Jesus is His Messenger who will return during the End Times. However, we believe that revelation ceased after the Final Messenger Mohammad with the Quran. Thanks.
Hi @Imran Khan, thanks for your question. We believe in continuing revelation, meaning that individuals can communicate with God through prayer, and that He communicates with us through the Holy Ghost. While the prophet of God receives revelation and inspiration to guide the Church as a whole, revelation flows at every level, including to the leaders of congregations and to individual families and members. In fact, individual members are expected to seek that kind of divine guidance to help them in their own lives. Members are also expected to prayerfully seek their own “testimony” or conviction of the principles their leaders teach them. I would encourage you to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ, because God is doing great things through His Church.
Believe me. I have investigated the Mormon organization for years. It is diabolically opposed to the truth of the Bible. People of the Old Testament were enslaved to the Law of Moses. They could not be good enough, so Jesus came to free us all from the Law - rules, regulations, sacrifices, things we HAD to DO to be saved. Jesus came to set us free from all of that. FREE!!! Joseph Smith came along and put people back into bondage with all of the duties he and his successive followers have placed on those who follow your man-made teachings. It breaks my heart for your followers - they’re trapped trying to look good, knowing they are not worthy, based on the standards your organization has imposed on them. The TRUTH is that we were all redeemed by the blood of Jesus - there is NOTHING we can do to earn our salvation - it is a gift - you don’t have to do things or have to be “worthy” to receive a free gift of life. Read the book of John without your mormon blinders. You can learn the TRUTH. I am praying for you. For all of you. Do you know who and what Joseph Smith REALLY was? Your records bear it out if you look.
Jay Britton Fisher Hi Jay. My comments were about the short argument, as this may be the only thing a non-believer May see; my comments were intended to address the fact that the authors comments were incomplete. I have investigated your organization for 30 years or more. I know what you believe, and my heart is burdened for the millions who are trapped in the Mormon religion, when they could easily find the true light of Jesus and his unconditional love and freedom from the conditions your organization has put upon its people to perform and to appear “worthy.” My heart yearns for Mormons to actually READ the Bible and to fall in love, head-over-heels in love with Jesus, and TRULY understand who He is for them. The Bible is the most beautiful love story - please don’t be shielded from it. Start with the book of John. It is stunning and beautiful!

Great video! But why skip over "as far as it is translated correctly"? @@ma9081-l4y We use the KJV Bible from the year 1611 that predates the modern Church and modern restored doctrine. Anyone who knows much about the Bible knows that in any given language, there are multiple translations, and not all of them have equal accuracy or value.
This is the one and only true church of Jesus Christ on the earth, and is the gateway to paradise in the spirit world and salvation in heaven after the resurrection.
This is dependent upon one's understanding of what constitutes salvation... all people of all religions will technically be saved in heaven. and all will also be resurrected after death. Usually I like to word things in a way that acknowledges these facts. the LDS church does not have a monopoly on salvation or resurrection, fore all people will gain both of those blessings, no matter their beliefs or character. Many LDS people view salvation as only truly being possible within the Celestial glory. However scripture explicitly says that salvation is a blessing to all who do not actively and unpenitently fight against the Lord. In short anyone who does not become a Son of Perdition will gain salvation, and all who are resurrected to any degree of glory do in fact enjoy a form of salvation.
Where the LDS beliefs exceed those of all other religions is in the realm of differentiating between the glories and levels within heaven and the opportunity for exaltation. Essentially all those who do not openly fight against God, no matter how corrupt or flaw-filled their character may be, will enjoy, at the very least, the level of salvation offered within the Telestial glory. And on top of that, all other religions teach doctrines that will aid any individual adhering to them, to gain the level of salvation offered within the Terrestrial glory. While these are lesser glories to that of the Celestial, they are still glories where salvation is enjoyed. One doesn't have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in order to attain salvation. However, only those with the that very same church can have the opportunity of the level of salvation found within the Celestial glory, or the option for exaltation.
I have found that when people come to understand the differences between what the different religions offer and where those offerings can get us to in the kingdom of God, they are better equipped to make the decision to move forward in their investigation of the church and the added truths it offers to those humbly seeking the Lord, and their own fullest potential.
otherwise known, we may all be saved as it says in another now you know video and we have the full truth, as others still have the truth, just not the full truth.
Some of their articles of faith are in contradiction to the words of God. But for those whom God revealed his words, you can easily spot whats wrong with their articles of faith.

13 Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's core beliefs*
@CactusDesert Furnace For my part, I've been using the full name of the Church for a long time. Recently, more members of the Church of Jesus Christ are concerned about using His name properly instead of omitting it; this follows an admonition from the president of the Church and living prophet, Russell M. Nelson. We want people to know that our faith is centered in Jesus Christ.
Wait what? The principles are undergoing ongoing changes? But it’s the fully restored and most true church on earth?
The restoration is ongoing. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ eagerly listen to the words of the living prophets, and frankly, it's often pretty exciting.
Jay Britton Fisher let me give you a little tip, there are no living prophets. Joseph Smith was a masterful conman and coming from an atheist I must say he did quite a good job of constructing his final con. I’ve always said that at least the Mormons came up with a way to amend their religion, it’s still just as batty as the others but it at least can be rationally justified with a few presuppositions. The Christians have no satisfactory answer for the Bible promoting slavery, the Mormons can just say:
“Oh yea, our head dude who talks to god sometimes just told us God finally said that’s bad. No harm no foul!”
It still doesn’t make it any less crazy, just marginally less illogical after a few generous presuppositions.
@@rizzorizzo2311 God promoted slavery. Really. Huh.
@@rizzorizzo2311 I'll give you a little tip: I don't consider you an authoritative source of truth. God is. So between what you tell me and what He does, I'm going with Him. You can assume that members of the Church of Jesus Christ don't use logic, but you'd be wrong. Frankly, I have no desire to argue with you, and I wonder why you're here in the comments section of a religious video if you don't believe in it.
We believe all that God has revealed, does now reveal and that he will yet reveal many important things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Article of faith 1:9 ( I’m writing from memory so it might have a few errors.)
53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

This is a good video. Short, simple and easy to understand.
You said the Latter Day Saints make the path back to God more clear.
Was God not clear enough for you and the Bible.. ?? Is God the author of confusion now
God is not the author of confusion, but many Christians are confused. Take a look at the many varied Christian denominations and you will find a wide assortment of beliefs and practices, even though they claim to base it all in generally the same scripture. Additional words from prophets most definitely help, and all you need to do to know that for yourself is to read or listen to it for yourself. Jesus Christ gave a warning about false prophets in Matthew 7:15-20, and rather than saying none would be His, He told us how we could know which would be true in verse 20: "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." When you taste the fruits of true prophets in our day, you can know for yourself that they come from God.
Don’t be fooled. If you are an Evangelical Christian Mormons do not mean the same as you do by their teachings. Far from it!! While they are nice people and very upstanding in the community, their doctrines clearly contradict the Teachings of the Holy Bible.

Really , boy are you brain washed
Doug McKay no, the Book of Mormon is a great Musical.
The bible is the living word of God and adding or taking away from it (Rev 22:18-19) is the first sign that Joseph Smith was a false profit. Relying on anything other than the blood of Jesus Christ to go to heaven is a lie from the devil. "You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
And you forget the other end of the same story from God himself ' Behold, the man has become like one of us to know good and evil'
How did God get knowledge of good and evil if he is all holy and righteous and no sin is in him?
People almost always misunderstand the passage in Revelation 22:18-19. It most certainly does not forbid additional scripture, and of course it wouldn't make sense for men to try to close the mouth of God. Do you know how the Bible came to be? I'd be happy to explain a few things to you. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints fully believe that we must rely on the power of Jesus Christ for salvation. 8 But, even if we, or a Malaka {a Messenger/an Angel} from the Shmaya {the Heavens}, should declare unto you outside from that which we have Declared, he will be cursed!

We need examples!!!
What do we believe that isn't in the bible?
When a true angel from God restores the true gospel of Jesus Christ, it's a totally different case. The more applicable Bible passage, concerning the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ, is Revelation 14:6, which reads, "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people". Peter said under the spirit of God repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name,,, ,of jesus christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the holyghost.
Dig deeper and you'll find Mormons believe their god was once a man of flesh and bone, but was a good mormon and now lives on the planet Kolob. Right?
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ do not believe that God the Father was Mormon; Mormon was an ancient prophet that lived around 400 AD. God is God. Digging deep doesn't do anyone any good without understanding and applying the basic principles of the gospel. Even those who are in a position to dig deeper find that what we actually know about some things is pretty limited; we have a few statements here and there about some things, but often they were not official statements. (And detractors love to twist those and make them sound as strange as possible.) Even so, there are doctrines that are supported by scripture that are widely misunderstood and would be surprising to many, many people. Most of the time, instead of digging deep, we should be focusing on seeking and following God's will. Without a solid spiritual foundation we shouldn't presume to understand deeper knowledge, and broadly speaking, we shouldn't expect to learn everything during our mortal lives. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints love to learn deeper truths, but only as long as we are already dedicating ourselves to God and seeking guidance from His Spirit.
Ah but that bit in Article 8 that got skipped over is oh so important to Mormon theology. Why not be proud of it?
Pride isn't a concern. This is intended to be a short video, and discussion about various translations of the Bible can be lengthy.
I almost fell asleep during this video (no offense) but it helped me a lot, thank you :)
Wonderful explanation!
Wow that’s awesome
Thanks to let us know in simplicity ! Gros bisous du QUÉBEC ! XOX
Im new to the LDS religion I understand god and jesus but what is the holy ghost ? is this another being ?
The Holy Ghost is a being of spirit that has never been born to receive a physical body. Because he has no physical body, he is able to dwell within us and he serves as a messenger from God and a witness of divine truths. This is why you'll hear Latter-day Saints say things like, "the spirit was really strong at that meeting." They received a confirmation of what they were hearing during a particular talk or presentation.
People who have become converted to the gospel will often describe a "burning in the bosom" that they felt after studying the gospel and humbly asking Heavenly Father, through prayer, whether the the Church is true, if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and whether the Book of Mormon contains the true word of God.
Good question! The Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit as it is sometimes called, is one member of the Godhead. The Spirit is separate from God and Jesus, but They are unified in purpose. The Holy Ghost helps us understand right from wrong, comforts us in sadness, and helps us come to know God and His Son. You can learn more about the Holy Ghost here: www.mormon.org/site/god/what-is-the-holy-spirit
How is it possible to exist before birth, birth is a starting point of life
Hi @heather nation, thanks for your great question. We believe we are spirit children of Heavenly Parents who love us. We once lived in the presence of God, our life has purpose and meaning, and there is life after death. To learn more, watch "What Is The Purpose and Meaning of Life?" at the link below: ruclips.net/video/t9iYqKk00Bc/видео.html
Our spirits existed before birth. Birth is the starting point of our mortal lives, but we lived as spirit children of God, with Him, before coming to Earth.
How is it possible that we will exist after death? Death is the end of life right?
How do you reconcile with the Bible verse that command us not to add any words to the Scriptures?
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar. Proverbs 20:5-6
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you. Deuteronomy 4:2
For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:24
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-9
Hi Katerina, thanks for your question. The Book of Mormon is not a replacement or substitute for the Holy Bible, but a companion to it, and it testifies of Jesus Christ as our Savior. Latter-day Saints believe in an open scriptural canon, which means that there are other books of scripture besides the Bible (such as the Book of Mormon) and that God continues to reveal His word through living prophets. Revelations 22 warns against adding to "the book of this prophecy," or the book of Revelation. The other scriptures you mention offer similar warnings. Nowhere does the Bible proclaim that all revelations from God would be gathered into a single volume to be forever closed and that no further scriptural revelation could be received. Have you read the Book of Mormon? We know that the honest seeker of truth can read the Book of Mormon and ask God to know for themselves if it is true. You or others interested can learn more about the Book of Mormon here: ruclips.net/video/nyV61Hh9KdA/видео.html We hope that helps!
Katerina, be sure to understand the context for these passages. If no one was supposed to receive more of God's word after Moses' writings in Deuteronomy, we wouldn't be able to accept anything that followed--including the books of Proverbs, Matthew, and Galatians that you have quoted. Individual prophets occasionally gave warning not to add to what they themselves wrote down, but God is free to speak any time He desires. When he does so through a prophet and that prophet gives His word to the world, it's a good thing, no matter how much revelation God has already given in the past. I would encourage you to read the Book of Mormon for yourself and then pray to ask God for yourself about it. You will find that it is from God, that it contains the true gospel that you know from Biblical study, that it helps you learn truth, and that it helps you to draw closer to the Savior, Jesus Christ.
What's with the 8 article?
That is a core LDS belief. The Bible is the word of God, but proper translation is important. The original Bible text was in three languages primarily, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Mormonism is a distinctly American religion, so English is the base language for the core of it's original core membership. Joseph Smith apparently was somewhat familiar with German and believed the Gutenberg Bible to be the most accurate, but the KJV, the most accurate English version. Realize he died in 1844, so there were Not as many versions as today.
Martin Luther. The Roman Catholic Church used to control all printings and readings of the bible; only priests knew. This way they could keep the common people under their control and they had to be believed. With the printing press comes many, many printings of the bible and everyone could read. Anyone could translate. And so with the newfound freedom of interpretation and religion many different versions and interpretations exist of the bible, each saying something a little different. #8 is just saying that whatever translation aligns with the original text is the correct one but that's really hard to find out so the line gets very very blurry.
The Bible was literally voted on by a group of men in the 4th century. Thisis why there are so many versions of the Bible. We believe that the King James version is the most accurate and use it during our church meeting frequently.
I thought we weren't supposed to use "Mormon" anymore tho
More accurately, we should make sure to use the proper name of the Church and emphasize the importance of Jesus Christ both in the name of the Church and in our personal faith. This has actually always been the case, but President Nelson has felt it important to remind us and encourage us strongly.
Lol
Erich Streuber You are not a follower of Jesus. Jesus would not have said “ You are so unintelligent” You need to be rooted and grounded in Love. “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
Erich Streuber Mormons believe they can become gods one day. Mormons believe there is a heavenly father and a heavenly mother. But that is false doctrine. The Mormon Bible is a fake Bible. The Holy Bible should be your only reference point of how to be Christlike.
@@davidbswank I agree that Mr. Streuber was not loving in his comments. I'll correct you, though, that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints use the King James Version of the Bible, as you can see here: churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures . When it comes to our beliefs, you'd do better to inquire about them from the people who actually believe them, rather than attempt to speak for them with limited understanding.
You lost me at the Nicean Trinity...
Is that a concept you believe in, or disbelieve? It's not what is taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
WHY DONT YOU TELL US ALL THE ARICLES OF FAITH??
Thanks for your question, Philip. This video is a brief summary of some of the key tenants of our faith. To read all 13 Articles of Faith, see the link below: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/topics/articles-of-faith?lang=eng

Good video. Maybe future videos could be made which list the Articles of Faith in order or give more details about what each article means.
Thanks for sharing your feedback, @Hamann9631!
They are pretty straight forward and you can find them easily
Rev. 22
That's a very brief comment, but (based on other conversations I've had with concerned Christians) I'll assume that your referring to some of the last verses that discuss the warning about adding to or taking away things from "this book". Did you know that the Bible did not exist in its current form when John wrote that? Thus, he was referring to the book that we know as the Revelation of John, the final book in our modern Bible. Interestingly, Moses said the same thing much earlier in the book of Deuteronomy, but of course, we don't reject all of the scripture that followed.
Hopefully that clears that up for you. There are wonderful truths to know in our day, and I encourage you to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jay Britton Fisher The Bible was finalized in its current form in the 5th century. You are extremely misinformed.
@@butwere3-0wou "5th century" sounds roughly correct. That means that John wrote his Revelation several hundred years before the Bible was compiled. On what point do you think I'm misinformed?
Jay Britton Fisher go worship Joseph smith u idolater
@@MonkeyDLuffy-py9un I have no intention of worshipping any man, even if he is a prophet. I worship God. I don't know why you would accuse me of idolatry, especially given that you don't know me at all. May I ask you about your beliefs?
Interesting how the articles are not read entirely.
It's a summary. You can find them in their entirety at ChurchOfJesusChrist.org/study/scriptures/pgp/a-of-f/1.
Are LDS born again?
Thanks for your thoughtful question. We believe being born again is a process that begins when we are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. We enter into a covenant with our Savior and take upon us His name, promising to keep His commandments and follow His example throughout our lives. You can learn more here: www.comeuntochrist.org/articles/baptism?cid=42001274 We hope that answers your question!
Yes. Being reborn through Jesus Christ is an essential part of our religion; it's why we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ. We don't view our spiritual progress as a single event, though; we commit to following Christ and make it a lifelong effort.
Great
I am at sinner ?????!!!!!!!!
These are my beliefs!
i'm sorry
heard of the apostle's creed?
yeah, this is plagiarism at best
You need to look deeper in other faiths out there. I am a Catholic and we have many ex-Mormons crossing over. We honor the Body and Blood of Christ, not a piece of bread and a little shot of water. We do exactly what Christ did at his last supper and what he said. The Mormon church is brain washing a lot of you
@@vinicpmhirsch6350 You seem uninformed. Would you like to hear more about the Church of Jesus Christ?
@@dougmckay2915 You clearly do not understand the practices of the Church of Jesus Christ. I could explain for you why we partake of the bread and water, and why Christ taught us to do so, but if you're only here to be argumentative, I'll suggest that it won't help anyone.
@@dougmckay2915 We definitely don't need to look "deeper in other faiths out there." We do our best to follow Christ, not just the example He set in the Bible and what He taught then, but we also follow Him now. All other churches are dead, they follow their traditions and interpretations of the Bible... We follow the living Christ and His living prophets and Apostles.
