Godzilla fought 2 Mutos, Rodan, King Ghidorah while Kong only fought a Skullcrawler on skull Island Godzilla been putting in more work out here in these streetz!! It's only right Godzilla Win!!!
@2KILLAVILLE I think the movie makes it pretty clear that Kong was swinging above his weight class most of the time. Really the only time Kong DIDN'T have his back to the wall was round 2 when he had his ax, but once that was taken out of the equation it was a pretty definitive W for Goji.

The whole Hong Kong fight just FEELS like that old NeoGeo fighting game King of the Monsters to me. It's my favorite Monsterverse fight.

That was some bullshit too. Gidorah stomped that ass twice even when Godzilla had Mothra and the damn army on his side. Then Godzilla gets some bs powerup out of nowhere and is suddenly invincible. Gidorah is the true God, Godzilla is just a bitch ass Mary Sue.

FUN FACT: Godzilla arrived to fight Kong at sundown, and they only stopped AFTER sunrise to fight Mechagodzilla, which means Godzilla and Kong fought their knockdown drag-out grappling match for a solid 8-10 hours (with no breaks) before the robot showed up. Talk about a long fight. Its no wonder both seemed like easy pickings for that glorified tincan.
Well, there was a moment where they both were on the ground KO'd. Maybe more time has passed during that then we realize

The thing about Skull island is king kong actually fought a titan that was able to change the weather and Kong killed it. But as a result, the creature didn't reverse the effect of the storm. So is perpetually in constant rain, which killed a lot. Almost all the species on the island including the humans, there. And she is the last of her people on skull island.
Godzilla is cool but Kong is charismatic. He seems fun to hang with

They dont explain it well during the film, but they managed to dome Kong because most of the island sank back underwater, hence why the girl is the last of her tribe.

It didn't sink, in the comic "Kingdom Kong" the bat Titan Camazotz brought one of the remnants of Ghidorah's superstorms to Skull Island and it merged with the storms that surround the island, creating a permanent storm that covered the entire island so Camazotz could emerge and kill Kong to rule over Skull Island. Kong and the military defeated Camazotz and sent him back to Hollow Earth, but the storm wiped out all but one of the natives and nearly all animal life. Monarch built the containment facility to protect Kong until they could figure out what to do.

A couple of fun facts:
Mechagodzilla was being controlled by the remnants of Ghidorah. When the Hollow Earth energy is loading into it, you can actually hear Ghidorah's roar/laugh. That also explains why he went straight for Godzilla and was taking his time beating him down: He wanted revenge for what happened in KotM.
The reason Mecha G was curbstomping Godzilla so bad was because Godzilla was completely exhausted by the time they fought. He literally blasted a hole all the way to Hollow Earth and then fought Kong literally all night (it was dark when they were fighting and day when he fought Mechagodzilla). Probably would've been a pretty different story if it was a fresh Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. And if Godzilla and Kong had both been fresh during that 2v1 it would've been no contest
I've been a Godzilla fan since I was a little kid, so I was happy to see him take the W in the end on this one. But credit where it's due: Kong put up a hell of a fight and came in clutch against Mechagodzilla. I also love how charismatic and emotive the Monsterverse version of Kong is, so happy to see he gets to go be king in his own place down in Hollow Earth.
25:42 That goofy guy is Doug. Despite how little screentime he got he quickly became a fan favorite, to the point where Legendary made the fan name "Doug" official, and to help give hype to GxK said he would be in the movie.

Godzilla won 2-1 but he was tired asf after fighting Kong thats why he was getting beat by Mecha. The director said if Godzilla was 100% he would’ve smoked mechagodzilla no problem.
This movie sacrificed all sense of scale. Camera angles are like a WWE match. Monsters move way too quickly. The slower, towering stature of Godzilla in the previous movies (especially 2014) is much preferred.
If you think Godzilla cheated, then don't even think about how BUFFED Kong was in this. Bro got an axe made of a Godzilla spine, got huge arms, got revived and an army with him and he still lost.
Also never underestimate a lizard's speed
King Ghidorah killed the pilot and neurologically took over Mecha Godzilla. Some of his brain activity was still functional, hence why it started killing indiscriminately.

Godzilla had to gt a jump-start because humans keep interfering. Hw was beating ghidora in the water till they tried to kill him with the oxygen destroyer.. kong got wrecked and had to be saved while thw humans were always trying to save him. They are not the same. Team godzilla 4 live

The Asian pilot is the son of the doctor that died for Godzilla to bring him back in King of the Monsters to fight Ghidorah.
They didn't iron the story out very well but the Asian pilot who thought he was in control of Mechagodzilla blamed Godzilla for his father's death. -OG

You know technically Titans are not even the bad guys, most titans are considered to be protectors even some of Godzilla's enemies weren't even bad guys lol

My first time seeing this film, I came in like I have been for LIFE ... TEAM GODZILLA. HOWEVER ... this film made me root for Kong. I still do. I had NEVER liked Kong, EVER. Not ever. But this film? Made me a believer. And now, I DEFINITELY have to bite the bullet and watch Kong: Skull Island. I literally wasn't interested AT ALL until Godzilla vs. Kong. I LIKE this Kong. He can make friends and communicate. And he's such a cool underdog to root for--one who fight like a PRIMATE ... making and tools, and using his brain! Godzilla is great--and OP. No matter the film. No one beats Godzilla ... well, no one beats him permanently. Like Serizawa said, he's the key to co-existence. But I think Kong kind of is, too. There can't be just an alpha predator ruling the world. There needs to be an alpha protector, too. Kong fought because his friend asked him to. And because it was the right thing, ultimately. I'm down for that and for a Kong who's smart enough to reason that out. This Kong makes me proud to be a primate!
I have to watch Skull Island now--not just for more Kong but so I can watch your review of it!
Also, I note that Kong severed Mechagodzilla's head. Didn't crush the skull that was partly powering Mechagodzilla. So, at least one of the Ghidorah-skulls, with its psionic capabilities, is still whole. The one from which Serizawa's son was piloting, before Mechagodzilla fried him, MIGHT have been at least partially destroyed while Mechagodzilla was breaking free, buuuuut....
Even if the piloting-skull was partially destroyed, King Ghidorah was a hydra--THE hydra. Regeneration was his game. So, this might not be the last we see of Mechagodzilla (King Ghidorah). Mechagodzilla's mind/programming was, after all, connected to a server with probably at least one remote backup system. Simmons was crazy but not stupid. I know he had backups of backups.

Actually Godzilla weighs about 100,000 TONS in this movie. So....over a MILLION pounds. One of his toes might weigh 35,000 lbs. King Kong is not much lighter. I like Godzilla sparing Kong. Godzilla ain't stupid. He can tell the difference between a good monster who is just being a pain in his ass and a monster like Ghidora that needs to just be straight up deleted no questions asked. It's funny how Kong would have died if Godzilla hadn't charged his weapon (again....SMART) and Godzilla would have MAYBE died if King Kong hadn't helped. I mean....Godzilla can survive a nuke to the face and from Ghidora dropping him from thousands of feet in the stratosphere and his body slamming back into the ground like an asteroid. If he can survive that...can Mecha-Godzilla kill him? Keep him down long enough to subdue him maybe but Godzilla also heals almost like Wolverine. He was definitely giving it his best shot though try to blast him in the mouth. That's about as good a plan as any..
Hope you liked this one. Godzilla x Kong is even better. I kinda hope you forgo a reaction to that and just see it in theaters. Maybe do a review.

Great reaction, J! Glad you enjoyed the film. While Godzilla is one of my all time favorites, like you I'm a gorilla fan, so Kong is my guy. I was not a fan of this film when it first came out, but watching along with you made it better than I remember it. Part of that is because it's great to watch films along with you, and part is because most of the stupid humans were edited out. Afterwards, I sat back and watched both versions (American and Japanese) of the original King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962). Blank needs to let you react to that film soon; it's a hoot! Keep up the good work guys!

and mecha godzilla had one uped godzilla cause he's been built to counteract godzilla. and godzilla never fought himself, and he was already tuckered out to some extent.
100% godzilla got humbled and probably worked on his downsides even more cause of it.

Dude, it is absolutely fun watching these movies with you,..when you said Godzilla was being dragged around like his name wasn't in the title of the movie,..lol hilarity,..and ohh was it a throw down, and no Godzilla don't roll up to just say hey,..he's all about business,..I also love that scene when Kong sits on that like throne,..with his mighty axe,..when I first saw this, and every time I see that scene it just so reminds me of Conan The Barbarian, when Conan sits on a throne chair, wearing his furs, the crown and his sword, it's a mighty scene, that pic of Kong on the throne with the axe should be on a t-shirt, we can debate who's the king Kong or Godzilla, but Kong on that throne is definitely boss,..and yeah Madison should be on punishment, at her age I was on lockdown just for winking at a boy,..much less stealing a friend's brother's van, hoping on a interdimentional craft traveling through the planet to the other side of the planet,..her dad just took a flight to Hong Kong probably in coach,..this is such a fun movie, aside from the badass fights, the humor, and campy fun, make it so enjoyable, so very loved watching this with you, your campy banter is such an added plus,..do keep going, Godspeed, Peace ✌
Speaking of how they move, that’s one thing that makes Pacific Rim so good. You really feel the weight of everything. Don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying the monsterverse but if they’d applied PR weight to the speed every hit would be just that little bit more impactful.
