This song makes me feel both very old and eternally young all at once.
Same here
Triple same here. was 20 when this song came out and I wore out the actual CD (yes that could happen).
Hmm likely story 😶🌫️
Sounds like something a vampire would say. 😉
@@ericabanten221 Yeah, that's total vampire stuff right there!
This is literally the first time i have ever heard this song! Im 60 years old. So down the Concrete Blonde rabbit hole i gooo...🤟🤟🤟
It's a WORTHWHILE journey.
First time for me and my neighbours. I'm 74. What more have I missed?
Thank you first time for me was 35 lol life is a funny joke
Enjoy the trip. Don't forget to come back.
I'm 64 and the first time I heard it I was 44, shopping at the mall, I bought lots of black clothes haha
I was 15, at a party, sat in the kitchen with the coolest lad there and he put this cassette on and we just talked and chilled for hours. Still love this album.
General description of how most of us encounter these gems
That's a good memory right there. 🍻
Best all round album I’ve ever listened to
I miss you Dawn
Sounds very familiar... Sarah? It's me. The coolest lad... anywhere... everywhere.
Heard this in the dungeon in New Orleans and it was awesome. I was pretty wrecked and it hit all the right feels
How cool is that !!! Way cool
Hope to experience it someday
Ahh! The Dungeon.
Open at midnight close at 9:00Am and the best sound system ever.
If, you could find it.
@@capecoraltrans Well I mean dungeons aren't easy to find...sorry, someone had to say it!
Just experienced that place a few weeks ago, good stuff!
One of my best friends, a long haired blonde guy named Kurt Shilling, turned me on to this song in the mid- nineties. Kurt died in a motorcycle crash, down by a lake, not concentrating because he had a bad situation with a girl heavy on his mind.😢💔 It was the same day that Princess Di died in a car chase in Paris. I was so devastated that I had no idea she'd died until many weeks later. That was over twenty- seven years ago now....& I think about him & miss him regularly. He was only thirty- three years old. I love you, man.
One of the greatest albums of it's time. Her voice is unreal
I remember at the end of '90, Jon Bon Jovi, when asked of his favorite albums for 1990, he said that _Bloodlettting_ was the best album of the year. I already knew that because I had followed CB since their eponymous debut in '86, but it gave me newfound respect for JBJ. It's criminal the band's not well known today. Everyone just wants to hear _Joey._
I really love “Jonestown” too. There’s no “skips” from them!
I loved every song but Joey, would always skip it from the radio wearing it out. Just wasnt who they were to me.
Went to New Orleans the next year too!
This is my favorite Concrete Blonde song. I play it every Halloween, if not more often.
No one cares about Joey anymore. He's on his 1300th stint in rehab by now.
@@PatClevenger0709 I play the entire album every Halloween! Joey used to be one of my favorites back in the day, but after living with an addict these past three years I can't hear it without getting emotional.
The most underrated band of all of our lifetime. There will never be a band that should have been huge that wasnt as this band. I got to meet Johnette and Jim and they are two of the most awesome people you could ever meet in your lifetime.
Cult
I agree
Bang Tango was another one
Toadies as well
I was reading an interview with Dwight Yoakum in the Rolling Stone, years ago, and when they asked him what he was currently listening to, he said Concrete Blonde, “Bloodletting “. I picked it up not long after, and ended up grabbing all of her previous albums, and was hooked ever since.
After all these decades, Concrete Blonde is still one of my favorite bands.
Basically the BEST DAMN FEMALE FRONTED BAND EVER....one of my muses and biggest musical infuluences... I couldn't imagine not having her voice in my life
The definition of underrated. She’s like a pirate leading a sea shanty
ummm no.....if for no other reason than Ann Wilson. and then Siouxsie Sioux...then Shirley Manson...
@@tstantonjr oh..I agree..but her voice is one that influenced me.
@@wraithgirl2156 i didn't think you could change my mind, but you did....goodness on you.
Saw them open for Sting in like 1990 or so. They were f****g awesome! Much better than Sting.
Its not fall until Johnette sings to me. Best female vocals ever. Love you woman
The first time I ever heard this song was at the old Pink Pussy Cat gentleman's club in Knoxville Tennessee on my buddy Snake's 18th birthday!!! A lady came out in a red cape dressed as a vampiress and proceeded to dance and take her clothes off!!! What a memory. RIP Snake.
I had a very similar experience. My first trip to a strip club was in San Juan when I was 18, and one chick came out to a strobe light with Di Hast playing. Mind = blown.
One of my favorite bands of all time. Johnette absolutely rocks!
Johnette Forever :) Awesome Band.
The fact that Concrete Blonde is still not in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame is a travesty
Started rewatching beavis and butthead and this song came on. I can't figure out how the algorithm never put these fine folks on my lists
The passing of Anne Rice brought me here this evening. Still one of my all-time favorite albums.
Johnette Napolitano is in my top 5 singers of all time. I say her name and people don't know who she is. That is a crime. She should be better known than Cardi B.
Bloodletting, Joey and Song number 10…Tomorrow Wendy! This CD stayed in my rotation along with Peter Murphy, Echo and the Bunnymen, R.E.M., Depeche, Live, etc.
I’m very late to the game on this band. They went noticed by MTV and the cool kids in 1990. I was 9 and 10 at the time and my parents forbade MTV to be shown in my house. So I missed out on one the best but practically unnoticed bands of the 1980s and 1990s. But RUclips exists now and I’m on board until I leave this planet altogether. Great, awesome, fantastic band.
Takes me back to 1990 takes me back to my Goth day's 🦇🦇🦇🦇🖤💜🖤💜 miss it Hollywood day's 🤘🎸 when music ruled 💯💯💯
Yup. ❤❤ And seeing them perform
One of the sexiest baselines ever .. fantastic drums... A fantastic spooky song
She needs to be in the rock Hall of Fame!
They needed to have done more like this album. 🍻
No bullshit! NOBODY KNOWS
@@keithkruse69 lol..Exactly!!
Concrete Blonde.....Hardcore as it gets.....Johnette voice and bass guitar.....this girl gets your blood pumping.....
Love her voice
Saw them at Rutgers, New Brunswick, NJ awsome back in 90's!
Girls in black corsets and leather...the aroma of Clove cigarettes and Wild Turkey...this
song blasting outta the boom
box on the wall.
Back in the days when we ruled it all...
From south Louisiana, I love this ish!! Grew up on it and still dig it!!
From Vernon Parish currently living in Texas and loving this song
this shoulda been used in True Blood!!!!
Been saying it for over a decade
@@jeffreyjulian7657 nice
They did in one episode.
It should have been in Interview with the Vampire, which takes place in New Orleans a lot
I have found them all over again through a friend. My ears have never heard anything so sonically appealing once again!! All the pop stars and Internet sensations with there empty souls could never even come close to this band and this Woman!!
This album is really one of the best of the era, and imo of all time. And Johnette is a voice for the ages. I saw them once at the New Daisy some time around this album or the next, and I was enthralled. The opening act was a great band called The Oblivious, fronted by a female singer named Holly Vincent, who later recorded Vowel Movement with Johnette. Just saying this for the new kids. I know the faithful know. "Everybody Knows"
Bonus factoid: There was a line in the album lyric that did not match the one recorded. iirc it was the beginning of the last verse, but I no longer remember how it read. Maybe someone else knows...
Holly & the Italians Vincent gave us the classic 'Tell That Girl to Shut Up' that the later 'blonde brigade' Brit group Transvision Vamp had a hit with. I never knew of the Oblivious! I noticed 'Tell..' was recorded in 1979; makes one feel really old! My favorite non CB tune by Johnette was 'Ride' by Pretty & Twisted!
This was a great album
I was listening to blitzkid and my dad said this is a cover by concrete blonde and now I’m addicted yo concrete blond more than I am blitzkid
One my 7 year old grand daughters favorite songs and I agree with her 🙃🙂
Its the theme song of the Interview with the vampire basically❤️
A thousand mortal lives I have lived and this one still gets me feelin long in the tooth.
The best vampire song ever!
Wow blast from the past here, haven't heard this song since the 90s
My driven instructor was playing song when I was getting my license back in the 90s. So cool.
Tiny Tim played a badass solo. The chorus effect really made it more spooky! I love this!
love that voice
Used to dance my heart out to this in the early 90s.
One of the best songs ever.
If Anne Rice had a soundtrack...
This song is my new favorite. Vampire love. This band is really amazing
I made a cool lyric video for the song ruclips.net/video/rJdU0blCLMs/видео.html
May 1st 2022 ....I still love this whole album
I always loved CB their songs always told a story ... and it was so cool to sing along to.
Yes eternally
I effin' love this band
I believe great music was being produced for decades and got really good and ended in the 90s. The world hasn’t been the same since, it’s like something has stolen everyone’s souls
The 90s ruined everything. I remember as a youth actually crying while watching Never Being Boring by the Pet Shop Boys. That video (for me) set the tone of the 90s: sex and sensationalism. So depressing.
I think the end of the Cold War with Russia made everybody start feeling hopeful again and even though a lot of the music was dark it was kind of about survival. It feels like now people are feeling hopeless for other reasons and their trying to white-wash it with bubble-gum girl-pop to hide the fear. I still find bands here and there that evoke emotions I enjoy though. Pink for instance has a sarcasm to her lyrics that make me laugh. :)
I believe you've been filled by the extending arm of polyoply and need to maybe find good venues and street art where plenty of good music exists and thrives. If your just searching the internet and radio than your going to find yourself with more of the soulless subject material
@@derinaries That's how I feel, although I largely feel it's MTV and the RIAA's fault. They pushed alternative bands so hard to bulldoze over various talented bands, only for a lot of those to drop off the face the earth. Hell, while there were good bands they also pushed forgettable, no talented hacks to the forefront as well who couldn't sing.
Some how, MTV has it stuck in their minds to produce nothing but low class, reality Tv shows even when it's been exposed that a lot of stuff was staged.
They said they were going to change things, but I have yet to see it. I wish it would go back to being music television, with animated series and comedy shows like they used to have.
That would be because crap music took over...
I think I just found my new favorite song. I heard this on public radio at 8:23 am on the Fri before Halloween. I've been up all night, so what?🤷🍄🤘
Love it. Love Concrete Blonde
The absolute best 90s female band 🔥
Gawd I miss music like this
Just heard this for the first time at a haunted house tonight. Shazamed it just in time, and I’m super thankful I did.
The perfect Halloween song
I love the song and the baseline is so cool !
Love this song, but I'm really surprised they didn't use this for the True Blood theme song, the lyrics theme and mood of this song works perfectly with that show.
My friends father introduced me to this song a couple of years ago I'm now 21 and still think about this song whenever I hear bloodletting brought up in any conversation.
I went back 30 years for my workout music.
Wicked!
i came across this song on music choice sound of the seasons i love it
2023 and always.... 🎃🖤
00:01 Allright , ..lets rock
Timeless album......
I've got this on my Spotify list , never get tired of it .
I was watching THE GREAT on Hulu and heard this band for the first time. I’m 58 years old. How did this band slip by me?
One of my very favorites.
Love it
What a voice
First heard this song in the 90s. I was hooked
The solo is HEAVENLY
I have listened the liveversion of this song .I find that version better because of the guitarsound that's much more creepier .🎸🎸 and the fantastic voice of johnette
Bar le Arlequin, Québec, fin des années quatre -vingt dix, the good old days!
I didn't put it together until just a few minutes ago, but Rob zombie straight up jacked this riff for his song house of 1000 corpses
terrific!
God i played Concrete Blonde on heavy repeat back in the day. I always assumed this was an homage to Anne Rice's Lestat since they mention New Orleans.
My 1 favourite song all year long
I lost my shit when they used this classic Concrete Blonde song in "Jakob's Wife". The perfect song to accompany an awesome scene.
This song is so cool :D
Awesome band with Johnette at the front! ✌️
Radi chick rock I I totally forgot about this great song! Thanks for putting it up to give it some life 😜🧡👻😻😻😻😻😻😻💙💜💚💛🧡❤💜💚💛🧡💙💜🖤🤍🧡💚💚💙🤍🖤❤🖤🤍🖤❤🤍🖤❤🤍🖤❤
Ways and means ,,, to New Orleans .
I had that in late 2008 .
Was one of the best experiences of my life ;)
Driving over the sunshine bridge with the sun in my face & a dirty windshield .
It don't get no better for building character .
Oh you were a vampire and baby I'm the walking dead.....such a amazing song. Forever will love it.
I’ve known this song most of my life but never saw the video until today. Wow.
Mmmm those pipes!!! One of the best female vocalists ever! I try to sing a long with her, my throat is always sore when Im done 😂
Mine too!! Lol
This is my happy place (for now)
So I guess it would have been around 1990, we were having a Halloween party, my good friend says his sisters boyfriend has an album he doesn't like and wants to trade, I say ok , just bought a cd I don't like, I put this on when he gets there and it def blew me away, especially being a Halloween party , it suited the night, but after letting the whole CD play at least 4 times I was told to change the music lol, so the next day I put on the walkman and listened to it all day, and I still love it to this day..
I requested CB on KTLA for their Playlist section …they played a bit of Bloodletting and Caroline ❤❤ along with my Patti Smith request😀
Heard this song at the end of, night of the demons.good song.
Lee Pfalzgraf taught several dancers to dance to the music
Such a beautiful song
Such a fitting song in these days.
Criminally Underrated!
No início dos anos 90, escutei essa música em um filme de surf.
Desde daquele dia, eu escuto Concrete Blonde como se fosse Surf music
[ 🕯️🦇🌹Rest in Peace, Anne Rice🌹🦇🕯️ ]
Queen of the damned, Interview of a vampire….
FCKING AWESOME SONG and Concrete Blonde is fcking TIMELESS
this is THE most underrated band ever, so talented, lyrics, voice, guitarwork, drums, excellent musicianship/creativity, loved them since my early punk days w/ 'Still in Hollywood'
❤.
Great song
Love the moody atmosphere of this song. The whole album is great
