The movie is just filmed so dark that it completely bogs it down to unwatchable. Which makes this one of the biggest crimes in cinema history
Its actually not unwatchable..I think the complaint of darkness is overblown to be honest..Some of the cutting is a litte haphazard but I found AVP:R superior to the first AVP movie..I found the cliched characters in this one far more relatable to the first AVP characters..and...despite being lower budget, the set up of the whole city in disarray made the stakes feel way higher..honestly, AVPR is underrated..

This movie will always hold a special place in my heart for the practicality of it, something that was sorely lacking in Alien Covenant. From an effects standpoint, I think this one has the cleanest looking ones in the franchise.
Predalien is one of the main strongest aliens that wolf has ever faced and wolf didnt care how big predalien was he still taking it like a real elite ranked warrior
Wolf is to this day a true boss amongst the Yautja. Definitely can see the age and experience that comes with it, every blow he strikes counts, every action he takes was probably calculated several times over beforehand, and there's a certain finesse to the way he fights. Of course, his Yautja pride and instincts got the better of him in the end, finally finding a worthy opponent that he could just go full beast mode against, and it cost him his life. But given the Yautja and their culture, I think that was also on purpose, as Wolf probably decided that this is a good and honorable way to die. His mission was complete, the fallen young Yautja were avenged, and he was going to take the Predalien down with him anyway, so might as well just go out like a true warrior and sate his thirst for an honorable battle.
Wolf was the best Predator. The way he went about his business throughout the entire movie with full focus and no nonsense and just handled everything like a damn professional and didn't back down from anything or hinder for even a minute. He embodied what makes the Predators such legendary creatures and characters of cinema. It was just so unfortunate that everything else in the movie except for him was trash...
@@khornesupreme I thought he saw the recording of Predalien when he received the SOS. Do you mean like not knowing what a "predalien" is because it's new or not knowing that it's "a predalien" that was behind all of it?
@@Jamesfoofighter Supposedly this was to scare people away, which shows that, as experienced as Wolf is, he has little understanding of the Human nature.
By far. The "Alien vs Predator" title suggests that its going to be a legendary battle, then this SOB arrives and kills xenomorphs like they were ants. He's way above anything we've seen in the movies, including the stupid giant predators. I hate to admit it, but not even Dutch could keep up with him.
In their society, the sanctity of the hunt is their currency in a way. It's also important to keep in mind that predator gear is watching at all times, meaning even if he's alone and does something wrong, he's basically got a body cam on him at all times. So that even further emboldens him to be honorable, even if he dies, as they will still have a record of what he did. Act unhonorable though, and they will know that too, destroying his entire legacy. That puts into perspective a big thing about their society.
@@peoplez129 great explaining! They always accountable. I read even greyback was bothered by city hunter's subway slaughter. Thankfully Wolf is sensible.
I like how the fight between the Wolf Predator and the Pred-Alien is a Draw, indicating that they are Equally matched! Its too bad the Filmmakers didn't have a bigger budget to extend this fight scene and make it more dynamic. I bet they had a lot of ideas and animatic details previsualized too!
Equally matched my ass. Wolf was a Professional Hunter. He mowed down a shit of Aliens. Then took the Abomination to the cleaners..He went out like a boss..He even knew the Humans were going to nuke the place anyways..As he wasn't going back home..
A predator and a xenomorph can never be equally matched.. one of them is a physically perfect warrior with actual intelligence.. the other one on the other hand is nothing but an oversized insect at best.. a grossly overestimated, mindless creature..
No doubt Wolf will be forever remembered as one of the greatest Yautja in his species' history. Wolf knew he was finished so he took down the abomination with nothing but his training and his wits.
Wolf and Scar are my favorites from any of the movies. Scar would have grown to be so strong if he wasn't killed by a literal QUEEN of xenomorphs. He was only a rookie at that point and managed to help kill a queen with the help of the lady
Good thing there wasn't a group of elder Predators cloaked in the background watching the fight like usual. Would have been a bit of a shock for them when the nuke went off
@@winterspirit3734 that was straight up right through his entire chest area. That wasn't no needle poke. Doubt he could have been able to walk away from that.
@MrRepoman197 of course not but his point was who died or got incapacitated first, id say predalien lost this fight, wolf did significant amount of damage due to it being a headshot unlike predalien only stabbing wolf on the torao
This has to be the coolest unmasking scene since the original Predator, without being a carbon copy. Jungle Hunter had won, he just wanted a grand finale to his hunt. He fights Dutch as an equal. Wolf is at the end of the line, his mission failed, his wrist bomb destroyed, no way to win and no way out. Wolf is by far the strongest Predator we’ve seen on screen (would have absolutely smoked Berserker and that trio). He faces the Pred/Alien Abomination with nothing left but muscle, wits, and honor. The whole movie builds up to this moment. We see Wolf utterly wreck the town and the Xenomorphs with his gadgets, but the Abomination keeps getting the edge on him. Once he is out of tools, he strips down to his most primal state, roaring like a wild animal in the rain. It’s then, and only then, that he finds a way to beat the Abomination, crippling it and dealing a killing blow. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if 90% of the writing effort went into this encounter and the buildup.
His mission didn't fail though. He blew up the ship so the humans couldn't get their eguipment and tech and the because of the nuke every xeno died. Yes he died too but he still cleared the job
@@Mr_Business2433 His mission failed. It was suppose to be a clean job. No one was suppose to know about the Xenos existence. Wolf also made matters worst by causing a blackout which alerted everyone, and made it easier for Xenos to blend in. Not to mention, he also disgraced himself even further by allowing Predator tech to get in the hands of humans. Yeah, I would definitely say he failed his mission. BIG TIME! Even if he was still the best thing about this movie.
Imagine how quickly this would have been over if they sent the typical 3 man squad, but all the skill level of wolf. The whole movie would’ve been a RUclips short on how to dissolve a mass grave of xenomorphs.
He knows one of his weakness. Most Xenomorph have weakness on their inner jaw, once their inner jaw got pulled off/destroyed, they can't regenerate one.
@@jaredruff9823 Make sense, because their innerjaw was one of their important things. If they lose their innerjaws, they can't regenerate the new ones. Uniquely, the Xenomorph can regrow its detached legs and arms much like Axoloty behavior. Also, Chet the Predalien on these movie, was indeed a Royal Guard/Praetorian. I have a theory, if this Predalien manages to recreate her nest, he might becomes the new Queen by cocooning himself inside of resin and begin to transgender its sex.
There's a theory that the Xenos born from the Predalien don't carry acid blood but the same type of green blood the Predator has...or simply the heavy rain diluted the strength of the acid.
Easily the most athletic and formidable Predator to grace the screen. Not the best movie in the franchise by a long stretch, but Wolf remains my favorite Predator of all time!
Idk which clan or how you've come to know he's name but that Predator is seriously badass. He knows how to set Traps Baits Track & Watch his 6. He went toe to toe with Predalien & killed half of it's colony alone. He even saved those guys twice before they just left him. He deserved better. R.I.P. You're Worthy
I can't remember fully how they came up with his name Wolf but the clan he comes from is the elite clan, which in their system is ranked underneath elders and ancients. Basically some of the best warriors before they get to the rankings where you get more retirees. Plus by this point Wolf was said to be more of an old veteran so extremely skilled and dangerous. The elite status is only earned by killing some of the most dangerous game in the galaxy including but not limited to a hive or even a queen. Simply put good comparison of elite clan would probably be black ops or spec ops
Wolf is my favourite Yautja, he is a total badass, he kills Xenomorphs like they’re nothing and has a awesome design. I also really like the Predalien, a underrated and unique Yautja/Alien hybrid creature
Wolf could’ve actually survived the tail impalement by the predalien. The predalien was stabbed through the head and likely into the brain, meaning quick death. However, if we assume that Yautja have relatively humanoid proportions for their internal organs, then the predaliens tail would’ve missed most vital internal organs. The impalement was most likely in the middle of his rib cage and the predaliens tail would’ve missed Wolfs heart, liver and maybe just nick one of his lungs. The most he would leave with would be a broken spinal chord and blood loss, but even then, Yautja technology probably could’ve repaired a broken spine and cauterize the wound, meaning if the nuke never dropped and he found some way to contain the infestation, Wolf could’ve actually walked away from the Colorado Xenomorph outbreak alive.
Both were draw in their final fight. Praetorian Predalien (Royal Guard Predalien) stabbed Wolf with his tail on his chest area, while Wolf the Elite Yautja stabbed his elongated head brain area. Even if nuke didn't came, both were dying in the end as results from their fatal wounds they been sustained. Soo yeah, also it is canon that Xenomorph always been stronger and intelegence than their host's themself.
@@rizkyramadhansoundwave8555 Wolf’s injuries, relatively speaking compared to the predalien, were much less severe and none of them would warrant an instant death, broken spinal chord would slowly kill him over several days and blood loss would do so in several hours, easily enough time to drag himself somewhere secluded on the roof and pull out the heal box to try and stop the blood loss or fix his spinal chord to survive. There is a chance he can’t stop the blood loss, fix his spinal chord or worst case scenario, one of his lungs are punctured, dramatically reducing his chance of survival, but A) it’s more than the predalien gets because she would’ve died pretty much instantly and B) remember I used the words *could’ve* survived, not *would definitely have* survived, meaning there is a chance Wolf would survive but it’s not guaranteed and C) which of these do you think you would have a greater chance to survive: getting your brain impaled or bleeding out from an approximately 6 cm hole. Edit: the predalien in the movie wasn’t a praetorian, she was molting into a queen
@@irohnic473 These Predalien is pretty much Royal Guard, because he doesn't full controlled his brother & sisters, where as Queen easly control over her warriors via telephatic communication. But I guess, Royal Guard Xenomorph later can be transformed into Queen depending on situation. In Alien Resurrection 1997 movie, it is already canon, the Queen Xenomorph are pure 'breed aliens', which means she is basicly ignored her host DNA reflex. I also have a theory that if Predalien had the chance create new enstablised hive, he would also metamorphose into the new Queen in the hospital lair.
@@Mr_Business2433 Correct, Wolf stabbed the Royal Guard Predalien using his wristblades on the brain area. Obviously, the brain area is the most important thus can be fatal if get pierced by any lethal weapons.
Imagine if Wolf survived and then returned with the skulls of dozens of xenomorphs. Half of the yautja clan would probably just kill themselves on the spot for daring to stand in his presence.

@@BBoy4040 it was the first thing that came to mind, plus its the only one where you see the nuke fly directly in the middle of the city with a mushroom cloud (I also didn’t see the live action movies)
Its consistent to the pure Xenomorphs, but this is a Predalien and all through its movie there's been no show of its blood being acidic. I have heard theory that the Yautja have blood that counteracts the Xenomorphs as like the result of an arms-race between the species, maybe with the birth of a predalien it looses the acidity of its Xenomorph half. And I think that's fair from a design standpoint, the thing is already twice as powerful as a natural Predator with all the speed, stealth and natural weaponry of the Xenomorph.
The fact that Wolf can effortlessly slay that many xenos with and without the Plasmacasters and even just using close combat weapons as well as effortlessly manhandle them and go toe to toe with the Predalien and holding his own and deliver the lethal blow even though he himself got stabbed shows just how deadly an experienced veteran Yautja can be. Definitely not to be trifled with.

Even tho despite from knowing how much of a threat the predalien was. Wolf exactly knew when to drop his gear and go for an honorable fight. God I love the code of the predators

THIS movie is almost worth watching for the awesome practical effects, it's just too bad 90 percent of it is so dark you can't fucking see anything. This is probably the best lit night scene in the movie which isn't saying much.
The director knew the mere sighting of the extra terrestrials did not inflict fear in the audience, so he thought "maybe if it's all confusing and suggesting the people will scare"... it didn't
@@Kriegerdammerung The directors of this movie ain't even real directors, they were special effects technicians without experience. That's why the suits are great but the lighting is so amateur
The first AVP crossover is worse, so to speak. AVP Requiem is more or less watchable at times. The both movies feel more like videogames than real motion pictures.
The people in the camera and lighting crew were repeatedly telling the director everything was too dark, but he didn't listen to them.

Really good explanation! Thanks
Wolf was the best Predator. The way he went about his business throughout the entire movie with full focus and no nonsense and just handled everything like a damn professional and didn't back down from anything or hinder for even a minute. That the Predator goes through that much ceremony against a worthy Xenomorph, should tell you that they understand how intelligent the Xenomorphs are.

RIP Wolf, one of the greatest predators to have ever lived
@@irohnic473 you are right. And even if they both would've died without the nuke then the predalien would die faster than wolf
