+Scott White wouldn't let me reply to your comment but as the snow melts it does get wet, however seems to dry as it does because of the dry heat. Under my sleep system I put a mylar type ground sheet and also I setup the tipi in a very small incline so any water would run downhill. Also, you could put down pine boughs.
wow, you have just blown my camping mind, you just did things I never even considered. You just gave me the knowledge to do winter camping. Didn't know they made tipis. WOW. Going to start buying gear now to copy your setup, Thank you .
I have watched this video numerous times. I have to say that I am sold. Told my Hubby want I wanted after extensive research. Your set up & the validation behind it, suits what I am looking for. Appreciate the thought process behind it too! Thank you.
This is one sweet setup, a great light weight combo, and you have proven in cold weather how comfortable it is........ty for sharing, would like to see more with this setup to see how it holdsup..........
The combination of gear looks good. Have to ask about the axe/hammer in this video. Make/model/who/etc. etc. How well does it keep it's edge? Thanx much..
Hi Ben, was watching this and your snugpak scorpion tent winter outing. Which would you say was the best for carrying, setting up and being totally bomber in bad winter conditions, in high winds, driving rain/sleet and ability to deal with snow loading. Be good to get your thoughts. Dave in the UK.
Thats some nice flat ground, hard to find that in the bush! Interesting product, out of my budget but curious to see how it would stand up to high winds, heavy snow and or a hot sun beating down on it. The lightweight wood stove is a nice touch. When the natives made tipis they had long staffs running up the sides supporting the structure, this prevented caving in from snow while allowing wind to blow around. If this works as marketed it could be quite good, but I personally I dont think I would ever buy it, but I may change my mind in the years to come! Thanks for the review!
Canadian Prepper Thanks for the comment, it was quite windy yesterday and we got about 5" of snow which didn't phase it at all. I don't even have the guy out lines tied which would add an incredible amount of stability in high winds. The sides are steep enough that the snow runs down to the base.
Man, I'm glad I ran into this vid. I have seen hundreds of vids on YT and yours is THE one that lays out this wonderful and light equipment. This is the kind of stuff that I want for my bushcraft/survival and plain old camping adventures! I have subbed you and look forward to watching all of your past and new vids. Thank you, brother. You've given this kindred spirit a good start at the kind of freedom I seek. God bless and stay FREE.
I have had my TP that I bought last winter after watching this video. I used it in the snow and now have used it in the summer. I really like my TP, but I was wondering about cleaning it. It got a bit dirty during a rain resently due to mud. I was wondering about how to clean my TP. How do you wash yours . I thought maybe I could wash it on delicate cycle in the washer and then dry it in the sun. What do you do. Thanks, Steve
Love the clear and simple way you explained everything.......nice to know all the possible ways to blow this place ; before ending up in the 'old folks home' !!!!
Living Survival it is a nice Tipi but the material looks so thin and fragile, have you tried it out with torrential rain?? does it spot or leak?? whats it like against heavy wind??
Is there a smaller 1/2 person version or would you grab a big one so you can have one side to sleep and another to put all equipment and stuff inside ?
wow...I love everything about what you have except the fact the floor is exposed. Does this teepee tent comes with a floor with a obtain to have a section removed for stove? I seen one in Cabelas store but not a teepee tent style. l LOVE the facts this thing is only alil over 4 lbs. I live in Oregon and been searching for a tent/stove combo like this. Thanks for sharing.
Lov the vid think a more collapse type stove b better like flattened ? U know put it together type? Also you think 3 people with stove would be too tight ? Thanks n i like !!!
rene casanas Three people would work without the stove. Yes a more square stove would work better for cooking but this one did ok and it was the ultralight weight I was shooting for here.
I don.t know if this would make sense. But could you use a Hammock mounted on posts inside the tipi? With the stove and the hammock elevated high enough you would not have to worry abt heat conduction to the ground. Just something I thought up. The idea would probably work better in a wall tent.
Nice video dude. Don't have any idea why people are assholes about a tent video. Just can't imagine how tortured some people must be inside to comment harshly about a tent video. Keep working hard and keep working on your channel. Best to you.
So what happens when the nice warm stove heats the inside and the snow inside melts? You are left with a pretty muddy mess I suppose? Put a ground tarp down?
Michelle- Just Playin I don't think they do as they are custom made. Their website is linked in the video. The other company making these was GoLite but they went out of business. Expensive but the best I have found for the money.
I am using, right now, a light-weight tent with a double cover, so the inside layer is not in contact with the outside layer. Do they have that double layer or possibiity ?
Is there anyway you cold waterproof it or at least water resistant? Like that beeswax-linseed oil (? don't know if that's the correct ingredients) mix I've seen people coat items with on RUclips? Just a thought; it'd be cool if the rain or melting snow would really roll off & not soak into it.......
Hats off to you bro, it was 20 degrees today and I was being a big baby today at work with this god awful super huge jumpsuit on. Still complained about the temperature. Great video and I as a subscriber appreciate the dedication you put into your videos. Thumbs up man.
lefthendrix I will be reviewing the same pack fairly soon and will unpack the contents. I try to show what I would pack in each video to give it some more content than a standard tabletop review. Thanks for watching.
I want to look at something like this for my Snowmobile camping trips. How do you think i could stake the tipi in the deep deep snow. we get around 700" a year.... I've already ordered the Ti Stove! very cool!
Done, I got some MSR Snow takes on Amazon. I will be adding a ground trap to the package also. I plan is to lay down a bed of pine burrows and then put a tarp on top of that.
Brian A A closed cell pad works well on top of pine boughs. You can also use a space blanket on top of the tarp or pad to reflect heat back to your body.
Yeah I just want to make a dry floor Ill be using this in one of the coldest places in the US. at night we see temps down to -30 to -40! so getting completely off the snow is a must, I will also be covering the tipi as much as I can with snow
Oh I will. Normally for fires I take AL Foil and crumple it and build layers to build a fire on top of. Im thinking that will also work well under the stove. that combined with a full pine bed under the sheet should help that too.
I love tipi tents , this one looks solid , but the price is to rich for my blood. Do you have any recommendations on other tipis or tents that can room 3-4 people for a more inexpensive price ? Im looking for light weight 3-4 Seaons .
This looks really good for what i need, looking to do backpacking with max 3 ppl and maybe ill see if they have a larger size but thank you for this video.
How do you deal with snow melt on the inside resulting from the higher temperatures caused by the wood stove? Seems to me like you would be sleeping in a huge puddle of water after burning that stove all night
You need snow legs or a few logs to keep stove from sinking but the inside doesn’t melt as much as you think it would. After a few days you can put down a wool blanket or tarp to help with ground moisture.
Slowfood Survivalist I am burning dried hardwood which doesn't produce many sparks. You can add a spark arrestor (basically a mesh or criss cross grate) to the top to knock them down. The material will hold up to ash and soot but you could potentially get a spark that would create a hole. Some hot tents send the stove pipe out diagonally so that it isn't directly above but with a good 3' or so above the tent it doesn't appear an issue.
That is a great looking set up! I'll have to go check them out! Curious to see if the stove comes with some sort of flat top so you can cook on? I'll stay tuned! Thanks for sharing!
No flat top but you can use a kettle and small pots on the top. I was thinking of using a grill slat type flat top on the top of it to cook food. Will be playing around with it.
This is another awesome shelter idea. I like it very much! Enough room for two people, comms and living gear! Slowfood Survivalist Youre the expert, whats your opinion?
Just subscribed. Dude, you put out some awesome, quality videos so thank you for all your hard work. Okay, on to watch/learn from some more of your other older ones. Peace and God Bless
Can I just say...that's amazing. What a great setup. Definitely cool to see a nice cold weather set up that's light weight and has some wiggle room. Take care man
I Like it doesn't have an attached floor. I really hate that in tents, makes it hard to pack them back up as well as clean, dry them. But of course, everyone will disagree with me! I just sold my Large 12'x12' tent, got tired of trying to fold it and pack back up, and it was impossible to stay warm in cool weather in it, and hot in warm weather. :p So am looking for a new tent now! 🙂 I didn't think it possible to be that warm in winter camping, in a tent!
Lol sorry what did that whole system run ya ? Thanks for response man. Meaning stove n tent, but to me seems stove seems kinda bulky to carry whole like that .
Realistically man it seems like a great time for camping ; bugout might want to consider a more covert and defendable setup. No windows cant see and or secure your area. Also great work putting the video together and handling the cold like a champ.
Gino Zahnd right I am working/living in a war zone so when he mentions ‘bug out’ to it has a different connotation than hey I’m going camping for the weekend like your saying. Yeah you’re making my point. No knock on him though he did a damn good job on the video. And I ended up buying a setup like this to enjoy camping.
I can see getting this if I went camping more or anyone for that matter as its very well made and light weight. But $710 for the tent and pole is steep for most to afford plus the stove it can become cost prohibitive. Other than cost its a great tent and looking forward to seeing the stove video.
+Joe Magaro i will be using it again this year. i imagine long term it may not hold up as well as some others but the price and weight were right for this challenge.
That's the coolest lil set-up I've seen good stuff as allways man great vid.Ever thought of doing a vid where you stay out for a couple days or so I'd love to see it
+gerard haubert I will sometimes tie out two or three on the side where I sleep to have some additional space if using a cot or raised bed. otherwise only if it is really windy.
it's great!.....but.... next time you set it up prepare the ground first! (remove the snow).....I have passed it on to all my friend happy trails my friend!...and Merry Christmas!
You ain't foolin me! You got this for ice fishing. LOL Seriously, that is a cool tipi shelter. Others I have seen were not as portable. Killer set up with the stove.
Ha, All I have is a small 2 man HT Enterprises pop up. YOU might want to rub elbows with Clam. My buddy just purchased the 6 man pop up. Thing is like a yurt! Would make an awesome review. I usually go old school with box and lantern.
Living Survival totally agree with you lol you must have the cash lol all your gear looks pretty expensive nice stuff lol thanks for the response, yeah that's awesome gear I would love to have it myself. You're vid,s were all done really well I really enjoyed them looking forward to see more of them.lol you weren't too far in the bush there where you? I could hear the plows or at least their backup beepers lol
A sown-in Tub-floor would be a great improvement ! ...but otherwise a great lightweight shelter for such cold conditions, given its minimum weight for warmth.
You may know by some of my previous comments ... I am pretty cheap. But this just makes sense to me. Low weight plenty of room .. I would swap my hammock system out for this in my kit.

Thank you.
This is one sweet setup, a great light weight combo, and you have proven in cold weather how comfortable it is........ty for sharing, would like to see more with this setup to see how it holdsup..........
Very nice. Was wondering if there is enough sidewall height for two cots? Thanks for sharing and God bless.
yes, for sure. you can also use the tie outs that are higher on the walls than the stake outs to extend out the sides.
The combination of gear looks good. Have to ask about the axe/hammer in this video. Make/model/who/etc. etc. How well does it keep it's edge? Thanx much..

Great Video! Just wondered would the stove pipe not singe the tent when it gets warm? Thanks
reformeddefence No, because there is a fire retardant stove jack. And it does get HOT!

Stephen Anderson I would just wipe it down with mild soap and water.
Love the clear and simple way you explained everything.......nice to know all the possible ways to blow this place ; before ending up in the 'old folks home' !!!!
:) thanks for watching and the comment.
Living Survival it is a nice Tipi but the material looks so thin and fragile, have you tried it out with torrential rain?? does it spot or leak?? whats it like against heavy wind??
***** It doesn't leak and has additional tie outs about a foot up from the ground as well so you can really tie it down.
Cool

+john wayne You can make your own floor but no- it doesn't come that way.
Great video... have you tried heating large-ish rocks and placing them inside the tent for additional heat?
Lov the vid think a more collapse type stove b better like flattened ? U know put it together type? Also you think 3 people with stove would be too tight ? Thanks n i like !!!

Some people suck
So what happens when the nice warm stove heats the inside and the snow inside melts? You are left with a pretty muddy mess I suppose? Put a ground tarp down?
Heck yeah! That is a nice tent and light weight too. I will have to see if amazon has one of those! Thanks for sharing your cool finds!
Michelle- Just Playin I don't think they do as they are custom made. Their website is linked in the video. The other company making these was GoLite but they went out of business. Expensive but the best I have found for the money.
yay.i have another question where did u find the fireplace or did u hand make it its really radical
I have videos on it. It is from LiteOutdoors.
thank you
Loved this. It's so bloody hot here in Australia at the moment, I'd love to spend some time in one of these.
Rhi McKeon Smoothing it for sure.
Awesome review! Think there will be enough room for 3 people AND a stove?
It would be a tight fit with gear as well. There is no vestibules.
Ben, You don't research a lot, you never stop! Always a Great job reviewing the products. Keep them coming!
How would that hold up against an open fire? Looks like sparks would melt holes... I am trying to decide between traditional canvas or one of these.
+Clinton Shepley it is not meant for an open fire. I wouldn't have an open fire in a canvas one either.
Nice tipi shelter! Looks really roomy and cozy.
Oh yeah!
I am using, right now, a light-weight tent with a double cover, so the inside layer is not in contact with the outside layer. Do they have that double layer or possibiity ?

OK, Cool !! So water just beads and rolls off?

Cameron Herrin It's about 13 here today, so a bit warmer.
Can't even imagine having to survive out in cold weather
I really dig ur channel ! researching the tipi brought me to you. love to see you do a total unpack of All the contents of you pack.
lefthendrix I will be reviewing the same pack fairly soon and will unpack the contents. I try to show what I would pack in each video to give it some more content than a standard tabletop review. Thanks for watching.
Would you recommend that for someone living inside a tent?
Cool vid, i am particularly interested in the bag itself, is it possible we could see a quick review or full review on that?
William Sedgwick Will have a review on it after a bit of use. Trying to get some dirt time with it first ;)- Very nice pack for sure.
I want to look at something like this for my Snowmobile camping trips. How do you think i could stake the tipi in the deep deep snow. we get around 700" a year.... I've already ordered the Ti Stove! very cool!

Oh I will. Normally for fires I take AL Foil and crumple it and build layers to build a fire on top of. Im thinking that will also work well under the stove. that combined with a full pine bed under the sheet should help that too.
Great set up. I like the Seek Outside titanium stoves.
Nicholas Pope me too.
That looks like the perfect hot tent for portability. I am making an ultralite tent at the moment, tipi style.
That stove is amazing :)
Great vid.
Tac Blades Let me know when you get it done, maybe we can colab on something.
sounds great :)
How do you monitor CO and oxygen levels to be sure they are safe with the stove burning?
Thanks for the review, I bought the same tent with SO stove back in November but haven't had chance to use it yet. I need some woods time lol
Shewie01 Oh you'll love it.
I love tipi tents , this one looks solid , but the price is to rich for my blood. Do you have any recommendations on other tipis or tents that can room 3-4 people for a more inexpensive price ? Im looking for light weight 3-4 Seaons .
+Heinz Wettengl snugpak makes some nice ones. i also like kelty and big agnes.
Thanks buddy
And so you have an opinion on tarp tents maybe even using pvc pipe
This looks really good for what i need, looking to do backpacking with max 3 ppl and maybe ill see if they have a larger size but thank you for this video.

Nice review/demo on the tipi and stove. Love that they are both so very lite weight!
Thanks Susan Rogers
Did the tipi come already made for the stove, or did you have to make your own modifications?
***** The tipi comes with a stove jack. No modification necessary.
Living Survival thank you
How did the tent material behave with the sparks falling from the chimney (or what ever is the correct name for that smoke tube :) )?
Slowfood Survivalist I am burning dried hardwood which doesn't produce many sparks. You can add a spark arrestor (basically a mesh or criss cross grate) to the top to knock them down. The material will hold up to ash and soot but you could potentially get a spark that would create a hole. Some hot tents send the stove pipe out diagonally so that it isn't directly above but with a good 3' or so above the tent it doesn't appear an issue.
What size stove is that and how long can it go without having to add wood to it if it was filled to maximum capacity with large logs?
Daniel Galvez it is a cylinder stove from liteoutdoors, you have to fill a few times an hour or so but the heat remains for long after.
What hatchet were you using in this video? Thanks for the video!
+atombarlow cold steel trail hawk
This is another awesome shelter idea. I like it very much! Enough room for two people, comms and living gear!
Slowfood Survivalist Youre the expert, whats your opinion?
You are exaggerating my expertise, but looks like a very nice shelter.
Slowfood Survivalist
edit:
Yeah I think its cool too!
Seems like a great setup Ben. I too worry about your floor in there getting soggy when it melts.
Derek Everyguy It dries almost as quickly as it melts.
Just subscribed. Dude, you put out some awesome, quality videos so thank you for all your hard work. Okay, on to watch/learn from some more of your other older ones. Peace and God Bless
+sam adams thank you!
What keeps that center pole from sinking deeper and deeper into the ground?
@Old Toby So do you have a teepee with a single pole holding up the entire tent?
@Old Toby 👍😊
Can I just say...that's amazing. What a great setup. Definitely cool to see a nice cold weather set up that's light weight and has some wiggle room. Take care man
Shane Coffey Yeah, wanted to find something that didn't require an army to carry it in.
Got ya is that stove lighter? Than the folding cooking ones? Can u manage to cook on that one ?
rene casanas yes there is a video I did right before or after this one that shows cooking on it.
Awesome shelter Ben ,nice set up for sure ! like to see a vid on the wood stove never seen one like that !
atb john
Yes, I would also like to know more about that stove.
Looks really good. I'm anxious to see a review of the stove.
Coming tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing this Ben.
STN, Julian
***** Yes 8x18. Thanks for watching.
nice ben looks a lot like my scout overnighter great tent tipi and it warmed nicely
Thanks so much for watching and the comment, hope all is well.
Can you use any stove with this tent or does it have to be the one you reviewed? Thanks.
jackbaur18 Any stove that is made for this type of thing.
OK great thanks!
great review. Who makes the pack?
+Richard Howell frost river
I Like it doesn't have an attached floor. I really hate that in tents, makes it hard to pack them back up as well as clean, dry them. But of course, everyone will disagree with me! What are the advantages of a tipi tent over a dome tent?
Jesse Beckton he just showed you. You can use a stove
I have this same system. Fits beautifully into my pack or sea kayak and has opened up a whole new season. Cool/Warm
Awesome tipi. I was impressed with the stove as well with it being 0 degrees outside and 59 inside. Thanks for sharing.
what did you do, but out to your backyard.
Good video man. Liking that little wood stove. Good little setup.
STAF1776 Will have a video on the stove today.
Lol sorry what did that whole system run ya ? Thanks for response man. Meaning stove n tent, but to me seems stove seems kinda bulky to carry whole like that .
rene casanas it rolls up
This will be a good companion to my army surplus SHA hunter stove.
GUERRILLACOMM Oh yeah!
Realistically man it seems like a great time for camping ; bugout might want to consider a more covert and defendable setup. No windows cant see and or secure your area. Also great work putting the video together and handling the cold like a champ.
Covert and defendable? Haha, he’s camping, not at war.

Nothing screams tactical like an orange bug out tent , lol.
Great video dude, do you know if they have OD green or other colors?
+SpectreTheHorseman green and coyote.
Nice Vid! How has the stove held up?
+Joe Magaro i will be using it again this year. i imagine long term it may not hold up as well as some others but the price and weight were right for this challenge.
Is the 4 person in this video and the cimmaron the same in regards to size?
i don't think so.
Ben do you still have this, and how's it holding up??🤔
Check out gritty outdoors gear drop. They abuse their crap hunting the worst of the worst.
Any thought about removing the snow down to the bare earth?
Ernest Lane If there is only a few inches yes, but lots of places there are many feet of snow and it would be al all day task.
very nice, like the room and the insulating powers seem pretty good for so thin. thanks
gets really HOT
How is the standing room for you?
Ever wish you had the 6-man for more height?
Can only stand in the center but no it doesn’t bother me.
What a great video. Well done Ben. take a look at a great shelter Living Survival has made a video about.
Thanks my friend, stove video coming tomorrow.
Living Survival i might take you up on a featured video, if your still good with that.
For sure.. let me know.
That's the coolest lil set-up I've seen good stuff as allways man great vid.Ever thought of doing a vid where you stay out for a couple days or so I'd love to see it
If I had the time I would for sure ;)-
Excellent winter system but soooo expensive, especially with all the other options available. Nice vid & demo tho...
Great reviews friend
Can't wait for that stove to be reviewed
Coming tomorrow my friend.
Awesome.
Did you go with the Liteoutdoors XL or the regular size one ?
Jason
Regular.
Ok thank you again for all that you so
Personally I would have used a ground tarp. Would like to see tent with all lines out to see if extra space is worth the effort. Good video, thanks
+gerard haubert I will sometimes tie out two or three on the side where I sleep to have some additional space if using a cot or raised bed. otherwise only if it is really windy.
The tent appears to be handier than the 1-person shelter half I was issued in the 1970s Army, although it was made of tough canvas.
Great video Ben, reminds me of my boyscouts-times the Lavu-4-person tents, but we didn't have such a nice stove :-) Cheers, Marc
Yeah, similar for sure.
as soon as i saw those straps i knew it was a frost river backpack, excellent choice i have the exact same one
Benny...just subscribed! Which stove is that??!
Lite outdoors cylinder stove
When we taking it out???
Anytime brother.
is there a footprint available? how can u sleep right in the snow?
no footprint. you can use a tarp if you want. use a pad and you are fine on the snow.
it's great!.....but.... next time you set it up prepare the ground first! (remove the snow).....I have passed it on to all my friend happy trails my friend!...and Merry Christmas!
i could where I was in this video buy typically there is 4-5 feet of snow which you aren't going to remove. nothing wrong with sleeping on the snow.
You ain't foolin me! You got this for ice fishing. LOL Seriously, that is a cool tipi shelter. Others I have seen were not as portable. Killer set up with the stove.
Yeah for sure. I'm counting on you for the ice shanty though.
Ha, All I have is a small 2 man HT Enterprises pop up. YOU might want to rub elbows with Clam. My buddy just purchased the 6 man pop up. Thing is like a yurt! Would make an awesome review. I usually go old school with box and lantern.
Thanks for sharing. Nice unit. We are getting dumped on in west Michigan. Stay warm
***** We got a few inches here but spoke to my brother in KZOO and he said getting dumped on.
do you know if a queen size inflatable bed would fit in that 4 man?
Daniel Galvez Don't think so since the pole is in the center.
Nice video man. How long is that stove pipe?

Living Survival
thanks man
Awesome video! Love the snow videos! Thanks
I'd still like to have a tarp or something on the ground. When that snow melts, you're going to have a mess on your hands! LOL
Brother, did you not see the tarp under the wool blanket. Got it handled LOL :)-
Living Survival Yea I saw that. LOL I'm talking about the rest of the inside of the shelter! LOL
Haha, except I placed it on a small decline so the stuff would go downhill MUAHAHAH
Very nice set-up. Cozy.
capcon6 Sure is, thanks for watching and have a great weekend.
Awesome review, that would make awesome bug out set up. Pretty expensive still quality don't come cheap. Thanks I'll be checking out your other vids.
Tony Quartermain and you can use it hiking, backpacking, camping, hunting etc.
Tony Quartermain Nope, many of them are in my backyard since I have the equipment on loan from the company I am reviewing for etc.
thanks for sharing buddy fantastic set up love the tipi and the stove...ATB...colin.
colincky w thanks for checking it out I appreciate it
A sown-in Tub-floor would be a great improvement ! ...but otherwise a great lightweight shelter for such cold conditions, given its minimum weight for warmth.
Paul Nixon I wouldn't want a floor because of the stove.
Definitely saving up for this tee pee!! Great vid .. looking forward to the stove and conclusion vid!
P701 Preparedness & Outdoors You won't be sorry.
You may know by some of my previous comments ... I am pretty cheap. But this just makes sense to me. Low weight plenty of room .. I would swap my hammock system out for this in my kit.
Where can I get a wood burning stove like that IF you don't mind
LiteOutdoors. I have two videos on it, just look at my videos ;)-
