    Hi Clay, always appreciate your vids. I have a tip for you. We've been using their 12 man (they made a prototype for me as they weren't making that big a tipi back then) for close to 10 years to pack into the wilderness here in CO. You can save some weight by using a small rope, cut to the right length, to mark your perimeter. Put a loop on one end. We put a stake in the middle and then use a tent stake to scribe the perimeter in the dirt. Then use that same rope to go cut a small dead tree down to the right length for your pole. Leave some branch stubs on it to hang stuff on. Works great for lights, drying clothes, etc.

    Super great idea!, you made a bell tent out of a teepee. Much more space. Great idea

    Man, you need to do this more (or I need to follow you more). This was the BEST demonstration on the tent and stove setup I have seen. Super simple and covered it all, with experience thrown in. S.O. needs to hire you to do all of their demos and media.

    I’m going to switch from wall tents in the back country to one of these. One of the best gear videos I’ve watched. The comments are very useful as well. Nice job.

    This answered many questions I had on tipi tents and stoves - thank you for taking the time to put this together.

    As usual, great video, Clay! I've had my Seek Outside 4 man Tipi Tent for 3 years now, and still got some tips from this video.

    Great Tips! Looking to get into hot tent camping this winter and picked up Seek Outside's LBO and Large Stove. Will post videos of my learning experience.

    Couldn't see exactly, but it looked like you tied a Taut-line hitch. I prefer the slippery grip hitch, but they essentially work the same for adjusting the tension.

    Good Video! Subscribed. Hope you had a good hunting season! Still isn't over yet here, but hope you got your freezer stocked up! I've been looking at tipi tents all year on You Tube and other methods, and your demonstration shows some specific questions I had answered. Wish you mentioned your height, so I could estimate your height to the height of the tent. As well I would love to hear the weight in the video so I didn't have to look it up! But beyond that great job. Showing how each person does their setup sometimes helps me determine more of what I am looking for in a hot tent. Very much appreciated and hats off!

    Clay, great work! What stove size do you recommend for 8 man tipi?
    Thanks
    Good tip from John Lovell on making own pole!

      I don’t recall what stove I have. Seems like it’s about 8x10x18 or so. I don’t have it here handy.

    Ive been trying to figure it out but do not understand what the advantage of not having a floor is it just a weight thing? Do you use a ground cloth? Thank you love the videos.
    Ps that stovepipe is super slick

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  3 года назад +1

      It cuts weight, but the big thing for me is that a floorless does accumulate a bunch of dirt. I use a ground cloth when it’s wet out.

    Us a string with to loops in it half of yr radius , put yr center pin in put the line loop over it and then stretch out yr sting. And put the next pin using the other loop and just walk around you will get a perfect circle every time.

    Clay, are you still using this setup? Do you like the titanium stove and chimney? I'd like to see what you recommend now, three years down the road. Thanks.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  3 года назад +1

      Yes and yes. I still use this when weight is an issue. We have a big canvas wall tent when weight isn't an issue.

    Clay do you believe one could set a tarp down on the days, places, or in situations where condensation could be an issue?

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  4 года назад

      If the condensation is coming from the ground it would probably help.

    How do you secure the stakes to the loops? The stakes have a small indentation and rope loop but I can't seem to figure out how to secure it with the tent loop sliding off of the stake.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  8 месяцев назад

      The stakes are angles outwards. The tension of the tent holds them on.

    Clay, Have you ever had any issues with rattle snake with the floorless tents? I hunt down near Salmon and have run into rattle snakes on the trail and have been a little freaked out about floorless tenting.

    Is the tent material rip stop? Also, does the stove come with a spark arrestor?

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  5 лет назад

      Yes, it’s ripstop silnylon. I think my stove has a spark arrest in the damper.

      It actually goes up a lot faster than most large tents, and it's easy to do by yourself.

    How do you pitch a teepee on rocky ground?

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  3 года назад

      Put some paracord through the tie out points and stack rocks on it. You can also put rocks on the bottom skirt.

    nice tent! I think the knot you used was a rolling hitch?

    • @jacobcouch6909
      @jacobcouch6909 6 лет назад +1

      I’m pretty positive it’s a tautline hitch. I’m not sure what a rolling hitch is (could be a different name for it). Again “pretty” positive.
