I live in Naples FL and seeing the devastation of the storm has been heartbreaking. I was extremely lucky and only lost power for about 40 mins. A couple miles from me towards the coast people lost everything. I’ve been volunteering and hearing stories of how people escaped their homes is something I will never forget. I’ve also heard a lot of stories of people not making it. I’ve definitely struggling with survivors guilt at this point. Please keep Florida in your prayers ❤

Thanks for sharing your book collection. Several are favorites that I read as a child. I am currently reading Alice Hoffmans Practical Magic series of 4 books. Most have probably seen the movie Practical Magic; but I had no idea there were 4 books; one of which is Practical Magic. I chose to read them in chronological order. If you google or check your library you can find the order to read them. I have really enjoyed them. Also Alice Hoffman has a lot of other books as well.
After you read the books you have to see the movies. It’s long but amazing. They also have shows on the books. Hope you like them. Happy Fall. I’m in the Tampa and also was in the storm like you. Glad you and your family was ok.

Im going to share with you my experience with mint growing. I live in Southeast Michigan and I love mint. I have grown many varieties. As you know we learn by trial and error. Mint likes cooler weather. I found that it grows much better in weather thats between 75--55 degrees. Florida heat scorches everything. winter is going to be when mint thrives in florida. or it will do well inside by a sunny window. Spearmint and Strawwberry mint grows upward and work great in flower arrangements. Chocolate, peppermint, orange, pineapple
mints tend to weep or hang and they make great hanging plants. Also, many hearbs prefer cool weather. Start your mint and herbs like Rosemary, parsley, thyme, sage in fall. The Basil likes warmer weather. Hope these tips help. 😁🌿

Oh yay!!! I LOVE to hear people find so much joy in Tolkiens work! I grew up with those books, and was truthfully quite obsessed with the movies. They remain my favorites to this day. I believe they laid the foundation for my love of fantasy. I hope you like the trilogy as much as the Hobbit! 😉

I loved this vlog! I'm an avid reader and book collector, but since I got my Kindle years ago I rarely buy or read hardbacks anymore. My daughter-in-law is a library assistant, and refuses to read on a Kindle, LOL, can't blame her, and passes along some of her books to me of authors I like. Anyway, after seeing your beautiful book collection I knew I was missing out on the thrill of holding and reading a great book, so went and purchased one of my long-time favorites, Anne of Green Gables, in the collection you featured. Can't wait for it to arrive. I have the Hobbit collection in my basket at Amazon and, like you, I've never read it or watched any of the LOTR movies, as well as the candle warmer lamp, and I've got an eye on that sling bag. Yikes! You did a great job at your job as an influencer today, lol. I'm so happy for you that your beautiful garden, flowers, and vines survived the storm. My sister-in-law's yard in Cape Coral didn't fare so well. Her beautiful view out of her backyard on the canal was devastated, as were most of her palms, her lanai screen and structure, garage doors, and part of the lanai roof. Thankfully her house is still standing and she had no flooding, for which we are super grateful. I'm so sad she has to deal with all of this after the loss of my brother recently. Thanks so much for bringing beautiful content to us and making the world a little brighter!

Hello Allison, I am glad that you and your family are well after the hurricane. I heard you had to throw all of the food out of your fridge and freezer. I am sorry that happened to you, like you said it could have been a lot worse. I had that happened to me as well, but mine was from the snow. I live in upstate NY. I don't know about your home owners insurance, but mine covered my damaged foods that I had to throw away. If you still have your receipt and compile a list of what you might have lost. I mean, it seems like it might be worth a try. I have watched your show for years now and it is so nice to see how you have grown and matured! I adore you, Brandon and Palmer too! Keep up the awesome job!

The comments in that prayer book break my heart. Prayer in any spirituality should never be met with such harsh words. If there was fighting going on the parents should've been looking to teach their daughter on her level. This just digs so much into my religious trauma. I love your videos Allie but everytime you bring up this book and say it makes you giggle it makes me sad... This is not something anyone should find funny. It's being emotionally abused and using religion as the belt..

I had to try three different editions of fellowship of the ring before I managed to finish it (it was 4yrs start to finish), I’m dyslexic so that didn’t help. If you have the chance watch the extended edition of the lord of the rings, they just add such wonderful bits which make the movie feel so full.

I'm so happy knowing that you're safe. I love that you're reading my favorite book , "The Hobbit". I read this to my son and it remains his favorite to this day. We are both fans of his work and they helped instill the passion of reading that still remains within my Son.

When the power goes out, food can stay good up to 48 hours, as long as you don't open the fridge very much. We had hurricane Ida in Louisiana last year, and were without power for about a week. I think people jump to throwing out food right away, when it can actually last longer than you think. Especially, in the freezer.
I was actually curious to know if fridges are made different in the USA. Never known stuff to go off or defrost in 24 hours. Maybe it’s on its way out? 🤷♀️

Wind in the Willows is one of my favorite books from childhood! You will love it! May I recommend Pride and Prejudice? I read it every couple years. I love it! Ohhh and The Boxcar Children!!!!!
Glad you are all safe! The Wind in the Willows is a brilliant classic which you will live reading. The films is also good along with other films they have done based on the characters from the book. ☺️
I would like to suggest a U-Tube channel by Miranda Mills. She is British and an avid reader. She brings her latest favourite books to her channel and does reviews of same. Her taste in books is very similar to yours.🤗

As a fellow Floridian myself, I completely understand the mixed emotions of feeling grateful, but also feeling the heaviness of those who lost their homes and lives. What an emotional week!

I recently ran across your Chattanooga video and watched that, I grew up there (In Texas now) so it was so great to see that. I should be going back for the holidays or in the spring time, and I look forward to taking my child to Ruby Falls and Rock City and the Incline, I grew up doing those things, your video brought the fun back. :-)
Allison your videos warm my heart! I’m so glad you have discovered The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring Trilogy! They are classics and take you into another world of adventure. The writer created this world first (including the Elvish language) then wrote the stories. He was a philologist and had extensive education of history, the history of language and linguistics. My husband read all those books to both my sons as bedtime stories when they were eight and twelve. They are grown now and continue to love this collection. Enjoy the journey and adventure! ❤️

Lord of the rings is my all time favorite movies! But, I’ve never read the books 😬😅😆 I’ve heard Lord of the rings can be especially detailed and I think I would get a little bogged down by it ha. But Tolkien is amazing and I loveeee the stories. They came out at Christmas time so it’s become a bit of a tradition every Christmas now. They have all the elements of a great story and Peter Jackson did a great job with the movies! I hope you love them!

I too like the Home Grown show, after seeing your dirt it seems to be missing nutrients. Maybe consider doing the layer method and adding manure and compost soil to your boxes.
