They're dealing with very large orders beyond that of retail trading brokers... we get the shit deals on computers. They buy and sell in bulk.
Then we on computers or with retail brokers via an actual broker have and still get the shit deals.

It will largely sort itself out when the market opens and normal supply/demand takes over the next day. This is why there’s such huge opportunity in extended hours trading. Prices become “irrational” more quickly, but tend to normalize at market open. Not long ago the Dow was down aox 1100, then dove another 700 after hours. The 700 drop disappeared by market open, so buying long during that brief dip produced immediate profits by the morning. Of course it’s risky, but filled with opportunity.

Was hoping this video would address stop orders and risk management. I spent so much time focusing on risk management only to find that my stop orders didn't work when the market closed. If all trading stopped and price action was frozen that would make sense to me but the opposite seems to happen and fewer numbers of trades are able to move the price action much further.
Since stop orders sit on the broker's servers I don't see why they would be inactivated at market close in this digital electronic trading environment.

I do my best to assess the reward/risk and to invest in names that have significant upside potential. With Egan Hestrel at the helm of affairs of my trades, I have been able to build up a portfolio of shares that has generated a decent return of $500k in profit over a long term on a consistent trading. It’s safe to say that Hestrel is indeed legitimate after a succession of payouts. I have no doubt investing more.

So, we have gap ups and downs because of a big market maker trading after hours?

    • @jmitterii2
      @jmitterii2 3 года назад

Well, you can trade after hours too.
      And pre-market hours.
On your chart to see some gap ups and downs, check "show extended hours".
Also, sometimes when markets start up, if some catalyst such as a great or shitty earnings report was sent out prior to markets opening, and some stocks don't trade extended hours, but even that do... once normal markets start; the bid and ask spread can vary a lot...
Bullish catalysis all sellers forming their ask are thinking: Shit this stuff's worth gold... gonna have to up my sell to something like a few bucks or more than I was expecting to sell this for.... so no market orders, we'll just chill up here with a high asking price.
And buyers are thinking: I don't care if you rape me with a wet noodle and poor boiling water down my back and I only get 1 share for all this cash I expected to get at least 2 shares with, take my fucking money!
First trade of the day high ask is met by market order buyer.
      Gap up.
Bearish catalyst buyers are thinking... stinky stock... Was gonna probably turtle in at a little dirty bird figure here... but let's shave of several dollars instead.
Sellers are thinking... gotta get rid of this stinky pile of garbage NOW take my profits what's left of them... or lost enough already, dump it now... quick take my stocks and give me anything in return!
First trade low bid is met by market order seller.
      Gap down.
Prices go up means buyers are not really doing limit orders necessarily, but market orders, matching the lowest ask; this buys up the ask price making prices go up.
Prices go down means sellers are not really doing limit orders necessarily, but market orders to sell into the bid order book to the highest bidder working the price down; prices go down.
Heavy selling means sellers are buying out bid order books which are arranged from highest bid to lowest bid. Majority of sellers are market ordering/matching the next best bid price.
      Prices go down.
Heavy buying means buyers are buying out ask order books which are arranged from lowest ask to highest ask. Majority buyers are market ordering/matching the next best ask price.
      Prices go up.

Is there any way to place an order for an options contract pre market and have a higher chance of it getting filled like when market opens. I always see buyers at a certain price at pre market but when I put in my order it doesn’t go in properly for the contract is there any way to do this ?

    Great video!
But how do I reconcile your comment about why there is no 24/7 trading b/c of ‘lack of liquidity’ with the fact that markets are open more or less around the world (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Australia, multiple in Europe, etc)? Why not just push tested into open markets around the world around the clock?

You didn't mention what happens to options after hours and how that can skew your port balance if you've got -CCs that don't change AH, but the underlying makes a big move. It won't rebalance 'til 9:30 when the option starts pricing again.

It can be anybody, but usually people with large amounts of capital. While constantly selling at the ask and buying at the bid, they are also holding massive amounts of the stock in order to be able to sell at the ask. To mitigate the risk of holding the stock, they have to be collecting the bid-ask spread as profit as much as possible. So, the must have a LOT of money. These are usually large banks and financial institutions.

    Hello,
I want to start by saying thank you for your channel. Very informative and the way you explain things is amazing very straight to the point.
Secondly, I want to ask you, how come the prices of some stocks keep changing way after market is closed? I'm talking about midnights which is more than 6 hours after the market is closed. I feel like something is not fair.

Question: If I have a call spread where both legs are currently in the money, and I think the underlying is going to continue rising, is it wise to get rid of the short leg early on and keep my long leg in hopes of generating more profit?

You mentioned how market makers/people going to sleep is probably the main reason (and other needs such as going home or whatever) do you think it would be a good concept to have a global market in which all people from all time zones can provide liquidity for a 24 hour trading session? Love the vids, and do you think you could make a vid on Lotto Flys? Thank you!!
