I am surprised there is only 1 comment for this video. I am so honored and proud to be #2. I was at that Puerto Rico trip that Terri Lyne Carrington talked about. Eddie was playing at the Conservatorio and some angel came to me and told me (I was a student there). I was in shock already to see my hero there…then the inevitable happened, Eddie said to the audience, "does anyone want to play?" needles to say, I thought, "definitely not me" I was about 20 years old. Then the inevitable happened again, the whole audience looked at me and in a choir way chanted, "Eliseo," (because I have been imitating Eddie's solos all this time). I got up and, without thinking, I started playing one of the tunes that they recorded on the album "Friends." I was lucky that Arturo Ortiz was there and he knew the same tune on the piano, so we played it and Eddie just said, " you guys have huge ears," When I talked to him and, by the way, we had a "Sure" PA system for the amplification, I helped him to get a sound and he just said, "that's great." Then I asked him, "do you have a doctorate? he said, "no" then I asked, a master's, and he looked at me in the eyes and said, " I went to Julliard, but I couldn't get anything out of there." He was such a nice person and I will never forget that moment. I would like to say that he definitely deserves it! Congratulations/Felicidades Eddie Gomez from Santurce Puerto Rico and raised in New York City!!!

While I was at Berklee I spent 3 straight days in the hot and humid summer transcribing Eddie's solo off of Humpty Dumpty. What a great learning experience. Congrats Eddie!
