Selling my Dell XPS 13 for HP Spectre X360 14t: More than just a collection of parts.

- That's it, I'm selling my Dell XPS 7390 2-in-1 laptop for the HP Spectre x360 14t. It's not about going from Icelake to Tigerlake, it's not about the performance, it's not about the screen quality, and it's certainly not about the looks. There's a lot more that goes into a laptop than just the sum of it's parts. Things like how well the OEM integrates the parts, and how well they support what they sell. Dell really fell on it's face in my opinion with this beautiful piece of hardware, and HP stepped up to the plate.
TLDW: Dell has great hardware but doesn't seem to be able to get it all to work together. HP, while not perfect, doesn't have the same deal breaking issues.

Honest, to the point, exactly what I wanted compared and no 5 minute sponsored crap. Subbed and will recommend!
Thank you, I'm glad you appreciate how I put it together! Your support is immensely appreciated.
Its ass backwards. Dell is the preferred PC for corporations because of their reliability and support. HP is not even considered.
HP has a large corporate presence too especially with their Z lines. It's more about corporate support than anything.
Wonderful video! I can see you put a ton of effort into this review.
Thank you. I'm happy you appreciate the effort.
This was top notch. I really appreciate getting your long term feedback on the XPS, you touched on many things that seem to get overlooked by others. Great job.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I noticed that I wasn't alone in a lot of these issues, I'm happy it was useful to you.
Thank you for the clarity
Your video is super helpful! Real life use and needs review. Thanks so much!
I'm super happy you found it useful
Nice video found you on hp reddit too. I just switched to my first hp. Same model as you after being a long time surface user
Awesome. It's nice that HP seems to have listened to it's customers.
Would you recommend getting the hp spectre over the surface laptop 4 ? And why ?
Great review. I have an XPS (albeit a 5-year-old model) and I’ve had many annoyances that shouldn’t happen with a ‘top-of-the-line’ machine. I now use it with the battery removed, because the one installed was bulging and Dell wanted to charge me some ridiculous amount for a replacement!
Anyway, I’ve been wondering what alternatives there are when it comes time to get a new machine (anything but Dell). You’ve just answered my question perfectly.
Subscribed. Please keep doing real and unsponsored reviews, I’m sure many will appreciate it.
Very happy I was able to help!
Your video quality is akin to channels with 233 thousand subscribers, not just 233. Subbed + hoping for a quick growth to your channel. Would love to see some simple graphics on screen to help visualise your points even further!
Wow, that's an amazing complement! Great suggestion. Played around with some of that in some other videos, and I'll see what I can do in future ones.
Excellent review. I’m now a subscriber/follower and a fan.
Thank you! Appreciate the support and happy you enjoyed the video.
Very Smooth and Direct! You Covered so many key point to make my Decision between these two laptops. Thank you!
god damn this channel is fantastic. Quality is outstanding
Wow, thank you so much! Really appreciate it.
Love the intro, found you on reddit. You earned another sub!👍
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I binge watched some of your content and posted a few comments. Plz let me know what gear you are using as I'm considering getting some more toy's to tinker with 😂.
Wow thank you. Let me know what you think. Main gear is the Fujifilm X-T4 with the XF 16-80mm f4 zoom. Audio right now is on the Zoom F2 with the included lav mic. Just picked up the DJI RSC2 gimbal too that I'll be tinkering with.
Very helpful review. Thanks so much

I literally was on with Dell chat most of the day yesterday, spec-ing out an “new XPS”. Got close to pulling the trigger, even with the Dell rep pushing me into an alternative to what I really wanted. After a bit more research, decided to nix the Dell. Went to Best Buy to see what I could walk out with immediately. Torn between a few Lenovo models, one in stock, one available later this week; but then, the sales guy showed me the HP Spectre. Which was 4K, which the Lenovo’s weren’t, and it was on sale. Checked reviews, all 5 star. Done. Walked out with my new laptop! Love it, and it’s not even out of the box yet😀
Awesome choice, though Lenovo seems to be doing fairly well as well. Hope the Spectre lives up to your expectations!
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I noticed, but between the yoga and sceptre which would be better for durability and comfortable?
Lenovo has so many different models, and I haven't had a chance to use them, so I really can't say.
I currently have the Lenovo yoga and let me preface that the lack of a 4k display means absolutely nothing. The current display is still quite crisp, however it's the other specs that make this laptop my best purchase made to date. The battery life is that of a professional Olympian same with the speed which is off the charts due to it's processor. The 360 sound bar is unique and welcomed, the typing experience is divine, the haptic mousepad is a touch of brilliance, the laptop itself is really light and for durability I can't say yet but there have been no blemishes for the past 3 months I have used it.
I always buy Hp I never had any problems I still have a 14 years old one working great I tried dell and lenovo both have problems when it's comes to windows laptops HP is the best I m ejoying my Specter
I concur totally. I had XPS 13 for 6 month. Nothing but nightmare. Tech support is the worst!! Finally I returned it back to Costco and purchased HP spectre x 360. Now i am happy camper. Review is down to the point.
I've been finding a lot of people in the same boat ever since I posted this video. Happy you're happy with your HP
Wow what an awesome detailed review
Thank you
Great video! I have an XPS 12 which I really liked but the screen is dying so I need to replace it. I'm very similar to you, I use my laptop to browse, play old school games and read comics which is why I like a convertible.
But when I checked the XPS 13 and saw there was no USB-A it was a deal breaker. It's truly baffling, there are still plenty of mice that need the dongle, external HDDs, external DVD player if needed....
So yeah I'm looking around now and so far I'm leaning towards the Spectre x360. Plus I think it looks gorgeous.
As I use it I like it more and more. I have a small Razer travel mouse that does Bluetooth or you can use a dongle, and the input delay is much better with the dongle, which is of course USB-A. One extra benifit I've just found as I've been doing more photography is that most photos are 3:2 ratio, including 35mm film, so when I view photos it takes up the entire screen, which is nice.
Thanks. Just what I was lucking for. Great video
Thank you I appreciate it.
Thank you for a very interesting video! It is really difficult to buy a high end laptop these days.
It can be. At first there seems to be too many options, but after researching there really are only a few good options, and they all have sacrifices of some sort.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Exactly! It’s because of M1, and lack of bootcamp that is forcing people to search for alternatives. But there are not many altarnatives to Macbooks in design and build quality
This video finally helped me decide between the XPS 13 and the Spectre. I've had my eye on the XPS for around 5 years now and never really considered the Spectre, but I wanted to make sure I thoroughly did my research before spending this kind of money. The Spectre was really tempting but I was not sure if I would regret not having an XPS, which is known to be the holy grail of laptops nowadays. After watching this video, it really did wonders in helping me decide and also giving me the thoughts of someone who has owned both. Thank you so much for this comparison and I wish you success in the near future!
Awesome. I was in pretty much the same boat
Good review.
Thank you!
I am currently in the process of finding a new laptop. My current Surface Book 2 has been AMAZING for a few years and I loved it, but its going downhill now. I decided to look elsewhere than the surface books and came across both of these two. Thanks to your video, I have decided on the HP Spectre! I am looking at getting the 16 inch, but do you think that is too big for a laptop?
All depends on your use case. Nice to have the option for dedicated GPU. The 14 is the perfect size for me since I move it around a good amount. If I was more stationary I would consider something bigger.
I have used more than 4 different generation xps 13s over the past few years , happy with them , yes , there are small issues here and there. Currently using the Hp 14t, for about 3 weeks , and I am enjoying it .
Did you ever have this 7390 2-in-1? I'm guessing this one in particular, or the icelake ones, have the issues. How does the HP compare to your prior XPS experience?
@@AdultsHaveToysToo The oled screen is the biggest thing, and the keyboard too. and never have the fan noise problem as some reviewers mentioned. i took apart quite some xps13, build quality wise. the HP is better.
@@justinwu7959 Do you have any freezing of the pen, or the keyboard?
The reason I ask is that my 2-in-1 Microsoft Surface Book regularly has those issues.
I am worried that the Spectre, which also uses N-Trig technology, might behave the same way.
@@virkelie2 i am not using the pen at all, it's still in the box, haha, sorry.
I Stuck Between the XPS 13 MacBook Pro 13 and The Spectre 13.5. I picked the Spectre. This Review was awesome. And in Regards as to why I didn’t pick the M1 MacBook Pro 💻 is because The spectres is better bang for buck and better looking in my opinion. Oh and your channel name earned you a sub 💯
Thanks man! Glad you're enjoying the Spectre. Apple really did some amazing things with the M1 chip, but I do like the whole package of the Spectre better too.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo it’s bacically the OS which is the main deciding factor. Now, when M1 have no bootcamp, people search for alternatives…
Thanks for this great video and sharing your opinion. Can you comment on battery life for Spectre 14 with OLED 3K for everyday use (office work, video streaming, browsing)? How better is it against XPS 13. Also, how much more battery life would a Full HD Spectre give?
For low impact use like that I never felt it to be lacking. I don't want to give an hour figure because there are so many variables, but I'll say I would feel comfortable leaving the house without a charger. The XPS gave me anxiety with how fast it went through battery. I haven't tried the LCD Spectre, so I can't really say how big of a difference it makes.
I appreciate your honest review, as most reviewers spend a couple of days (maybe!) before they put out the reviews and really don't give you the lowdown on the products. I bought a Lenovo Yoga 920 a few years ago after watching great reviews on RUclips, great laptop, however, I had the same issue as yours on the XPS, while on sleep, the battery drains out. Also "Yoga Mode Control" driver, hogs the CPU constantly, never been fixed and after a couple of years the sound started to crackle. As a replacement I was leaning towards Dell XPS, however, after watching your review, I am going to look elsewhere.
I'm happy you appreciate it.
On point.🔥🔥
Thank you!
I have thsi laptop IS IT OK TO USE COOLING PAD ON THIS??
Our #2 Spectre is on the way... #1 still hot stuff after about 5 years.
NICE REVIEW
Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it.
I'm considering this this PC, I'm concerned about the color reproduction being overly saturated like the Samsung. I would use for photo editing. Thoughts?
HP has color profiles that seem to work pretty well with one big issue that still needs to be addressed. In Adobe apps when automatic color profiles is on is way too warm, have to manually set a color profile. I will say that Samsung is much better in that regard too, especially in srgb mode
Great video. Thanks.
How does their performance compare for programming/coding aspects! Isn’t hp’s fan noisier and kicks in more often !?
I am researching for a nice thin coder friendly windows laptop.
Unfortunately I don't code so I can't help too much in that regard. The fan kicks in about as much as the Dell but the noise is much less irritating. The Dell has a higher pitched whine that I find annoying.
Thank you very much for this review! I was super caught in the middle between the HP Spectre 14t and Dell XPS 13 Tiger Take versions. Though I realize your review for the xps13 is Icelake, I was always wary of the "hidden annoyances" of Dell's products (I too am well aware that no laptop is perfect as I would know only too well after living with Dell and Surface pro & Surface book products for the past 7 years).
The Spectre 14t seems like an improvement from the Spectre 13t, and has thus seemingly caught up with the XPS 13. Your "actual owner's perspective" of both the Spectre 14t and XPS 13 has really provided me with assurance and greater insights into the ownership experience of both. As a result, I would most likely be getting the Spectre 14t, barring any deal-breaker discoveries of the Spectre 14t in the near future.
Many thanks indeed
Glad I was able to help in some way. I've heard good things about the tigerlake XPS, but those were all the same good things I heard about the Icelake version as well.
I have had like 4-5 dell laptops and ive never had one that doesnt get super hot. Maybe aside from one big model
Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you plan to compare the Spectre with the Summit E13 Flip Evo?
No unfortunately. Right now I'm only covering what I'm buying for myself. Don't have access to all the new stuff
Thumbs up! Can do a review Imac Pro M1 vs your HP Spectre 360?! That wld be something....
I would love to do something like that, unfortunately these are all things I get with my own money, and I really have. I need for apple hardware right now.
I walked into Best Buy yesterday with the intentions of purchasing a XPS 13 but walked out with the Spectre 14. I bought this for going back to business school and the taller aspect ratio really makes a difference with class work, using excel, and various online applications for the program. Plus the use of a USB-A port makes life so much easier without having to hassle with a USB-C to A adapter.
I have no interest in gaming on this laptop, and this isn't the machine for you if that's your main concern, but I played a few just to see what it was capable of and.... Overwatch and Halo MCC play smooth on lower settings, Diablo 3 and Binding of Isaac play exceptionally well, but Apex was practically unplayable even on lowest settings.
So far my only hiccup is I am experiencing a minor delay when using a bluetooth mouse (Logi Anywhere 3), which is odd because that was one of the highlights of your video when you were showing no delay. The delay is minor and only occurs if the mouse has been sitting for a short while, then continues to work just fine after that first second once the cursor catches up. I'm not sure if this is the laptop or the mouse causing the issue but i'm hoping tweaking the settings or maybe updating the mouse drivers resolves the issues. Otherwise using the mouse USB adapter seems to work just fine so not a deal breaker.
Overall an amazing laptop if you are looking for an ultrabook and even better if you can find it on sale. I got mine for just under $1400 during a Best Buy sale combined with a tax free weekend.
Mine was the Best Buy special as well. I'm happy it's working out for you. Yeah, Bluetooth is meh for mouses. Power saving modes can cause that issue. Best experience is always with a wire or wireless dongle. Good thing there's a USB-A port for that, lol.
So i did some deep diving into the bluetooth lag issue when using a wireless mouse and I think I found the answer. This doesn't appear to be a HP or mouse related problem but something to do with the 11th gen Intel chips and Windows 10. Some people on reddit are stating changing certain parameters in regedit resolves the issue, but what worked for me was going into device manager and disabling the bluetooth power saver mode for several of the Human Interface Devices. I saw the biggest improvement when I disabled the power saver for the fingerprint reader in the Biometric Devices. I'm not sure how this will affect the battery life during daily use, but so far this seems to have resolved the periodic delay when it comes to my bluetooth mouse.
@@CrJediKnight awesome. Be sure to reply to some of those forum posts to make sure others can see it. I'll test it soon and maybe make a video about it. I'll credit you for bringing it to my attention if you'd like.
I was so close to buy XPS but it isn’t available at the moment. So I explored HP, which frankly I wasn’t keen on. But came across this, so will go ahead with this.
Cool. Update with what you think. I'm always curious about if my experiences match up with others.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I am in love with it! It does heat up a bit after a point, but I do tend to use it for 8-10 hours. Edit: But its volume is really low; I tend to prefer having my calls on speakers & that becomes difficult

@@AdultsHaveToysToo so much more affordable than intel too. It was a no brainer for me. Excited for zen 3 too. Should see some good stuff for holidays
Your review put the final nail in the xps 13 coffin for me .
Now would you recommend the Microsoft surface laptop 4 over the spectre ?
Surface laptop 4 looks like a solid bit of kit, but I still need the 2-in-1 capability the the x360 has. Plus the lack of thunderbolt on the Surface is confusing to me. Still seems like a nice option though.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo
Very correct plus it contains a single fan not like the spectre 360 .
I have a question and i hope you can give your important point of view about it.
Is it worth it getting the spectre over the envy ?
After excluding the surface and xps there are nothing left except the envy and the spectre .
And would you recommend getting the 14 over the 13.3 ?
@@davidmason8212 the Envy 14 looks really great. Wasn't available when I was buying. It's a bit bigger and heavier, but has the option for some low end dedicated graphics which should perform better than the xe graphics. The screen and build aren't as nice though. Just comes down to your priorities.
It's great that different people like different things(would be a very boring world otherwise). I have the XPS 9310 2 in 1 and kept reading about the Spectre 14 so ordered that to take a look. Returned it the next day. Firstly the colour(Nightfall), it's just plain nasty. Far too blingy and girly for me, not something you would want to take out at a board-meeting, secondly as you mentioned, the keyboard, it's not in the bloody middle, so I ended up hitting the wrong keys all the time. And thirdly, I only messed about with it for a few hours(surfing, watching RUclips and it got pretty hot on the bottom and the fans were load.
Yup, that's the great thing about the free market for things like this. I actually recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 6 with a Ryzen 7 and a cloth lid that's really nice for under $1000 too.
I really want the 14t. Any chance if you know weather this model will be coming to UK? THANKS.
No, sorry. I wasn't even aware that it wasn't available over there.
Thanks for sharing your experience, very helpful!
I'm glad you found it helpful!
this video was exactly what I needed! I used to have an XPS 13 (not 2 in 1 but it did have a touchscreen) and I loved so much about it - the feel of the keyboard and the texture around the trackpad and the appearance and just using it in general, but then in the middle of my university semester the screen went black, turned out to be a motherboard issue that campus tech support kind-of-not-really fixed it. was super stressful not having a laptop for a few weeks in the one semester I had decided to take a programming class, among other things! and I don't recall like... any support from Dell.
ended up switching to a Vivobook flip 14 and that is what made me fall in love with 2-in-1s even though the computer overall felt like a bit of a downgrade from the XPS!!
now it's starting to be pretty unreliable, and I'm going into grad school so I've been looking at a replacement... I was flip flopping between the spectre or returning to the XPS line but I think this has really solidified my decision!! thank you & sorry for the long comment 😊
No need to be sorry at all, thank you so much for the comment and I'm very happy I could help. It is frustrating to have a laptop that gets so much right, but fails at basic functions. Hope you enjoy your new laptop when you get it.
Just go for a MacBook Pro and you will forget all these stupid problems from the Windows laptop world;)
Strange,, I have had non of these issues on either the 9310 2-in-1 or the 9310 clam shell version. The issues I had on the Spectre 14 was excessive heat on keyboard and bottom plate in high performance mode, that issue was also present on the 9310 clam shell version. The 9310 2-in-1 have a vapor chamber cooling solution that is much better than HP have. Both XPS systems are also equipped with windows hello 720p cameras, that works flawlessly logging in to the devices. The finger print reader is a hit and miss on both devices though.
I've heard they did a lot better with the Tigerlake versions. Adding Hello for the camera would have been huge for the 7390. Both the Spectre 14 and the 7390 seem to get the same temp even though the 7390 has the vapor chamber too. The fans are much nicer sounding on the HP though, the Dell had annoying sounding fans to me. I'm happy yours is working out great for you though.
Very well said
I'm currently very interested in buying a Spectre, but having never own a 2-in-1 before, I'm afraid I might just set my expectations to high and set myself up for disappointment. I want to buy a Spectre to "replace" my old Ipad 2018 that I use practically every night while lying on the bed to watch videos and series, and occasionally drawing. The two strong points I find in using a tablet compared to a laptop, is that while it is more limited in what it can do, it's almost always perfectly silent and cool to the touch.
I read quite a few numbers of complaints about the Spectre fan noise and being hot to the touch even during "basic" operation like web browsing or watching movies, could you tell me your side about this ?
If cool and quiet are your main concerns then a high performance windows 2in1 might not be what you're looking for. The Spectre is not uncomfortably hot, but does get noticeably hot on the underside, but in tablet mode you're holding onto the keyboard side so not a big deal. The fan does make noise though. You can set it into quiet mode, which will slow down the fans, but windows does weird things sometimes doing updates or whatever. And when charging the fan will run more often. To me it's not bad enough to bother me. I watch things and read comics in bed all the time with it, but sometimes I accidentally block the fan exhaust and then they spin up to full speed whixh does get annoying. Plus a 2in1 will never be as lightweight as a tablet.
Thanks very much
I'm glad you liked it.
Thank You !! I hate my Dell xps 13, in only 9 months.... I got problem with its fan.... Luckily still in one year warranty period, it got fixed at no cost.... and 4 months later something went wrong again.... it got very hot easily... and date and time never align every time got started. I must change it mannualy.... so I sent it to Dell Service Centre.... and they charaged me nearly 100% of the price of brand new.... as it's mother board actually ruined and some other stuff too. Now I am looking into hp 13 AW 2110TU i7 spectre vs asus Flip S zenbook.... any recommendation ?
I actually got my dad a Lenovo Yoga 6 with a Ryzen 7 that seems to be working pretty good. I'm still happy with my Spectre though. Haven't used the Asus so I can't really comment on that.
i have the spectre and u love it. i feel it is better then my Macbook i had
HP seems to do a great job with their Spectre and Envy lines.

Yup, Dell has well-known QC issues across the board. Stick to HP, Lenovo and Asus for non-gaming, general purpose laptops.
One of the best videos on the issues of the popular XPS line.👍 They're great if you're lucky, but people should know what they're getting into when they decide to buy one.
Yes, the Spectre 14 OLED model is THE BEST windows ultrabook you can buy today, and also happens to be the BEST 2-in-1 laptop in its form-factor. AMD has good options too like I'm using even more powerful Flow X13, but the Spectre 14 has made the best choices in picking hardware and paying attention to minor details. HP spent years on it, so it better be good.
I do wonder how many of the issues are quality control, and how many are just straight up design flaws.
Have you tried to replace the SSD? I have the 13 inch model and when I tried to replace the SSD the system would not recognize it at all. Not in BIOS and not even in diskpart. I think HP blocks the M.2 port in a way that prevent the end user from replacing the SSD.
No, I haven't tried, though I have heard of people upgrading their SSD without a problem. Certainly more upgradeable than the Dell with a soldered storage solution.

3k is the native resolution. You can run it at whatever resolution you like under that, but it can be soft due to the non native resolution. For your use case decide how important gaming is. The integrated graphics can run a decent number of things, but if gaming has a priority you absolutely want something with dedicated graphics. The best laptop configuration and software are from lenovo. They are killing it. They have keyboard shortcuts to change the screen refresh rate and the power management on the fly. But above all, if the laptop have windows hello, they have a function that detects if you leave the laptop and locks it, then, it detects if somebody is in front and wakes up to try to scan the face. This feature is insanely convenient. You can just come and go without touching anything and it lock/unlock itself.

One question, i am tired of fan throttling with dell, and they do not allow me to modify all the utilities from power options like (high performance), Do you know if reducing the number of cores from bios will reduce the fan noise?, that sound is really disturbing. thanks
Oof, that would kill performance. I would rather limit clock speed. I'm not sure though, it's all about heat generation. I know you can turn off boost speeds, and I would imagine that would have a bigger impact.

Any thought on the new samsung galaxy pro 360?
Haven't seen it in person but the specs look about the same as the HP. It's lighter but from the reviews I've seen it has more flex. I do prefer the 3:2 display aspect ratio of the HP though. I've heard good things about Samsung's customization of Windows though.
Funny how I originally had spectre x360 (2018 model) and changed to XPS 7390 2 in 1 after it was stolen.
What do you think of the 7390?
Before watching this video, I didn't think about glancing at the HP Specter, because I saw some previous videos from other reviewers, it seems that the Dell XPS is so perfect, even when compared to the HP Specter. I see your video is more honest and straightforward based on user experience. But could it be that you're just unlucky enough to get a Dell XPS product that just happens to not be great?
That could be, but also scroll through some of the comments on this video with people having similar experiences. Still a shame since the Dell has such a nice build.
What about the Spectre screen? Isn't it wobbling? Some reviewer said that
Honestly it's been solid for me. I've heard that on the 13, but this 14 I haven't had that issue at all
@@AdultsHaveToysToo thanks !!!
I also had to send back my Dell XPS 2 in 1. I had the most recent 9310 model after a lot of issues making it actually unusable and I got a Spectre 14t. I love it and it's over all is better, but there is one problem that really annoys me on the HP and thats the palm rejection being awful. Has anyone else had this problem?
Are you talking about the track pad or with the pen. Track pad has been good for me. Don't use the pen enough to have an opinion on that though.
I had some minor trackpad issues with my Spectre x360 14. I’m not used to such a large trackpad, I think the issue was the bottom of my palm near the bottom edge sometimes touching. This would usually result in it behaving as if I were using two fingers instead of one, or three fingers instead of two when tapping/scrolling. It seemed to get a little better as I tried to adjust my hand placement. Ultimately I returned it due to the OLED screen giving me eye strain. Will likely get same model again just with the IPS screen instead.
Possibly adjusting the trackpad sensitivity would help. Sorry the AMOLED causes you issues. It's one of the highlights for me.
Does the hp keyboard illuminates itself?
Yes it does, and the black keyboard is much easier to see the light. The white keyboard on this XPS is almost impossible to see with the white light sometimes.
I have similar frustrations with the Surface book - the keyboard, and the pen regularly freeze, requiring reboots multiple times, to fix those issues. But once "fixed", within a couple hours (sometimes minutes), the freezing starts again. Microsoft replaced my surface book 3 times!! All of them are the same: recurrent freezing of the keyboard and/or pen.
I had a 2 in 1 Fujitsu Lifebook T900 for 7 years, never experienced any of those issues.
So looking for a new 2 in 1 now - based on my experience with Fujitsu (which had Wacom technology), and the Surface Book (N-Trig) - I was leaning towards the Dell XPS, which also has Wacom.
Could you tell me how the Pen works with the Spectre X360? Any freezing of the Pen or the Keyboard?
I would jump off a bridge if I have to go through with HP what I went through with Microsoft. Thanks in advance!!
I'm wondering if the detachable graphics in the Surface Book was part of the issue. The Dell pen has a softer tip than the HP pen which I like. The Dell is also bluetooth so it has a few more functions with the click of the end cap, however the Dell had the wavy diagonal lines until very recently. The HP seems more responsive and accurate than the Dell, but only has the two barrel buttons, no cap button. Never had any freezing of the pen or keyboard with either the Dell or HP.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Thanks so much for answering!!!
Are you saying the HP Spectre does not have bluetooth?
The Spectre has bluetooth. The pen does not. It uses MPP 2.0 to communicate with the laptop.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Thanks again!!!
@@virkelie2 of course! Hope I was of some help
My XPS 13 9310 always have that fingerprint sensor problem. Dell send me 2 laptop to me but both of it have a lot of issue, not just the fingerprint sensor, also WiFi won't work for 5 minutes after starting the pc. Battery drain, sudden black screen, screen flickering, and a lot of problem that really makes me feel that price is not worth it. Also Dell have already accepted my refund request after two brand new XPS they send me is all broken. My XPS 13 is 11th gen i7 1165g7 16ram 4k screen 1tb
I wonder what's going on over at Dell.
What about the updated Dell 9310 2in1?
Tiger lake has been pretty good for me so far, I have not used the Dell version of that though so I can't really say.
You have an incredible voice
Why thank you
I love the xps13 lineup over hp spectres
Dell makes some beautiful hardware with their XPS line, but this one really didn't work for me, and I'm not alone. But if you have an XPS that works great for you that's awesome and all that should matter.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo the keyboard is super great on my xps 9350.
The maglev keyboard on the 2 in 1 was interesting to use. I haven't tried the sissor switch keyboard on the clamshell model
Looking for a good 2 and 1
Good battery life
Good for Traveling
Good for editing RUclips videos
Which one is better xps or Hp spectre x360
This Spectre X360 14 seems to fit the bill for me, but the 15" might be better if you need a dedicated GPU and can stand the extra size. As you can see in the video I can't really recommend this XPS
New contender just out now, ROG Flow X13 with the Ryzen 5900H is a total killer! Only running GTX 1650 but I think a GPU upgrade is coming in Q2 2021
I have an xps 13 from last year and it's been basically perfect with fingerprint and touchscreen 🤷♂️
Awesome, I'm glad it's working great for you. I think the touchscreen might be a preference thing for me, just slightly off to me.
How is it possible? My XPS 13 9310 always have that fingerprint sensor problem. Dell send me 2 laptop to me but both of it have a lot of issue, not just the fingerprint sensor, also WiFi won't work for 5 minutes after starting the pc. @@edmundcheung560 damn that sucks! What did you get instead?
@@edmundcheung560 the battery drain and screen flickering are almost certainly because of 4K display. Damn, what’s the point on choosing such a high resolution for a 13” device?
Have all the same issue that mentioned in that XPS 13 2 in 1 in my brand new XPS 13 9310 non 2 in 1, don't buy XPS 13 right now or at least this generation.
hmm weird, my new dell xps 13 2 in 1 9310 has none of these issues. I guess I lucked out
adults have toys too outstanding dell v.s. hp youtube video overall 101%. between hp spectre x360 3 sizes 1. 14 2. 15 3. 16 which order is battery life longevity ??? can you list hours of each size ??? i did all my homework/research & did purchase hp spectre x360 15.6" which did arrive today.
You probably know better then me then with your research. I have not used the other sizes, and I know each one has different options that will affect battery life.
Hi! Why 360 14t and not 360 13t?
A few reasons. One I like the 3:2 display ratio better than 16:9 at this screen size which has the added benifit of making the track pad bigger. Two the 13 only comes in 1080p and 4k. 1080 is ok, but I like higher density, but 4k is way overkill at this screen size. The 14 is 3000x2000 which is a nice middle ground. The 14 also has a normal full sized USB A port rather than the hinged one. I'm sure the 13 is great too, but the 14 is perfect for me.
Thanks Im trying to figure out which is better for me
i dont have those issues but i have the regular touch laptop, only issue is getting hot while charging but i only lose 5 percent of charge if on standby and thats after a whole day of being stored, login works great i guess your machine was just bad and besides i have the non 2-1 touch, i wont lie i own the 4k 13.3inch 16.9 spectre but build quality of dell is much much muc better but batter sucks on both of them and thats my dilemma i love 4k oled and ips but battery sucks sucks so bad only 5.5 hrs max.
Yeah, not everyone can see the difference between 4k and 1080p at that size, but I definitely can. That's part of the reason I love that the 14 has a 2000p screen. Enough of a bump from 1080 without that massive 4k penalty. I'll say the Dell build only feels slightly better than the Spectre 14 to me, but the Spectre feels nicer to use if that makes sense.
Correctly stated as i also can notice the difference between FHD and 4K displays but the penalty on battery is huge and none of the three laptops i have with 4k last more than 5 hours and i expect that from my gaming machine but ultraportable with EVO certification should last at least 9 hrs, i think the sweet spot is 1440 displays on laptops they will have best of both worlds.
I always buy Hp I never had any problems I still have a 14 years old one working great I tried dell and lenovo both have problems when it's comes to windows laptops HP is the best I m ejoying my Specter
Hp does under power some cpu s to keep things cooler.
Yeah, all Ultrabooks do to one extent or another.
HP Spectre X360 14t is cheapest high end laptop and it is worth the price. Others, e.g. xps or x1 nano/carbon, are quite overpriced.
I will say ThinkPads are pricey, but I love the way they are built.
Enable hibernate
That was my first thought, but it's not an option for the XPS. That would have solved that issue entirely.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo really? It needs to be enabled in some obscure power settings. Pathetic if it's truly impossible. / I never want automatic "sleep" unless the OS could accurately predict when I'd wake it up again (and that I wanted it to slow down in the first place).
Yup, just not avalible in the power setting. I called tech support for the first time in years, do all my own stuff. After being escalated a few time the reply was just that's how modern standby works, and it's at a firmware level.
Sounds like a Samsung fingerprint reader...
Haha, had issues with those?
DELL has terrible quality control with the XPS. DON'T BUY IT.
