- A clip from a concert first shown on a German TV channel in 1998.
Nigel Watson does most of the guitar work on this piece, and makes an excellent job of it, while Peter adds the harmony.
It would be interesting to know who played what on the original recording by Fleetwood Mac.
Is Nigel Watson simply playing Danny Kirwan's part?
One of the greatest blues guitarists of all time- RIP Peter Green
Alvin Lee, 2!
Yes, the writer of black magic women , classic stuff
Yes sir. Peter Green. GOD? no but one of the best. I miss him
One of the best guitarists full stop.
This is the very real and only Fleetwoodmac and the unreplaceable Peter Green RIP. An amazing musician
Farewell to the master.....rest easy Peter. Can’t help thinking that as you entered heaven this was playing in the background.
The best ever, well come back to the 60,s
Nigel Watson was a great support for peter green, saw them 4 times as splinter group and they played locally in our village hall and was privileged to have seen them do the sound check and have a brief chat with him,it was a moment i will never forget.
Today we lost a truly rare and talented human being, may he at last be at peace. Peter Green RIP
Beautiful piece of music. As this sat at number one in the charts, I as a 15 year old walked into a room in the local youth club as this exquisite piece took off. Everyone just melted. No one moved. Immobile in time. A moment I hold till I am no more.
Our beautiful Peter Green! Respect and Love to you for giving our world such lovely songs for us to listen to, for ever!!
Amen!
Peter is a genius even now after 45 years. I just love him.
Such a rare talent. I hope most of us are able to focus on what he gave instead of what might have been.
Your comment reminds me of Jumping at Shadows.
Everybody points their hand at me
I know I'm just a picture
Of what I should have been I've been
Jumping at Shadows Just thinking
About my life
Well said! 🙌
@@marymenet Love that song!
He already WAS that … long time back yes, but was most gifted, most revered … 🎸
The power of a slow, gentle and memorable melody.
He turned up to our local pub around autumn 1995 completely out of the blue and played to us for the next 7 hours, with the odd break to have a drink and a chat. What lovely man and mesmerizing guitar player. RIP Pete let the angels take yo to your favourite place.
What a beautifully meting and a lovely memory to take with you thought life
My head, body and soul floats the clouds whenever I hear this, such a touching tune
the greatest piece of music ever written God bless him
One of the best pop instrumentals of all time. I don't think Peter ever saw an albatross in flight, but I did - from the stern of a ship crossing the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand just before I was to play the evening show. 35 years later I can't think of any other music to go with that image. Olov hashalom, Peter, and a long life to the rest of us.
I just got goosebumps reading your comment, Frederick, because my one and only albatross sighting was also from the stern of a ship crossing the Tasman to NZ, in 1972. I stood at that rail for a whole day, as this bird swooped down to almost touch the waves with its wingtips, then soared upward, then moved up to pace us alongside, just a few yards from me, then back to its station a hundred yards behind. Over and over, and never flapped its wings once. Not once.
Oh, and yes, this is for sure one of the best instrumentals ever.
Thank you Peter for the music you gave us in the late 60s to 1970! 🙂 Although we all wish it could’ve been more, it was plenty enough to show just how wonderful your soul was and just how talented of a musician you were!
The best blues guitarist by far, such a huge loss to the world of music, his music will be played all day today in my home, RIP LEGEND X
Greatest instrumental all time.
RIP Peter and Danny...thanks for some of the very best.
THE KIDS OF TODAY WILL NEVER EVER FEEL OR SEE THIS MUSIC AGAIN HOW SAD IS THAT ????????
Way back to my time at school and trying to learn to play guitar Peter Green was a guitar hero to me and still is to this day.
R.i.p mr green.. never forgotten ❤
RIP what a loss. Rick and Roll heaven just gained a helluva guitarist.
Peter Green and Olivia de Havilland in one day, good God.
Rick Helluva is a great dude maaaan
Such an elegant, beautiful piece and what an amazing, lyrical player Peter Green was - I listen to his early stuff now more than ever. I still have the original single - bought it when I was 13 😀
A gift from the GODDS to all of us that have souls that are guitar focused.... Peter was very extraordinary. Singularly inspiring.....
How refreshing to see Peter playing, again, it’s like he’s back in the arms of a long lost soulmate, reunited. He is a legend and I hope generations of kids dig through the old Fleetwood Mac archives, and watch a real master play. I loved him with Danny Kirwan, but there’s tons of albums preceding that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac. Back in the day when they made the guitars do the singing.Bless your talented heart Peter...keep on playing.
imagine what was going through his head when he was playing this, the memories, the love, pain, happiness, good times upsetting times. a life well lived, rip mate
I’d give almost anything to have been able to see him in his prime back in the late 60’s to early 70’s !
This is the only tune I ever learned how to play. Totally brilliant from a true guitar master
A genius, I hold no one above him. ❤️😓. I was so blessed to see him live, I’ll never forget.
RIP Peter Greenbaum. This is a tune that will live with me till I pass. Such an amazing tune. I never tire of hearing it. Thanks for the memories!
Trevor Gibb
Peter Allen Greenbaum
even at this age he still was the master!!! there will never ever be another Peter Green!!! may he RIP
In the old days, this lullaby of guitar wonder played in the background of an overnite party
which reached the early morning coming down stage of distant color dissolving, and stamping a moment of time in our life. (1971 ISH)
There’s nothing better than listening and playing his songs, you realise what a talent this man had, such a shame 😓😢
I♥️PETER GREEN 🎸
This always brings me to tears. The thought of my beloved passed parrots..... May they fly high and far liked an albatross.
This piece of music goes back to my musical formative years, back when rock-n-roll could be so much more than just three chords! Peter, you WILL be missed!!!
Actually there are only two chords in this song. It's how you play them of course!
If ever there was a song that takes me back to the days of my misspent youth, this one does it in an instant.
Yeah, it makes me ache for the old days. Good times, lost innocence. I feel Peter never lost his innocence, though.
The one and only, i hope you have a happy and bluesy time in heaven with all the other bluesman, who are there forever playing this wonderfull music all day and all night long!!!!!!!
My favorite guitar instrumental along with Beck's Bolero but this song is dreamy and special! I hope that you are playing your awesome tunes on the other side Peter!
This one is for PETER ......... thx for unforgetible moments in my life
This just brings tears to my eyes
Jörgen Olsson and to mine too. I was born in 1950 and still feel 30 years old. This music defined the most fundamental years of musical experience. I consider myself to be truly blessed to have grown up in the 1960’s.
Just keep playing that lovely music up there in heaven Peter. Never forgotten.
I was sixteen when I danced in a "disco " to this ..... I am now 65,not In a disco ,but still dancing ! Legendary !
So glad he pulled it back before his time in this life was up,,,it's all about the vibrato and Peter,s is pure magic !
Albatross by Fleetwood Mac probably one of the most played tunes in the World RIP. Peter Green we thank you for your music...regards .
songs like albatross make you immortal. R.I.P. Peter Green
I’ve been listening to different versions of Albatross for the last few weeks, and I think this one is my favorite. Green’s guitar work is just lovely, as usual, but the organ stoking the fire below it all is wonderfully subtle addition.
One of the truly great blues guitarist, will be sadly missed, one of the first blues I heard as a teenager " Need your love so bad" brilliant deserved so much more recognition than he got R I P Peter.
...my god, I had completely forgotten all about this wonderful song, it always put my mind at ease, thanks guys...
What a great instrumental played by a great man I never get tired of hearing this peter green will always be one of the best blues guitarist around
True guitar genius. RIP Peter God Bless.
For these hard moments we are experiencing...this is the kind of music that helps to feel better and relaxed
love the late peter green ,he wrote and composed albatross ,see him struggle heartbreaking
Peter you made a guitar sing so sweet and so open for all of us.
Reminds me of the heady days of college during the hot Summers of the mid 70's when I played this music by the swimming pool when it was too hot to sleep in the dorm.
I was thinking along similar lines: Summer nights on the beach or by the lake; our entire lives in front of us; friendships we thought would last forever but rarely lasted longer than a a few years... the anticipation, the magic, the viscosity of warm youth...
Absolutely brilliant nice to see Neil Murray on the Bass God bless you Peter.
Beautiful, Just Beautiful.
Missed but never forgotten.❤ Peter and Nigel ❤🎸🎸
The best instrumental EVER,,,this choon is amazing and one of those that just takes you to another place.....................a nice place
This only gets better with age. I loved it back when, I am love with this song today.
That is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful 👍👍👍
An incredible talent. Without Peter Green there would never have been a Fleetwood Mac.
This arrangement couldn't be more simple, but it couldn't be better. RIP
I grew up with this. It's just such a lovely bit of music that inspired me no end.
really a great version , played by the best there is (was) , its timeless for sure THank you Mike
Peter Green beautiful music beautiful soul. Had the privilege to watch this genius live .
The greatest blues guitarist of his era
Sometimes, the simplest melodies are the most achingly emotional
I wonder what thoughts went through his mind as he played this, the long ago and far away, the days of his youth, now approaching his own mortality. Albatross is a contemplative and magical piece .
When I listen to this, I can see the birds fly like angels.
Peter Green foi um grande artista. Descanse em paz.
Those guys just kept going man...nice and chilled... I think that's so cool for Peter and his recovery and support !!..
Could listen to this all day on loop
The albatross took flight...Rest in peace master.
Whenever I listen to this song, I cry. Genius, Peter Green.
One of my favourite pieces of music EVER.
Albatross was in just about every surfing movie back in the '70's. VERY cool! 🏄🏼♂️
Beautiful Albatross by Peter, sadly now gone. I was in the military in Western Germany when this came out. I caned the album to death. My kids were concieved to this. Music so lovely. xx Peter.
He put every bit of emotion into his music that all the classic African American blues artists did. Even as a white Englishman, he made them all proud!
Mellifluous beauty.
Some were it the heavens . This tune is playing. Farewell old friend .
From days I loved Fleetwood Mac. Rip Peter
One of the best nights of my life meeting Peter backstage at the little picture house in Beverley. 🇬🇧❤️

Great Song, Great My Teacher Peter Green.....Song of the Heart......thanks so much Peter.....
He is a undisputed guitar hero whatever you say. Surely, writing comments easier than playing or composing.
Solo un genio como Peter Green, puede lograr esos acordes en su guitarra, y hacer de ellos semejante belleza, gRACIAS POR SUBIRLO...
RIP PETER GREEN , THANKS FOR THIS NUMBER...BRING ME BACK , TOO GOOD OLD DAY'S...WHIT ANGELA RIP 2008..💙🙏🙏🙏💙...
To all you young whippersnappers this is Peter Green. A master of tone and economy of playing. Gary Moore cited him as a major influence.
Peter Green was and is one of the best blues guitar players in Europe. There is no doubt for me ... Great !!
So feeling Peter green we all miss you you gave us all so much pleasure xx
