Thank you sir, great video. I replaced mine in a 2011 with 80k miles yesterday to today. I probably spent around 4 hours actual working time. Partly because I take it slow. Mostly because it was 22* yesterday and I didn’t want to break things! Great job being a good dad, too!

Unbelievable. I own a 2013 Town and Country and had been told WHAT was wrong, but had I not seen this video I doubt that I would have taken on the task. One Sunday afternoon later, and hopefully no more drippy drip on the garage floor. Crazy simple to watch and follow. I would have been done much faster if I owned a laptop, but found it enjoyable to do a step, check the video, and do the next step. My buddy just had this done on his 2015 Charger for $600 and was thrilled. They were diagnosing Rear Main Seal before I showed him the video, saved him some serious cash just like it saved me. Beyond thrilled with what Fix It Angel has taught me and encouraged seeing what a Dad he is too. Thank you, thank you, thank you. PS.....btw, might not last but we also had a Check Engine light on since we bought this van 3 years ago. Doesn't affect much except it does keep the Remote Start from operating correctly. The light is now gone. Perhaps the two sensors under the housing were drowning in oil? At any rate, DOUBLE thanks again Fix It Angel!!!!

This part has been a total nightmare for me. I have had two covers break when removing. The first time I was able to get the broken one off and it just entailed buying a new cap. Now a second one broke and when I tried getting remaining part off part of the housing broke and I am now looking at having to change the whole oil housing. I can get the part about $150 but I am sure this will close to 1000 bucks with labor and taxes. The person who authorized this design should be dragged out of his home and hanged by his eyelids until he blinks. I only hand tightened it but it still broke :(

Thank you for a very informative video. I completed this repair yesterday. I did not drain the coolant - I pinched off the coolant hose with vise grips. Also, I did not disconnect the fuel line. I used a bungee cord to pull the lower manifold out of the way and it worked well. The replacement went very smoothly and I used an aluminum replacement part. Hopefully, I wont have to do this job again!

🤔🤔 There is a flaw in the design , Chrysler should bay for the repair, I am surprised there wasn’t a I class action against Chrysler ,
I have replaced it , then 2 years later it came back again ... the sales man at Chrysler dealership told me that they sell oil filter housing assy every day ... this is how common this spare part failure is ..
Any lawyer out there listening, pls hit them with a class action lawsuit... this company shouldn’t be in the business of car making

    • @ghost-4230
      @ghost-4230 5 лет назад +2

There probably isn’t a class action because that isn’t a safety issue. Plenty of car makers have implemented poor mechanical designs somewhere on their cars but that doesn’t mean someone needs to get but hurt and get attorneys involved. If you don’t like Chrysler then don’t buy a Chrysler in the first place. Everyone should know they’re very unreliable cars and cost a lot to maintain over most other cars. When they run right they’re good cars, other than that, stay away

Josh, it's not just Chrysler/ Dodge to be using plastics over metal parts to save money. I've seen Mazda 3 water outlet that failed over time.
These parts are subjected to heat cycles and pressure. They all fail over time because they get brittle.
My older vehicles had more metal parts than plastics... They don't make them last anymore

My 2016 rt caravan started having a major oil leak right after an oil change and when I got home there was a big pool of oil. It's been towed to the dealership but I believe the oil filter housing cooling assembly was cracked by the person doing the oil change. I did go back to the oil change place and they told me its a faulty Chrysler plastic part and not there fault. Ill post back if my warranty covers the work.

@@rspec122 I took the van to the dealership who diagnosed it as a pinched gasket and it was a 10 dollar part and easy fix. My engine was covered in oil on the top of the motor so things had to be removed for the oil to get cleaned up. Mr.Lube paid for the engine cleanup and the part but fought me very hard and didn't want the work to get done at the dealership but there was no way in hell I'd let Mr. lube touch my van again. Mr Lube came to my house to to clean up the oil spill on my driveway but all they did was put down some powdered clay then never came back.

Ours had exactly same issue. This is an excellent video. The part ran us about 162 but make sure to order the gasket sets and do the plugs at the same time. The work is slightly time consuming but easy. Poor design of an oil cooler and if you have a guy who reefs on the filter housing it can crack, or in our case the gaskets in the bottom will blow out. Sure enough the oil cooler issue fixed the oil leak. My Jeep has same cooler... not happy about it. Anyway this is a great video and you don’t need all the tools listed. The only specialty sockets needed are the star socket (inverted and regular). The rest can be done with a few wrenches and screwdrivers. The vacuum trick is nice but save the hassle. Use a syringe or meat basting bulb. Suck out the oil.

I am so grateful for this video, I first replaced the Oring & seal kit from Mopar. The oil leaked again after a few hundred miles. This time I ordered a complete Oil Housing Adapter Kit from AA Ignition, part # GWA422 . I closely examined the one Oring, comparing it to Mopar Oring. The after market unit Oring was fatter! The dimensions of a is given in OD - ID - W , typically small Orings are 2.5 - 3.0 W. I don't have tools to measure these Orings, however my caliper showed that the after market ring was thicker. It took a little more pressure to seat the new part, I dabbed a drop of oil on the Oring and it felt snug. I hope this works!

Angel, you've got the best vid on internet on how to do this by far!! My 2015 T&C (3.6LVVT motor) injector electrical connectors were slightly different but same basic principle to cause release as yours (pull up on the red lock tab first). Also, at 15:00 you state 71 in-lb torque for lower intake manifold - couple of references I've seen call out 106 in-lb just like for the oil cooler. Lastly, my same references called out 62 in-lb for upper intake manifold. Not saying who is right but know there is some other torque info out there ;) Also, there's a specific torqueing sequence for each part that might be useful to post. Again, SUPER job - excellent pix, process, tool, and fastener info!!!!! Please keep 'em coming.

Very well presented. Only thing I would recommend is to use the all-metal Dorman 926-876 adapter instead of the plastic one, if you have 2014 and later versions.

117,000 miles on my 2014 Dodge Avenger . . . and this started happening about 3 weeks ago. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from until I saw a vid a few days ago. Now it's leaking like crazy. I run across this video and see that this may be a MAJOR weekend long job, for a novice like myself. As some of you said, may as well change as much stuff in that area as possible.

I always get kick out of when anything goes wrong people are saying how horrible the company that built it is and their should be a lawsuit or recall. I have worked on every car and truck make that their is and they all have their good and bad. My family owns 4 chrysler mini vans and we love them. To me they are easier to work on then most makes. Good video man.

Yeah definitely should be a recall on the design. Less then 20k miles on a 17 200c and it’s leaking glad I found your video showed me I do not want to tackle the task. Gonna get rid of the car.

Make sure you check those new coolers for filters, had a couple not able to hold oil pressure and the new cooler didn't have a filter in it...and good video. I hate the way they drain in the valley like that.

👍👍👍I also used your top notch video and the provided info to repair my van. I didn't get as much oil out of the part as you did causing the mess. 5-8 hours for my first time(with beer breaks), probably 4-5 next time. Will be on the look out for a vehicle for sale with this issue if I ever want a charger or w.h.y. Thank you, saved me about 1000$ with plugs change out at 90,000 KM'S on 2014 caravan base model, and during a time of unemployment due to Covid19 scare in Canada. Peace!

Perfect video for my 2011 T+C. It made a big job very manageable. Including details, with tools and torques, Thank you!
I'll volunteer a couple of more things. First, (after depressurizing), disconnnect the fuel rail at left front instead of removing each injector. Also, my intake plenum is stamped 5-7 N-M, or 45-65 in-lbs.

Very good video. It shows presisly all the details. I have that problem and I want to try do it myself and I have one question.
Is it necessary to drain the coolant from the system? Or you just did it ,because your friend wanted the coolant changed.
    Thank you.

I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 and it shares the same parts, interesting video, glad to know its the engine oil filter housing.
when and or if it starts leaking oil i will definitely be checking the oil filter housing out.
    thanks for video.
If you can answer a question it would be great!
My thermostat housing keeps fracturing under pressure, at high RPMs.
caps are good, fluid is good never been mixed.
No air in system, and pressure tested.
why dose it fracture? or can/could it fracture due to engine being cold?

As a Chrysler tech oil filter housing does leak very common. Even if under warranty. Yes those 3.6 pentastar v6s are very notorious even with electrical problem. Keep up the good work Angel👍.
BTW 11:35 that is exactly what I reacted when I see the oil leak.
