  • Counting Crows perform a powerful version of "Round Here" from their album "August and Everything After" at the Beale Street Music Festival on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
    It was an excellent show and I tried to capture some of it on video. There is a lot of movement and crowd noise, and fair amount of camera operator error, but I wasn't filming a documentary, merely recording my experience of the show.

    August and Everything After is IMO one of the great albums of rock music. One of my favorites for sure.

    This band got me into rock and roll at age 13 in early 1994. The first three albums from them are all pretty great, since then it's been hit and miss but a lot of truly great songs they are responsible for.

    Here is a clear difference between singing a song and interpreting a song.

    • @jboling513
      @jboling513 Год назад +3

      kinda wish he would sing a song sometimes - or at least part of it. the audience hits more of the familiar melody than AD does. if the musicians on stage with him interpreted the song (played solos the whole time) it would be a hot mess.

      @@retromania8269It’s about the feeling, i prefer the 97 live version at chelsea but the new versions always makes me feel the lyrics in a new way.

      I love all the versions. Most songs are devoid of depth and are probably easy to mimic for 30+ years. There is just so much passion in this song. I'm amazed he still tries to inject new passion into it. ❤️

    This doesn't sound remotely like the original. Detuned guitars, even. The drummer is off.

    • @charlesoliver

      I get that some people go to a concert just to hear the radio singles played exactly like they sound on the album, but I love this band because they do change up the songs, either with acoustic versions or alternate lyrics. Regarding the drummer, I still consider Steve Bowman (the original drummer) one of the greatest drummers ever. His work on that first album is phenomenal, but unfortunately they fired him shortly after. Ben Mize, and now Jim Bogios, are great too, but Bowman was in a class of his own

  • @gildrop

      I’ve never seen one performance of any of their song that sounds anything like the record . You can’t even sing along because the vocal placement isn’t even the spots. So I get the impression when he recorded it , was like well just use whatever complete take comes out . 🤷‍♂️

      You should look to his body language more dude. The song is about very heavy stuff, him singing it the way and interpreting it differently everytime makes it alive. My fav is the 97’ version from across a wire.

  • @laylortarson
    @laylortarson 11 месяцев назад +1

    Dude doesn’t know how to sing or something. So odd he can’t even do the parts. It’s like spoken word but it ruins the song.
