    GABE this was the greatest birthday 🥳🎉 gift 🎁 I could have gotten today without having expected it. Thanks a billion 🙏🏻. I love Tapovan, Laxman Jhula bridge area and Ram Jhula bridge area as I was there in 2019. You took me back down memory lane today May 6th. I just hit 🤜🏻🎯 50. I went to the Little Buddha Café and Ganga beach because of one of your previous vlogs in 2017 I believe. I went to Rishikesh because of your vlogs bud. Keep growing stronger 💪🏻😎 on RUclips. Hope you get to stay for a good spell. I know I'll be staying there for 4 weeks in March next year. You should check out Braham Yoga holistic center 2-3 blocks up from Ram Jhula bridge. I went there and wow. I'm going back for 2 weeks of ayurvedic detox.

    I am really digging on these cool towns in northern India. Such a great trek.
    Here's kind of a cool fact re: Rishikesh. Several months after the death of musician Jerry Garcia, bandmate Bob Weir and Deborah Koons along with Sanjay Mishra spread half of his ashes in the Ganges at Rishikesh. Seems pretty appropriate to me.

    • @chi-8289
      @chi-8289 2 года назад +7

      Another interesting fact. In 1960s, Beatles decided to come to these regions for a week, they ended up staying for 22 months in an Ashram, wrote around 40 songs while being here, went back and changed the western music for ever. That Indian influence can still be felt in the western music and it opened up our music to Americans in a big way. Being from South, I had travelled through many of these regions 15 years ago, and it's truly a spiritual experience as long as you keep an open mind and keep expectations away.

    I just read about how the river Ganga (proper pronunciation) became pronounced and spelled as Ganges. It should just be called the Ganga river. Apparently it goes back to Alexander the great? And the common extension with es. There are many places renamed basically from invading governments

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  2 года назад +17

      Alexander never made it to mainland India. He had to retreat from the Indus river region(present day Pakistan) after the battle of Hydaspes. Fun Fact: Seleucus(Alexander's successor) married his daughter to Emperor Chandragupta Maurya (Founder of Maurya Dynasty) in exchange for 500 war elephants 😅 this eventually led to a creation of an Indo-Greek Kingdom in present day Pak-Afghanistan around 2000 years back. The Indo-Greeks were Buddhists and that's why Afghanistan had many Buddhist monuments before it became Islamic

    Hi! Gabriel..... be cautious while taking a dip in the Ganga..... instances have been reported abt people being sucked in a whirlpool, which is an extremely difficult situation & deaths also. Sometimes people can't resist a swim & r pulled in by the strong river currents...sometimes the sand on the banks of the river just sinks pulling the person into its depths.. Dams constructed in the higher himalayas release their water resulting in an increase in water levels. Beware of all these situations pl. We all want u safe on ur Indian journey. Also there r hoardings near the river bank warning of swimming only at designated ghats & not at some places deemed to be not safe for a swim. Numerous such cases r reported in the daily newspapers.. Beware..

Never again especially now that I'm older. Also it would be interesting if you did a 'what's in my backpacks' video. Namashkar 🙏🏻 Kaisersozze. You're darn right 👍🏻 on the money 💰 with that about Harald Baldr. I traveled through North India 🇮🇳 for 48 days in 2019 with two heavy backpacks and a light one and darn it were my knees, back, neck and feet hurting a lot. I finally gave away one of the big backpacks and lots of clothing and other useless things I bought for the trip. When I went to Mexico 🇲🇽 for 6 months last year I made the same mistake again of taking too much crap 🤣😂🤪😖. I ended giving away another backpack with stuff. Now that I'll be returning to India in 2023 I'm gonna take just one backpack with three travel t-shirts, 3 boxers, 3 pairs of socks, a pair of swimming shorts, a pair of flip flops, a quick dry travel towel and some personal hygiene stuff. A second back will be for my laptop, cam and chargers. I'll just be taking a pair of comfortable hiking/walking shoes that I'll be wearing and a pair of quick dry cargo pants that I'll be wearing as well. No second pair of shoes nor pants. If I make the same mistake again for the third 🥉 time, then I'll have struck out like in baseball ⚾.

    Excellent!!! I bet it's pretty hot in Rishikesh right now. It's normally only about 6-10 degrees cooler than Delhi. I prefer the Arti Celebration in Rishikesh. The one in Ram Jhula seems to be more for visitors/tourists. Not really sure? That's where we met briefly in 2017 after the Arti Celebration in Ram Jhula. I believe??? I know there's a lot to do in Rishikesh. I really enjoy the Music Devi Ashram in Tapovan on Tuesday and Saturday evening for the free music.

    The vegan tattoo sign might pertain to the tattooist who happens to be vegan. Theoretically, it's about the Indian metaphysics of energy systems superimposed on popular culture that supposes the region of the body being pigmentated by ink is correlated from body to soul, rebirth, and release.

    My native is Assam and would like to recommend u North-East, Gujarat, Maharashtra too. Gujrat has many beautiful tourist destinations and many have less footprint of travellers. Maharashtra has also amazing trekking places along with forts best during monsoon.
    I traveled almost all Indian corners. Now will explore SE ASIA.

    Your orientation is most important to the keen viewer. It took me some time to realize that you crossed the river from its left side (West side in this case) to the right and walked along the river to near the Ramjhula bridge. Please use the terms left bank, right bank and not this bank that bank. People know the direction of flow of the famous river.

      Very cool, lucky you to be on the islands now. That's good to hear that it's quiet. I'm sure it will get busy again this summer. Very likely I'll end up back there in the coming months at some point. If you want to experience somewhere even quieter then Anafi next door is a great island.
