Actually I don't think you realise how meaningful that is to the car industry, that means second hand sales have doubled in a year to 2%. And with 90% of all EV drivers sticking with EVs, that means that most of those EV drivers that sold their EVs, probably bought newer EVs, meaning that the share of combustion sales is reducing. It may not seem like much, but the overall number of EVs is only about 3% market share anyway right now. So 2% sales of second hand cars means that around 2% of the market switched next year that will double, and then double again.
@ In the UK at least the wage rates have been stagnant now for 15 years and EV cars are extremely expensive unless purchased through a company scheme. Meanwhile taxes and the cost of living with inflation has blown up. This means the EV take up will remain well below the rate the government is targeting. Any non essential spending and luxuries will get junked and that part of the economy will suffer. What will end up happening is that the majority of people who are living from pay day to pay day stick with old ICE vehicles because they cannot afford to change cars. In fact even having a car under the governments horrendous tax regime will be an expense and a luxury even if it’s a 25 year old banger.

90% of EV buyers actually stuck with EVs. That means that it was ICE owners buying used EVs. I personally know 3 colleagues this year that have switched. And I have no doubt that next year there will be way more.

@BarrieCrampton hi Barry, that data is heavily cherry picked from one specific brand of EVs. If you take the figure by the amount actually sold (mostly tesla) the figure is actually closer to around 10K miles. So in a little over a year, an EV is greener than combustion, once it reaches 10 years, it is nearly 10x greener than combustion, especially in the UK where we don't burn coal.
@ nothing is cherry picked, and 75% of the EVs for sale on Autotrader have done less than 23,500 miles, that’s the tip of the ice berg that’s the ones that are actually for sale
@@BarrieCrampton I don't disagree with the milage, and most 5+ year second hand EVs will take nearly 40,000 miles to overcome their carbon footprint (they were built in factories and at a time where most green infrastructure wasn't properly set up) but the production of EVs is getting greener and greener year on year, and as of this year (with the removal of coal) it will be even quicker to outweigh their carbon costs. I don't disagree, but some brands, tesla, Bentley etc, are well on their way to being carbon neutral manufacturering, once you tackle transport and mining, every part of An EVs life, could one day be very close to carbon neutral, and even (not talked about, better with chemical waste). I love the auto industry, I love my diesel cars, I've loved growing up working on cars. but people are attempting to delay the inevitable to the detriment of future generations. The fact of the matter is, the more we invest in green energy and equipment, the greener that green equipment becomes. The same is not true of combustion.

@@DS9FANINDADEFIANT I would agree if all the planes were taken out of the skies too! 🤔 But those money people want YOU to be under control not them!
"Do as I say, not as I do"
It's all about controlling the peasants.
Don't fall for the headlines, look at what they're not telling you. And see the bigger picture 🧐
How often do you change your car battery 🔋🔋 before it dies. 5/6 Years??
How often do you Change your engine Every 20+ years.
Just simple maths tells you the Ice car is more reliable & lasts longer and its cheaper.
EVs & Ulez & LTNs is finally bankrupting these EV companies into no return.
Audi who basically just gave away there entire EV department to creditors to file for bankruptcy is a polite german way of saying your sacked were not making EVs.
Pre-loved but now Hated.
thanks or your talk
2nd Hand EV without a battery warranty is worth ZERO
Barrie do you talk about anything other than your hate of EVs . All about the algorithm.
Don’t you worry about what my topics of conversation are 👍
@@BarrieCramptonI don’t worry just expected better. More money in Hate .
@ hate? I think you are barking up the wrong tree
And for those of us who couldn't give a damn about exploding cars.
Just remember, if you hear the same phrase repeated by different sources, it's propaganda.
Safe & effective.? Yeah right.
Lie #1 - EVs are green.
Lies, damn lies and statistics they may be but strong propaganda also. People tend to be apathetic and accept the information thrust in front of them, sadly!
Bollards
What happens if you can't sell EV
Same as with ICE car you lower the price
I wonder how many get written off for trivial accident or battery damage rather than sold used...
When reform party get in power normality will resume vote reform party to get your life back
Said quite quickly
I wouldn't want an EV even if it was given to me for free AND i was payed to drive it ...
Sorry Barrie, every used EV sold is replacing an ICE car sale just as new EV's are. EV Growth is compounding as ICE sales are imploding(see China sales).
@@centralplumbing4397 don’t make me laugh, I was just having a sip of wine when you made me laugh and spit it out 😂
Can’t sell a used ev for love of money nobody wants them.
Nah no EV for me load of bollox eco diesel lives on and petrol
Fibbing shills on the rampage, think no one will notice🤣
barry your bettef just reviewing cars and not keep bashing eletric cars… stick to what your good at 👊🏽
im not bashing EVs, im just putting the record straight, seemingly from the views this is more popular and attracting more subscribers, plus i am looking to retire so wont be in a position to do the road tests for much longer
@ cool but your just sounding bitter , i get your not a fan but after all there just cars, petrol cars will be around for a long time yet and if your retiring the electric movement in 20/30 years time wont be your problem.. thanks for the content.
@vincent-lr6io I have 2 EVs, love them, but can’t stand by and let liars ruin the motor trade
@ the industry is full of liars, ask your viewers if a trader or dealer ever lied to the to sell a car or were sold a car which then had issues due to lack of honesty… i just feel the traders dnt seem to like electric because its taking money from there livelihood which i get.. electric cars are going no where and will just be the future
How is taking money from them? It’s taking money from them because people outside the motortrade who have a vested interest are lying about EVs 😂
This is boring!
We all know its bullshit
It's not lies, it's math. Everything is relative
its misleading information, using maths
Just goes to prove that motoring journalists are lazy and pound out the same figures as given to them by the SMMT - it would be nice if they did the maths themselves....
Of course they need to sell Ford fiesta's. They fail faster than you could spell "oil change" and "wet belt"
30 years, 200.000mls ..... Yeah sure😂😂
Oh the wet belt lol!!
The amount I’ve seen with issues seem to be people who don’t know what the correct service intervals are!!
Also if you see the amount of ecoboosts been sold it’s a small percentage what fail!!
Best get back in your ev!!
@118scale what's the correct service interval then?
What a dinosaur, bet he is still using gas to illuminate his house
By Dinosaur 😂 you mean not a liar
As gas powers most electricity production currently he probably does.
Bet you’re fully jabbed!!
You sound upset and bitter. I’d be the same if I too had bought an EV.
Don't knock Dinosaur's mate they ruled the planet for millions of years and they didn't panic and wet themselves over net zero rubbish :))) Took a massive natural event to wipe them out ,climate change , 100% natural.
