I just lost my 10 yo Golden, 3 weeks ago lost my 18 yo kitty. I’m feeling very sad but also motivated to continue feeding my 15 month old Golden the best food I can find. Your channel is so important to learn the best way to care for our pets.
My condolences Anne. We had to put our dear Héra 😿 to sleep yesterday because her heart was giving out, she was suffering. They are our soul companions. Great perspective to now focus on caring for our living fur balls of love. Courage 💪🏽🤎 🐶
My 14 months' old cat (at the time) was put on the Heel's Prescription Diet hydrolyzed protein food as his vet suspected some allergies (probably to chicken protein) due to random appearance of red crusty spots on the skin at the back of his hind legs. Then, at the age of 22 months, my poor kitty was diagnosed with FIP. He was so bad, he stopped eating almost completely, and could only consume some cooked chicken breast. 28 injections and another 60 days of tablets later, his FIP treatment was done and our kitty healed completely. Thanks to Dr. Jones, whose channel I found half way through the treatment, I stopped feeding my cat the hydrolyzed protein and switched to a quality wet food with the good portion of cooked chicken breast once a day. The first time he tried wet food for a day, he stopped recognizing the dry kibbles as food source and wouldn't even come over to sniff it. Ever since, for nine full months now, he's been eating the same wet food and chicken breast, and looking great. His skin condition didn't disappear, it comes and goes, but I know for sure it's not the chicken he's allergic to. I spray his skin with colloidal silver and use coconut oil, hoping that one day he will stop developing these scabs altogether.
Dr Jones I used to work for a vet and he would actually try the food that the sales reps would bring in and say Oh this is the best thing and it's all natural and soon as he picked up a piece and put it in his mouth and if the salesman went nuts he's like oh I thought you said it was all natural I should be able to eat it No thank you and if he didn't like it he wouldn't recommend it to our clients
@@WolfJinx7 No he didn't put out any videos It was before all tick tock and RUclips and everything. He did like Hill science diet That's the only one I remember. The other thing was to mainly look because I think hills has even changed. Make sure the first ingredient is meat and not a byproduct not corn. First ingredient should say chicken or beef or turkey or salmon not by-product
After years of fighting allergic reactions and secondary infections in my dog, I restricted her protein to beef only. She began to heal and had no reactions. After several weeks, I gave her salmon, and she did well with that. Next, I tried chicken, and she began to have allergy symptoms. I've also given her tuna, and she seems to do well with that. My simple standard wet food recipe for her is beef, split peas, and rice. I often add olive oil or coconut oil to her meals and treats. Coconut oil is probably her favorite treat.
@scandl01 I rescued an all white boxer pit mix dog. I thought it had mange but the vet said it was food allergy and gave a some allergy shot that worked for a bit. Do you mean you give beef dry dog food and occasional wet food or always wet? I just want my dog better. Thank you!
@@WarriorMom-d7o wet food is best. Dry food damages the organs eventually leading to organ failure. Real beef and organ meat i.e. liver, heart etc. is best if you can afford it, even if only once a week or occasionally; every little bit helps. Check out Dr Karen Becker DVM, also on RUclips about pet nutrition.
Skip the peas, skip the rice. You need to get your dog meat, bone, and organs. Little veggie now and then if you want to, but make it low glycemic veggies. Rice is inflammatory and a filler.
@aquariusdreaming Oh! ❤️ I wish we could post pictures on RUclips! Good for you! They're so beautiful 😍❤️! My lil guy thinks he's human. Lol. Can't say no to these baby blue eyes! 👍 👏
They put my last dog on this, but unless it's changed, the protein then was made from feathers. I kid you not. There were two out at that time that were made from odd forms of protein, one was the feather one like my baby had, the other one was made from meal worms. There certainly could have been others, but I was not aware of them. This was around 2019. I remember being horrified about the meal worms and reading an article that said they were in effect, not only solving a future problem of how we were going to be able to feed the growing population of pets, but solving a problem of allergies in the process. Disgusting. I'm so grateful to have found you, Dr Jones. Thank you. ❤
Oh my gosh, my dog was put on this about a year and a half ago. I gotta finish watching the episode, but this makes me very upset. This could be issues for him. My problem is I give him his quill every one to two days, but he eats his royal canin daily. I guess I’ve gotta find a recipe to make his food myself sounds about the only smart thing to do.
I took my dogs OFF of that. I use honest kitchen dehydrated foods. Both of my dogs are doing great. And a heaping tablespoon of organic yogurt. They love it.
We have been feeding our 14 year old Jack Russell a very similar product for years, because the vet recommended it due to his upset stomach. Same brand, but over here in Australia it’s called “Gastrointestinal Low Fat”. Our dog now has a heart tumour. The first thing I did was look at the ingredients and found they are: Rice, dehydrated poultry meal, wheat, barley and I think hydrolyzed animal proteins too. (Doesn’t say which animals though!). I’ve come to realise that poultry meal is just leftover bits and pieces ground up. And in his condition he definitely doesn’t need carbs. So I ditched the dry food altogether. He now has chicken breast and vegies cooked in the crockpot/slow cooker and when serving I add prebiotics, Turkey tail mushroom powder, fish oil and CBD oil. His stomach is much better than it has been for years. Still fighting the battle against the tumor. Wish I’d never fed him that stuff for the last ten years or so. 😢. Not saying it was the cause of anything, but just think I could have done so much better for him.
My dog that had pancreatitis and also hemorrhagic gastritis so the vet put her on purina hydrolyzed chicken. My dog's pancreatitis got flared up by almost everything other than this dogfood. After being on this type of food she started eating the other dog's stool. She had never done this ever and when I suggested to the vet that something is missing in this hydrolyzed food that she is now eating dog stool. They said no it was balanced and she just developed a bad habit. I started feeding her one egg yolk raw daily and as long as she got the egg yolk she stopped eating dog stool. She has passed from the pancreatitis. I hated feeding her that dog food but felt trapped.
The vet just put our large cat on Purina Hydrolyzed Chicken for pancreatitis. Her stomach has seemed to settle down. I have had her on a strictly wet food diet prior to this and am a bit saddened to see her go back to eating kibble. I hope to get her back to eating a better diet after since seeing this video. I wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss.
@@stephiejane thank you. My heart goes out to you because having a pet with pancreatitis is difficult. I hope your cat is able to eventually tolerate wet food again.
Feeding this exact food but for my cat her's is the Hydrolyzed/UrinarySO cat food. I tried for many years all different foods for her, different brands and tried some cooked foods too and NOTHING worked only this crappy food does and she is still on it...i try to had some extra freeze dried meats and supplements to the dry food and even some selected protein wet food but that's what works for her. She had stomatitis around the mouth area and would get soars, it was basically the protein in her mouth attacking the tissue around the area, the vet had put her on steroids and once we started that food the steroids were no longer needed and brushing her teeth every weeks also helps. (Also side note it is very true this bag in canadian money for my cat is 200$ each time and it keeps going up😅 and thats just the dry food)
I have 2 cats; before, my oldest cat was continuing to have an issue. First he got FLUTD; when he recovered, he got a food allergy. So my vet said the food he can eat was dry kibble only with this particular brand, and he always got sick, not in good health compared to my other cat, so I often visited the vet, maybe because he was the first cat that I have, and while he was growing up, I always changed his food, whether it was dry kibble or wet food. But when I found out about raw feeding or making your own homemade food for your pets and how bad dry kibble is, I changed his diet along with my other cat's. I couldn't feed them raw, but I cooked their meals instead and watched your videos. It's been one year for them to eat the home-cooked diet that I make, and I'm so thankful; they are doing great, my oldest cat rarely sick, and even he was sick, I prefer watching your videos to treat my cat rather than to the vet, and it really works for him. Forever grateful to you, Dr. Jones and Dr. Karen Becker.
For a cat you’re better off feeding the creepiest wet food then you are the best kibble. Cats need the moisture that’s in the wet food because that’s where they get 99% of their moisture from. I’m glad you’re feeding Raw now or cooked anyway :-) I’ve been feeding my dogs and cats Raw for 20 years. Definitely recommend it.
We have been dealing with allergies with our Beagle for almost 8 years. He was put on this product for a while, but we felt it wasn't helping, and I didn't like the ingredient list. After reading many labels and finally finding a pet food store that carried good healthy products, we went to a product called " SMACK" it's Canadian made and has very limited ingredient, all which I can pronounce. We still have to deal with the other things he is allergic to, but now at least I know he is eating a healthy meal. Love this channel and all the advice. Thank you for sharing!
A lot of times they're not allergic to the protein as much as it is the processing of the protein. My cat was on it for a short time as I got too nervous about using it as cats are obligate carnivores.
My 2 dogs have food allergies. We learned about them when they started scratching, being itchy, etc. Also, ear infections that won't go away. My dogs are allergic to pork, lamb and salmon. Poultry and white fish seem to be the only foods they can tolerate. But we did trial and error with the food they were eating, first. it certainly saved us several vet bills
I'm amazed at how much corn and related corn products are in dog food. It's garbage, most bagged dog food is garbage, especially the cheap stuff. I at the very least make sure meat is the first ingredient for my dog.
I always had my doubts about the hydrolyzed protein food. I gave it to my doggy who had allergies and was scratching alot. The vets recommended it. Didn't work. Thank you for helping us choose wisely in feeding our loving little pets so they can thrive and be healthy. God bless you.
Hi there dr. Jones… I would like to share my experience with this problem and that might help someone else of your followers. My dog Theo near a year old stared with this problem of small intestine. Saw many times the vet and finally send him this food hydrolyzed… not much after again he was having live bloody stools so we went to see a doctor specialist in this matter. This vet send him the fallowing diet and it has been for at list half a year an excellent change on him so here are the ingredients for a 12 K dog weight in a daily feed: 90 grams of tilapia / 140 grams of sweet potatoes/ 35 grams of raw carrots/ 1 teaspoon of organic coconut oil and 1 capsule of fish oil. I help myself with 1/4 of a cup of this hydrolyzed food still like to help him feel satisfied…. But all of it together has help him immensely… Certain tips I do are: the sweet potatoes I cook them at vapore pot not in water so most vitamins are kept. The fish in a toaster/ little Owen with almost no water so it will not lose nutrients either. Always measure the grams ! He is weighting almost 14 K and has to lower some grams cause I don’t want him over weight … he is a long feet medium size French poodle ! Hope this will be of some help for someone with this problem. The protein must be only fish. Merry Christmas to you all and all dog lovers ! Blessings ! Kisses to Tula ! ❤❤❤ 🐾
In 2018, I read how cancer in dog's has increased over the last 100 year's. The study went directly into the food production? At the time I was starting to prepare Rileys dog food myself and never looked back.
I wish so bad I could have an appointment or conversation with you Dr. Jones found you in 2021 and have followed since. My 11 year old pup could use your help. She’s my best friend and I watch your videos everyday trying to help her bc I trust you more than any other doctor. For animals and humans
I WISH, SO MUCH, that my cat would eat the good food, novel protein recipes that I offer her. She’s 5 yo and has diagnosed irritable bowel since kittenhood. A traditional vet recommended the hydrolyzed salmon food (and a prescription steroid med. ) The food is 9:28 expensive and it didn’t help her IBS after 4 years of offering it to my cat. Then a holistic vet recommended duck, pheasant and mackerel. Well, shoot, I didn’t know that I would have to learn how to hunt and fish for my pet cat! She refuses duck, and I’ve sampled all the brands. Mackerel is usually mixed with something else (although I have found some plain canned mackerel cat food). And pheasant?? Haha, no such thing exists in the USA. And the dry food is usually mixed with chicken or chicken fat. Never “novel”. All the supplements and probiotics and trace minerals and holistic potions that I have spent somewhere around $2000+ on, my cat would rather starve than ingest. I want so badly to cure her IBS/IBD. I’ve been searching for 5 years. And we’ve tried all the most gentle, holistic baby and pet wipes on the market because I have to clean her bum several times a day. This cat is super special to me, obviously I’m trying everything short of surgery, because surgery won’t help anyway. Anyone out there have any suggestions? Please? Anyone? Anyone?
I have had luck with Nulo digestive which is exclusive with Petco. You still want to add water as dry is not good for any cat. I also feed mostly Weruva wet food. So far it is working, fingers crossed.
@ thank you. Nulo digestive is a chicken and turkey meal based food. I refuse to feed my cats meal-based foods. It’s bad enough she has IBS. Her food needs to be high quality real protein. I’m at a loss. My cat likes 2 mackerel flavors of Weruva canned though.
Fantastic educational video. Well done Dr. After a lifetime of breeding and training working dogs in several countries and witnessing the commercialisation of dog food I advise owners to not feed any commercial feed if possible.
Hi Dr Jones, thank you so much for all of your videos! Would you ever consider doing a video on IMHA/ITP in dogs? Our dog passed away last year due to primary IMHA, and it was devastating. Thank you so much for everything you do!
One of the veterinarians I went to a long time ago in the 90’s told me dry dog food is hard on a dogs organs such as the liver and kidneys because it’s so concentrated. He said senior dogs should eat canned food for that reason. At that time making dog food wasn’t done much
Thanks again Dr for the valuable insights.. I have my dog on Vitagen but also incorporate organ meat such as chicken liver , chicken hearts & also combined fruits & vegetables to diet such as carrots & apples even banana. This processed kibble is to be cautious with...
My vet has mentioned hydrolyzed modified diet for my Frenchie that has a lot of allergy problems, but I have been reluctant to try, I'm glad I never started it, I have her on Blue Buffalo Basics with Salmon and potato, I add a little coconut oil to their food enhanced with curcumin supplements daily, they eat it up!! Thank you Dr Jones for your caring support for helping us help our pets!! p.s. I also have been able to get her off of Apoquel by a daily dose of Zyrtec to help keep the allergies under control.
Love your videos The vet prescribed this food and thank God my dog didn’t like it she ate it one day the next day she was sick vomiting and diarrhea and I stopped it right away
What kind of food do you suggest for a dog that may have IBD? My vet suggested a hydrolized diet and my dog did not like it and the bag was expensive. Glad you did a video on this.
Our Frenchie was a mess. Horrible skin and eye issues and runny poo. I tried raw food diet with every protein I could get. No change. Vet said to try hydrolized protein diet. Made a small difference. I felt so bad for the poor little guy. A plant based food by Open Farm has changed his life. No more skin issues and best poo ever. I’ll be keeping him on it for the foreseeable future. Will not give him a pharma drug. Apoquel did nothing.
My Yorkie was put on Royal Canine Hydrolized protein since he was 5 months old when he was diagnosed with MVD (Microvascular Dysplasia) by his gastroenterologist. He is 3.5 years old now. When we got our Morkie last year, the vet said it's ok for the Morkie to eat the same food, so that Yorkie doesn't get sick if he steals Morkies food. They are both on the same food, and they love it. But if there are natural foods that I can feed my Yorkie with MVD, I am very open to hearing about it. Thank you!
My vet gave me a complementary bag of Royal Canin hypoallergenic food for my dog back in the summer. My dog has environmental allergies and is allergic to chicken. The first ingredient listed was cornstarch, followed by hydrolyzed chicken byproducts! Then there was a long long list of ingredients that I didn’t even recognize. Basically there is no actual food in this product. They say it is scientifically balanced but it is certainly not biologically balanced. It smelled like poultry seasoning and my dog would not eat it. It was outrageously expensive so I could not have afforded it anyway. Ironic that they gave me a food containing chicken that my dog is allergic to and telling me it is OK. I ended up doing exactly what you suggested which is making my own food using turkey and my dog is doing much better. Thank you for making these videos because we tend to trust what vets tell us when most don’t know that much about nutrition.
Thanks to you, I switched from (very expensive), dry Royal Canin cat food to grain free wet food only (& I add shredded chicken & brown rice to it)...game changer! Thank you so much for educating us, doc! God bless!🙏💖✨
@Nique3900 the amount depends on their size and it's three times a day. My outside cats still get dry food in between meals because they were strays and that's what they're used to but they get chicken and rice added to their wet food, too.
As a "Natural" Nutritionist I have found that is not the actual protein that is causing the allergies in dogs but the extra things in the meat like the growth hormones, antibiotics and who knows what else the poor factory farmed animals get treated with. The dogs suffering were placed onto a very simple raw food diet using "clean" meats, such as pasture raised or organic meats where no "medication" had been used. And what do you know? The dog healed up and was just fine and is now thriving. I teach dog owners how to do a DIY BARF diet and I tweak it for that particular dog. In conclusion, dog food is crap full stop, and we dog owners need to take charge of what our dogs eat but we need to make an effort to learn how to do it properly and avoid all the crap they feed and inject meat animals - that goes for ourselves too actually. It is actually so simple to feed a dog a species specific diet.
My dog Mouse 3 1/2 pound deerhead chihuahua eats Hills hydrolyzed dry with Bison Trippet mixed in. Although I tried everything and I mean everything to get his weight up, fix his diarrhea issues, and get his blood levels up, this mix was the only thing that worked. He was born outside his sac and he was a failure to thrive puppy with 50/50 chance of survival. Hills saved his life and he’s finally thriving. He put on weight and has an abundance of energy. I. Prefer healthy foods over any dog food but for him, it was the only thing that helped. In rare cases I guess, Hydrolyzed diets can be life saving. In Mouses case it is anyway. Any better suggestions? I would love to get him on a more nutritional diet but as of now the one he’s on has kept him alive and well. He’s 2 1/2 years old and on my channel. I welcome advice, we only want good for our pets! ❤
I used to make dog food and freeze it but I’ve found it’s much easier and so much tastier for them to cook it daily. I have 40# and a 25# dog. Calorie requirements according to weight are online but I usually go less because mine are about 15 yo This morning was 2 scrambled eggs in 1/2 tsp coconut oil, a few tbsp cooked rice from last night and a few tbsp Greek yogurt. I give them a 1,000 mg fish oil supplement with a little peanut butter after. Supper last night was 6 oz ground beef, cooked rice, cooked green beans and few tbsp sweet potatoes I tasted it and it was so good I think I’ll make myself a bowl and add spices. The other day it was boiled pork loin , rice and peas and carrots. They get a chewable vitamin with breakfast and supper Supplements I give them are prozyme , taurine and calcium, all powdered. I found the calcium requirement for their weight online and I give them that. I mix up one cup nonfat dry milk and each dog gets 1/2 cup and I dissolve the supplements in it I give that to them after they’re done eating the solids at night. Such happy dogs! I fed them Blue Buffalo dry dog food for about 2 months when I was sick and dragging After a few days back on homemade food, eyes much brighter, they look stronger and extremely contented. My 25# borderline chubby looks thinner and their coat is smooth and shinier I’m doing right with the calcium because they both had blood work last year and everything was in normal range Try as they might the pet food companies just can’t beat fresh food. I don’t think it’s any more expensive to feed fresh food than to buy a high quality dog food
Hello Dr. Jones! Thank you for all of your advices. My 9.5 year old swiss shepherd has osteo carcinoma in her leg above the joint. We are going with panacur. Question: If carbs feed cancer, why add rice to the recipe for cancer diet that is suggested in your book? Why not feed more of the ground beef and veggies instead of adding the rice?
The RC Ultamino is the one and only food my dog can tolerate. I tried home made several recipes, kangaroo, rabbit, plain beef, chicken, allergy formulas, VERY expensive vet prescribed. She had mucus in stool, diarrhea, stopped eating/nausea, lethargy, itching. Finally, once we tried this, she was 100% cured within 2 weeks. Been on it 4 years. We can't even give her 1 tiny piece of steak or chicken or any form of treat, at all or she can't eat the next day. This food saved her. It smells like molasses, no bad smell.
My dog does awesome on the Purina version, HA. She gets supplements. I have been exploring the least reactive protien for my German Shepherds for 20 years. This food keeps my dogs gut and skin/ears perfect. Balance cost risk analysis for each pet. I also add Proviable Forte probiotic. Figuring out protien sensitivities takes a minimum of 6 weeks every time a new protien is introduced. Fish only, was always best for my Shepherds. I would rather use diet than chronic antibiotics/Apoquel for skin and other meds for GI issues. You absolutely cannot add any other protein to these diets. No Heartgard, (beef) no treats that include beef or chicken fat, etc. The cost is crazy expensive but so are vet visits and chronic meds. That all said, it should be a last resort.
Soy has also been linked to testicular cancer. I have a theory about chicken allergies. All the antibiotics and hormones (especially hormones) that are given to feeder chickens gets concentrated into the bones and feathers. Bones and feathers are broken down to make bone meal that is used in dog food. Just a theory but .. some dogs are starting to get allergies to beef as well, and - I believe - for the same reasons. Antibiotics and hormones.
My dog loves it..Never blinks an eye when I mix the canned hydrolyzed canned food with the kibble.Eats it then wants more.My dog had major bloody stools and nothing I fed him helped. So her vet prescribed hydrolyzed food. Not sure if her diet could be changed. The odd time I give her a piece of cheese or I make her almond flour peanut butter egg biscuits as the hydrolyzed bicuits are like rocks.
Can you recommend a good way to feed our new puppy frenchie. My adult frenchie ( not related ) eat home prepared food by me...she us allergic to all grains and poultry including feathers. But when can I start cooking for our 8 week old frenchie as I started my older gals cooked diet only a few yrs ago.
After my allergic dog’s second cytopoint injection he got lymphoma. Is it related? I don’t know, but if I had it to do over I wouldn’t have. He had been on apoquel, which stopped w working. Previously, I had tried turmeric, quercetin, frequent bathing with an antifungal/ antibacterial shampoo. We cooked his food. He would t eat raw. We removed all poultry from his diet years ago. We tried many other things too. He’s toward the end. Allergies suck. Our little buddy will be passing on soon. 😢 Very sad.
Hi Dr jones just purchased your book my dog poppy been eating this for years and still having issues with ear scratching and anal gland problems all the time am at my wits end with it and obviously the hypoallergenic dog isn't working do i change her food, thank you loving the book
I hated giving it to my dog I lost 2 years ago. He was 12 but it truly was the only food he could eat. From being a puppy anytime he would eat he would throw up a white liquid we determined it was from acid reflux plus he had major nasal allergies and from certain medications. I tried many homemade remedies over the years trying to get him off this food as I am also a more holistic doggy owner. It was the only one that worked and he liked it. Buying a bag was half the cost of groceries for us but ya do what ya gotta do.
Is the grain free kibble just as bad? My 10 year old lab loves it, has no major health problems (arthritis, diabetes etc). I add good kitchen scraps often. She's a bit overweight I admit as I often lose the daily battle of cat bowls on the floor (I have a 3 legged cat who can't climb).
Switched my cats and dog tonsalmon, makarel protein plus limited ingredients diet and poof allergies are gone. Costs bit more, but saves thousands im veterinary testing!!! Ziwi brand and cat person are my brands to go
Hi Dr. Jones. Great video. I would love a video about prescription diets for feline renal disease. My cat is suffering, but he doesn't like it. Im giving him a senior holistic, high protein dry food and low phosphorus wet food. Im not sure if im doing the right thing. Thankyou
Can you do a video on what is called stud tail? Also on limp tail. Many working breeds get these but others do too. My rottie hound mix doesn’t have the typical stud tail though his was always dry and lost hair. Tyia
Use to bring protein to the factory that makes dog and cat food. People don't realize it's the crap they can't use in people food, like chicken feet and chicken beaks. Find a way to feed your pets real protein that you want to eat.
I love your videos. My daughter buys that food for her dog cause of the allergies he had with other food and that the only food that works for him and stopped the itchingness and it was prescribed by her vet. All depends on the dogs body so far is working on him .
hydrolyzed protein for my cats auto immune digestive disorder made him worse and his gum became pale and his joints began hurting. It also cost 4 times the cost of regular food.
Hi Doc, the RC food is exactly what I feed or try to feed my dog because his liver cannot process any type of meat. I know this because after a meal he his in extreme pain, heavy breathing and cannot sit. He can digest a bit of chicken but he is super allergic with chunks of hair falling off. He has liver disease and a tumor. Feeding him is a daily mission. Thank you for explaining about the food because I was thinking he was fussy for not eating. Also tried the ZD from Hills, same, he does not eat.
All raw is the best way to go. My dog had severe allergies and when I switched him to all raw it literally saved his life. His allergies almost disappeared. Best choice I ever made. And he loves it.
Hi, First thank you for your videos I love them! My dog was just diagnosed with MMM, muscle wasting in the head/jaw muscles May I ask if you would do a video on this, including supplements and especially food..i use several supplements glucosamine msm tumeric green tea fish oil and krill oil PEA dandelion mushrooms querctin bromalian and as for food..Open Farm Raw Mix, i add probiotics, bone broth, chicken liver or heart, treats frozen green beans, carrot, and hard boiled egg..TY!!!!!
Could you please do a review of Hills prescription Derm complete for skin allergies? I've been recommended it by my vet and Hills rep and want to know if I should even bother 😅
@@horsecrazygal I was a veterinary rep for Hills for 34 years. Derm Complete is the only Derm diet to address food allergies and environmental allergies. It’s very common form a dig to have both. It is not hydrolyzed but uses only egg protein. It is very rare for dogs with confirmed food allergies to be sensitive to egg. And egg is a natural anti inflammatory. It also contains an antioxidant package including quercitin, to normalize the immune response. I saw some great results with it before I retired. Btw, I disagree with most of this misinformed gentleman who has no nutritional credentials. Diets like this one are researched and tested in numerous studies before they are released. Plus the thousands of pets that are fed them throughout the world are the best proof. The FDA has nothing to do with therapeutic nutrition. lol! That’s a good thing! And Derm Complete is forlong term, a great adult/ senior nutrient profile.
Hey doc! Off topic here but I wanted to jump in on your newest video to ask a question? My 5yr old gsd is on a raw diet, some veggies, goats milk, raw eggs, mct oil, cbd oil= trying to get a handle on seizures. (I've watched all your vids on that as well) I read that sometimes an "off" gut can contribute, would your ultimate canine be something that leans towards a biome issue? Or maybe he needs it BECAUSE he's on raw, along with pre or pro biotics? Any direction would be greatly appreciated!❤
Thank you so much, Dr Jones. l fed one 22 lb bag of Square Pet Hydrolyzed Pork for over $90, which seemed to help my girI with aiiergies into the halfway through the bag, but symptoms started coming at the end of the bag. l made a point not to feed more than one bag, because l did did Iike the process or the pork and it was EXPENSIVE!!! Why are our animaIs experiencing so many aIIergies. l do not remember any of these issues with my previous dogs or cats!!!
In the past there was never any of this processed feed. Never has there been so many problems with pets. Get them on good natural food. This channel has lots of info on making your own.
@@amandaturner8928 ...l have changed her over to a raw diet (also expensive), aIong with greens, and fish oil...have never fed her any food with corn, meat is aIways the first ingredient, and now it's a novel protien :)

My dog is hyper sensitive to everything and has been on this type of food for almost 8 years. I think the food is making him sick and I am in a bit of a catch 22. When I try to do a slow transition by introducing a new food by adding it this food it doesn't go over well. How do I transition him off of this food if the food itself is potentially making him sick as well as the failed trial foods?
A vet is pushing this on me bc my dog is itchy. It’s not happening. Will try Medicus or home cooking based on a balanced recipe before I put her on kibble anything. My experience is it creates more issues than it solves so kibble is not an option

We feed raw and add minerals, vitamins, omega 3 and probiotics. And we keep our dog's hormones, so crucial for their long term health, even though we sterilize them. On the long run it saves lots of trips to the vet...
I have 2 dogs on it and they poop rocks also a new development they have been throwing up the food and I don’t have time or a kitchen at the moment to make them something better can anyone suggest something I can help my pups . My one 9 yr old had bladder stones and they put him on this but now he get yeast infections all the time any suggestions please I will be forever thankful and grateful
I had a vet insist I stop raw feeding and try this food. I lasted 6 weeks and went back to raw No way shouldn’t dog eat SOY and highly processed food. Do an elimination diet Yes I takes time But real food heals
My cat has been having sneezing fits constantly & he gets so congested and can't breath through his nose. He smells everything and then he sneezes like something goes up his nose. Friends are saying it's a food allergy? I feed him Fussy Cat canned food only. He has been eating that for 11yrs. I wish I could send a video so you can hear what he does because my vet says she cannot diagnose from a video. I just need help for my cat. Umi thought it was an upper respiratory infection and Ive been giving him Llysine for 10 weeks now. I was hoping that would help. Also a probiotoc daily.
My dog was vomiting non stop. At the hospital, they recommended HP food. Sometimes I try to take her off, but she vomits. I cook for my dogs regular human food. I really want to take her off HP food but not sure what to feed her. She also has allergies and is on appoquel.
I thought dogs being primarily carnivorous should eat high protein with low fat coming from an animal source with a very low carbohydrate.. I understood that both the protein and the fat should always be animal based.
It’s a trending thing to focus more on percentages of that and this and is it practically possible for all to sit with measuring spoons and calculate. Yes it will be ideal to eat even for human most composed nutrients. But are we doing so ourselves? Pets are like us, our children. We must know of general requirement. And allergies- but, rest feed them regular food we eat in a form suitbale for them. It is most practical and thats what pet domesticators of earlier days would have done-Just fed what they eat themselves. There cannot be a global, universal formula for food for human and animals, as it is all dependent on the local soil and climate. So feed according to your lifestyle food truly and get the supplements which can be sourced locally. The pets need mostly attention, fun and excitement and sense of belonging. They don’t eat when they are moody and they don’t like a sad house. If we keep all this in Mind, we can grow the beautiful souls which is hard to outbeat in their loyalty and affection and positivity in the ambience. I’m amazed at those comments from people growing so many pets. And grateful to Dr.Jones for letting us understand major issues and give us recipes for simple remedies. Most trusted Vet.
I have tried to feed my corgi homemade food making it and his stomach can’t handle it and I tried everything got holistic bag of food and he is doing good no mushy poop
One of my cats had chronic bloody diarrhea for 6 + months, I tried everything over the counter, even raw freeze dried diet. Nothing helped. She's on the royal Canin ultimano prescription food, her diarrhea cleared up.
It did help my late Apple he was on it because he kept throwing up in those days it was IAMS brand he absolutely loved it, but than he got urine problem he was changed prescription urine foods than I put him on can wet foods and he eventually got hyperthyroidism and than got crystals and prescription foods again. He died Euthanized 2 months later. So my opinion is it did help him with throwing up dry foods he absolutely loved it, so I payed for it. Might help your animal I just served exact amount.
A few years ago, I took my rescue Chihuahua, who had been rejected by her mother at birth and never got the colostrum milk, to the vet for allergy issues. She could not figure out how to help Pippin, but sent vet tech in to tell me to use hydrolyzed soy food. I picked up Pippin and said, "I might as well pour Pippin a bowl of r____up!" and walked out. Still trying to help Pippin...
My puppy was born out of his sac and had diarrhea for weeks, I tried everything under the sun dry, raw, expensive and nothing helped and his blood levels were terrible! my vet gave him Hills zd and it saved his life, I add bison trippet to the food and wet it with warm water. He had 50/50 chance to survive. Honestly I get it about dry food and Hydrolyzed diets but it saved my dogs life. ❤ He’s a deerhead chihuahua 3 1/2 lb and 2 1/2 years old.
I have rescued a BMC Black mouth cur he can't seem to tolerate beef chicken turkey pork the only thing I seem to be able to feed him is salmon any help I would greatly appreciate it. I can't even afford salmon for me to eat let alone to feed this dog lol
I think "Call of the Wild" brand has a salmon. It is a more costly brand. But my critters do eat it much better than some of the other brands out there. (I also buy the brand Diamond sometimes.) I also cook a lot for mine, mainly because of all the recalls and fear and worry. I sometimes use canned (I rinse it off) mackerel and salmon, for people. I also look for mgr mark down sales in the meat dept. Just some ideas.
Dr.Jones has several dog & cat healthy, natural products on this site.My cat is picky & refuses all the more expensive healthy food i've tried on her but she LOVES the Dr.Jones "Ultimate Feline" powdered all around health formula. So far she's eating whatever I sprinkle this powder on!
I feed my wolf-dog and Shepherd mix fresh chicken or rabbit everyday with organ meats mixed in once a week.... Do my dogs really need to eat veggies? More than the occasional carrot or piece of broccoli????? 🤔
Can you please make a video on pro plan EN Natural my dog has digestion issues she is 3 yrs old and has this issue since she was 6 months old I can’t even tell you how many different foods she was on and after a few days she was sick again the pro plan EN natural was the only one that worked for her
My dog had bad allergies problems badly. His skins always somethings always so much vets bills for medicine. Well while go one of my friend's recommended trying grane free food, so i went to Sam's finded it worked very well. My dog's had food allergies was bad.😅😂😅
I just lost my 10 yo Golden, 3 weeks ago lost my 18 yo kitty. I’m feeling very sad but also motivated to continue feeding my 15 month old Golden the best food I can find. Your channel is so important to learn the best way to care for our pets.
I'm sorry for your loss, Anne...
My heart goes out to you Anne. 😞🌻💛
My condolences Anne. We had to put our dear Héra 😿 to sleep yesterday because her heart was giving out, she was suffering. They are our soul companions. Great perspective to now focus on caring for our living fur balls of love. Courage 💪🏽🤎 🐶
@ Aww, so sad for you too. It’s devasting when our fur family leaves us. Still have 15 month old Golden Geordi. He’s getting extra cuddles. 🥰
@ That’s very kind of you Toni. There are 2 Golden puppies available near me but it seems too soon.
@@MP-rq5ci what food did you switch to?
Dr Jones I used to work for a vet and he would actually try the food that the sales reps would bring in and say Oh this is the best thing and it's all natural and soon as he picked up a piece and put it in his mouth and if the salesman went nuts he's like oh I thought you said it was all natural I should be able to eat it No thank you and if he didn't like it he wouldn't recommend it to our clients
Wow! What’s his name?
Hey, imagine my vet doing this! I look at the shelves and smh.
@@chrstinedivinagracia7259 he was an awesome Vet . He has passed on at the great age of 98. He worked with all animals birds reptiles
Do you remember any of his suggestions or did he ever do videos?
Real meat is much better than dry food. Check out Dr Karen Becker DVM also on RUclips about pet nutrition.
Wet food and real beef is much better for your dog than any dry food. Dry food eventually damages the organs.
Skip the peas, skip the rice. You need to get your dog meat, bone, and organs. Little veggie now and then if you want to, but make it low glycemic veggies. Rice is inflammatory and a filler.
All 🗑️ garbage. Very sad and maddening. My Pomsky will not go near ANY "dog food", he gets nothing but the best of REAL FOOD. Great post Doc. ❤❤❤
mine also!

Oh!

Dr Jones, you are pure gold for pets and their people. 🎉❤️🌟🙏
He really is
I took my dogs OFF of that. I use honest kitchen dehydrated foods. Both of my dogs are doing great. And a heaping tablespoon of organic yogurt. They love it.
Thanks for the info. Which Honest Kitchen formula do you use? And how much organic yogurt? 1 tablespoon? Thanks again.
I'm in Australia, my senior cat was prescribed this because of bladder inflammation.. hundreds of dollars later.. cat sniffs it then runs away.
That's good news 👍 👍 👍

Love your videos
The vet prescribed this food and thank God my dog didn’t like it she ate it one day the next day she was sick vomiting and diarrhea and I stopped it right away
I used to work at a pet supply shop that sold multiple brands of VERY VERY EXPENSIVE rx foods. I was gobsmacked when I read the ingredient labels
Awesome channel thank you Dr. Andrew.
Thanks Doc! Many pets already love you for how you've helped them and now, even more!!! Bravo!!!
@@ShannaM1 how often do you feed them
@Nique3900 the amount depends on their size and it's three times a day.
All kibble is pure crap, but these prescription ones are sometimes even worse than storebrand.
@@nogames8982 I changed my dog to wellness kibble and he grew his hair back, he had alopecia

Thank you ❤❤ so helpful
Hello Dr.
Thank you so much for this video my dog is also sensitive tummy
Thanks Doc for all you do.
Thank you Dr. Jones
Thank You sir ❤
Ziwi brand and cat person are my brands to go
Thank you!
Hi Dr.
It's very bad for the animal though. I highly recommend switching to all raw. Best way to go.
Dr. Jones, how about Ultrament nutritional freeze dried.
We just bought the grain free blue buffalo salmon and potato recipe today. Our Yorkie has constant allergies so trying another new food (again).
Not good food blue buffalo u should just buy some ground organic turkey or grass fed beef
Organic. Try it
U will see a difference.
Bluff buffalo gave my dog diarrhea, but hopefully it works for your dog.
@@me67226 yes I’ll definitely try that.
hydrolyzed protein for my cats auto immune digestive disorder made him worse and his gum became pale and his joints began hurting. It also cost 4 times the cost of regular food.
My dogs eat what I eat. They love sweet potatoes and tons of veggies and fruits. dry dog food is mostly stuff that bulks up their poop.
Thank you, Dr. Jones! Horrific how pets, animals & people are poisoned ... and pay to be poisoned!
I have a dog with food allergies- she is on the hydro food. What should I change her to?
All raw is the best way to go. My dog had severe allergies and when I switched him to all raw it literally saved his life. His allergies almost disappeared. Best choice I ever made. And he loves it.
That does not work for every dog.
Hi, First thank you for your videos I love them! My dog was just diagnosed with MMM, muscle wasting in the head/jaw muscles
May I ask if you would do a video on this, including supplements and especially food..i use several supplements glucosamine msm tumeric green tea fish oil and krill oil PEA dandelion mushrooms querctin bromalian and as for food..Open Farm Raw Mix, i add probiotics, bone broth, chicken liver or heart, treats frozen green beans, carrot, and hard boiled egg..TY!!!!!
I would like to suggest a RUclips on histoplasmosis . Highlighting dogs with symptoms that effect the digestive system.
@@amandaturner8928 ...l was in the process of changing her food, and onIy fed her on bag of this food. The amount of people l run into who have dogs with aIIergies is mind-boggling!!!
I can say we tried everything for our 5 mo. Old kitten kibble & probiotics wise... Nothing worked but RCVHD . So I'll stick with it
@hollz137 what is RCVHD?
My GSD had auto immune issues including allergies…she was on this for years…she lived to be 14.
A vet is pushing this on me bc my dog is itchy. It’s not happening. Will try Medicus or home cooking based on a balanced recipe before I put her on kibble anything. My experience is it creates more issues than it solves so kibble is not an option

I also recommend Dr. Jones' Skin Relief Balm for soothing your pet’s skin. Click here for more details:

I lasted 6 weeks and went back to raw
No way shouldn’t dog eat SOY and highly processed food.
Do an elimination diet
Yes I takes time
But real food heals
Video on pet insurance pros and cons ? Maybe you’ve done one but if anything has changed
Could u do a program on imuno therapy for cats?
What are your thoughts of the etiology of multiple lipomas of various sizes on a dog? Dog biscuits?
If we keep all this in
Mind, we can grow the beautiful souls which is hard to outbeat in their loyalty and affection and positivity in the ambience.
Can dog eat vegetarian food? If yes, what r the best foods? And does eggs cause itching in dogs?
I feed my wolf-dog and Shepherd mix fresh chicken or rabbit everyday with organ meats mixed in once a week....
Do my dogs really need to eat veggies? More than the occasional carrot or piece of broccoli????? 🤔
Can you please make a video on pro plan EN Natural
my dog has digestion issues she is 3 yrs old and has this issue since she was 6 months old I can’t even tell you how many different foods she was on and after a few days she was sick again the pro plan EN natural was the only one that worked for her
