I love his music, and I wish the Rhodes piano sound were back in popularity. That is the coolest electric piano sound around! Everyone from Eddie Palmieri, Papo Lucca, Sergio Mendes, Clare Fischer, etc used the Rhodes piano a lot! Viva Ray Charles!
....and when you add all that up, it = MAGIC! I think this gets greater everytime I hear it! I hope they all had as much fun singing this as I do watching and listening!
Keeping time the Ray Charles way!!! You followed and you better know what it meant playing with Ray or was your arse....As it should be because we all know it made excellent music!
Excelente postagem, parabéns! Foi ótimo ver a maravilhosa Susaye Greene ( uma das sopranos que tenho como favorita) como uma Raellete. Zaqueu, RJ, Brasil.
Oi Zaqueu! God Bless! :)
Llittle Susaye Green rounds out the harmony of the Raelettes. She would become the last member to join the Supremes with Mary Wilson. Nice performance and seeing Mabel John the first female vocalist for Motown Records in the lineup is awesome.
@@ronniemoon57 correct. shake was written and performed by the great sam cooke who's version remains the best and a blue print to a new soul sound to come
Susaye Greene is the tiny one in the middle. She went on to be a member of the post-Diana Ross, post-Jean Terrell Supremes. After the Supremes totally disbanded, Motown released a "sort of" duets album with Susaye Greene and Scherrie Payne, a second member of the Supremes. Ray Charles appears on one of the Susaye Greene tracks "Luvbug." ruclips.net/video/kU2AB3qpPPc/видео.html

I give anything to know what it feels like to know how having that much soul is like....music would not ne the same if whire and black never mixed to make brown....
No back up around can top the Raelettes. Say what you want about church gals, but the church gals can sang anything better than anybody, Its a God factor experience that allows them to even bring secular music to another level. Ray always had great ladies to be Raelettes. Too bad him and Marjorie got romantically involved from old Raieletts. Its best to stay professional when your backing up the lead. It gets messy mixing relationship in it when its based on sex anyway.
It might be impossible to sit still when this is playing. Love Ray Charles and the Raelettes!
If music was a fine wine they’d call it Ray Charles!!!! 👍👍
Sublime version! What a great performance, especially from the lovely ladies. Ray was really enjoying it.
Love the start where each singer does a solo, wonderful voices x
Ray covering Sam, heaven.
God given talent right here....love this!
Amazing stuff...Ray on the Fender Rhodes, the singing and dressing of The Raelettes....it looks and sounds fantastic, thx for posting
I thought ray was gonna fall off the piano bench at the begining. He was rockin out! Lol
Ray Charles is ALWAYS in control
I love how he modulates the volume of the rhodes at the 3:58

And how great the Raelettes were and are! Thanks for this post.
They sound great!! That's some good singing!! First time hearing that song. Nice.

Does anyone know where I can find a studio version of that song ? It's haunting me and In can't find it !
I don't believe their is a studio version as ray didn't write the song but their is a studio version of otis redding singing it.
I think Sam Cooke actually wrote the original it was the single released immediately after he was shot.
Sam Cooke - Shake
after watching the movie Ray I'm hooked! was trying to spot the girl from the movie that he had the affair with in the backing group!
she was long gone by then.
Ms.Margie Hendrix (R.I.P.) is not singing here, but yes up in Heaven with the Celestial Choir.....
Before Susaye Greene became a Supreme, she is seen here singing an early recording by Diane, Mary, and Florence.
Mable John and Susaye Greene are both Motown artist
OH MY!

Gowns are gorgeous stars really knew how to dress then does he move like that because hes blind or was it the dope
And the white folk can barely keep beat. lol!
Some blacks couldn't either.
How the fuck do he do all that without falling
That's ill
Why do the raylette girls only stay as backup singers for ray for only 1 or 2 performances
Because that's the way he wants it.
ok version of the sam cooke classic
Since when SHAKE was considered a "Christian" music?
There is only one Sam Cooke, that sings this much better than this Muppet clown
GO FIND A CLIFF AND PRETEND YOU'RE WILE E. COYOTE, YOU MORON!!!
BESIDES, OTIS REDDING SANG BETT ER THAN SAM COOKE.
You mama is a Muppet clown
