  • Mendenhall Glacier & Nugget Falls Shore Excursion - Juneau Alaska
    In this video, we will ride the Glacier Express bus to the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls in Juneau Alaska USA. This $45 shore excursion is a private excursion that can be taken when you get to shore in Juneau. The excursion booth is located at the base of the Mount Roberts Tramway next to several other excursion booths. The Glacier Express bus took about 25 minutes to travel to the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls which is located in the Tongass National Forest. From there we hiked for about 1 mile to reach Nugget Falls. The park also has a great visitors center that will give out tons of information about the glacier. We took this private excursion while sailing to Alaska on a cruise as it was much cheaper than the excursions on the ship. The $45 cost also included the park fees to enter the area. If you are wondering what to do while visiting Juneau Alaska this Glacier Express Excursion is a great option.

    I read that 100 years ago, the glacier went most of the way back to the visitor's center. (And covered the falls)
    I'll be going there, next June, on the Bliss.

      Awesome! Enjoy your Cruise. We sailed there on the Joy, The sister ship and had a wonderful time. And yes, it is sad that the glacier is receding. You can even see that it's gone back over the last few years.

    Do you recommend the city tour and shuttle bus to mendenhall glacier that have reserved time/seat for $60 per person? I’m concern about the long lines/ long wait in June if we book the anytime shuttle bus for $45 per person.

    Thanks for the info, always looking for info on what port operators offer. I assume this was $45 a person, and do the busses just show up every 30 mins? No set time to leave? Did you happen to catch when their last buses pick up? As research seems like about 45 each way for a cab/uber and since there will be 2 of us, it ends up being about the same price anyways, but lil more organized this way.

    • @NorthernVikingExplorer
      @NorthernVikingExplorer  2 года назад +1

      Yes it was per person and the buses just kept doing loops and showed up every 30 minutes. I don't recall what time the last bus was.

    • @NorthernVikingExplorer

      I feel like you would be rushed to do both of them. Maybe do the tram second because it's closer to the ship so you know how much time you have left.
